Kris and David were wonderful hosts who generously allowed us to stay in their amazing home for 4 days. Everything about the property was great - from the freshly raked sandy beach to the amazing design of the home and the luxurious furnishings. No uncomfortable "camp" furniture here! And what a kitchen!!!! Preparing meals was a pleasure instead of a chore! Fishing was a little slow, but no-big-deal when you get to come back to this house!
Our family of four had the pleasure of staying here for a week during the Fourth of July. The house was stunning and had all of the amenities we required and more! We appreciated the ability to utilize the paddle boat and canoes (and life vests of all sizes) to explore the lake beyond the cove where the house is situated. We were also able to find worms to use with the provided fishing gear to catch a few sunnies in the lake. The cove where the house is located was great for exploring nature and the beach was enjoyable, but the water itself was murkier than we were expecting and only the kids (4 & 1) actually swam in it (though the adults did make use of the provided floats).
The house itself was clean and comfortable with plenty of space for our crew; though it wasn't childproofed, it was manageable. We enjoyed having the ability to BBQ on the grill and do our laundry before leaving the house. The hosts were excellent in communicating with us, thanks so much for an excellent stay!
This was the perfect spot for a quick weekend trip up for UNH Family Weekend. Reasonable distance to UNH and so much nicer than staying in a hotel. 2BR perfect for my wife and I to share with another couple. Great kitchen and views with the lake. Wish the weather was a little nicer to enjoy the lake and the firepit more but with Freshman we'll definitely look to return during future visits to UNH over the next few years.
Beautiful home with beautiful views. We only stayed 2 nights but definitely could have stayed longer. Hosts made everything easy. Fully stocked kitchen with everything you would ever need. Beautiful outdoor spaces to relax. Comfortable beds. Highly recommend.
Our family had a wonderful stay at Swainns lake. The home is very clean and comfortable. There are beautiful views from the kitchen and living spaces and the gas fireplaces in the living rooms make for a cozy evening. The outdoor space has ample seating, beach, and fireplace for just enjoying time by the water. The lake isn't the best for swimming as it has an abundance of weeds (bladderwort) but the kayaking/paddling is very fun with islands to explore and some decent fishing as well.
Kris and Dave's house is perfectly located near a lake. Every morning we woke up to a beautiful lake view for breakfast. They left detailed instruction to the house and what's nearby for fun. We felt like home right away. Our family enjoyed fishing, kayaking around the lake, and hiking around the nearby trails. It is a calm and quiet vacation and exactly what we need.
Home is beautiful and well appointed, we had just never stayed somewhere with other people on the property. And owners were very respectful. But very strange and awkward, did not feel private.
My family and I had an amazing time. The house and property are beautiful and cared for with so much love. The owners are kind and always available for any questions. Thank you for everything!!!
My family and I loved this property. The home was very comfortable and welcoming. The private beach and lake were second to none. The owner's are very responsive and attentive.
Traveled to area for a sports tournament. This was perfect for rest and relaxation after busy days at the fields. It’s also not far from the coast and from Boston for a day trip (or Red Sox game). The kids absolutely loved the boats and used the fishing gear. The house was spacious and comfortable and the host was attentive and gracious. It was a wonderful long weekend!
We loved this spot, with a clean, private 🏖 beach! Our grandsons had such a great time, building sand castles and playing in the water! The rooms were comfortable, and the kitchen area/family room had lovely big windows looking out on the lake. Owners were just great, friendly, helpful, and great with communication. We had everything we needed, and want to come back. Very homey, well-cared for property.

About the host
Hosted by Kristine Zuniga
We are empty nesters after having brought up 4 children on the west coast. We bought our home in 2014 and have been slowly making it our own. David is retired and the full time caretaker of our property whereas Kris is still working full time as a Lactation RN and helping out on her days off. We both love to travel but we don't necesarrily like being tourists. We love to learn, live and respect the culture of wherever we go. We plan to continue to travel more, locally, in the US and abroad whenever we can.
Why they chose this property
Kris grew up on a lake in Southern NH and had been use to lake life before moving to Southern CA. When this property became available, we fell in love with the setting, deciding to totally change our lifestyle! No matter what the season, our views are beautiful! It is so peaceful and tranquil at our little spot! A perfect place to relax, unwind and have fun!
What makes this property unique
We fell in love immediately with the setting, surrounded by woods and water. The home, is light and airy with exposed, wooden cathedral ceilings in the living areas and master bedroom, so many windows and skylights bringing the sites and sounds of nature right into the home. If up early enough, you can view the beautiful sunrise through the trees over the lake or from a chair on the dock! Nights can be spent with friends and family under the stars around the firepit on the beach.
