This was our third stay at this property, and this time we had friends go with us. Always love our time here. The location is somewhat out of town, and for us that is perfect - quiet and peaceful. Will be back!

I'm so happy you chose to stay at our home again. I love this area too because it's far enough yet close enough from town. Hope to see you again in the future.
Great place, everyday I noticed a little touch that made the house special. Wi-if was strong, place makes you feel remote, but you are close to town. Would stay here again.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, listing accuracy
Good size and arrangement of rooms. Good furniture and appliances, including beds. Did not see any info that you had to drive on dirt roads to get there or about all the speed humps getting to the dirt road.We met our son and his family there and we all enjoyed it.

From the Owner: "Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We strive to have a nice place for our guests to enjoy. I apologize for any road conditions that disturbed you. We can not control the conditions of any roads that the state maintains. I do know the speed bumps were put in place to slow down speeders that were causing fatal crashes on Lower Colonias Rd. Again, thank you for staying with us and hope that you will come again."

Beautiful, Clean home with views
We really enjoyed out stay here and would book again! The owner is very helpful, and responsive; it is a beautiful home, great views and perfectly clean. Lots of room to stay and play. A bit of a drive from town, but we didn't mind that. Very Clean and extremely cute! Bring coffee and laundry detergent if desired.

Awesome home!
Spacious home, well stocked, loved the wood burning fireplace, great location as well.
Beautiful setting, good bed. Few items were missing, so if you stay make sure to bring a hairdryer, sponge for the kitchen, and washing soap for the washing machine.

From the owner: "Hi Paula, thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the beautiful setting and comfortable bed. I apologize for any confusion regarding the amenities we provide. Typically, our cleaning crew includes a fresh kitchen sponge and a dish rag for each guest’s convenience. However, as noted in our listing, items like a hairdryer and washing machine soap are not provided. We appreciate your comments and hope to host you again soon!"
We loved the home and it's surroundings! It was well-stocked and very quiet, with a lovely Courtyard. Despite the heat, the house stayed pleasantly cool.
The home was just like the photos and was very spacious very authentic New Mexico. We really enjoyed the outdoor space with the wonderful views of the mountains and big sky. Great for stargazing!. Such a lucky find and we will be recommending this to our friends. Thank you!!!
This home provides an authentic adobe experience set in a private walled compound. Easy access to restaurants, galleries and surrounding towns and historic sites. It is extremely comfortable, clean and fully equipped. The owners have attempted to provide every possible comfort and information to ensure a meaningful visit. Be sure to visit Taos, Red Rock, Enchanted Circle and the Native American historic sites. Recommended.......
We enjoyed 5 nights at El Prado. Accommodations for 6 were perfect for us. While iron stove does heat the house up, our crew was still a little cold for the trip. Also, was expected to harvest kindling from the yard to start the fireplace. Other than those 2 items, we thought everything was great. House is a little out of Taos with most places in Taos being a 15-20 minute drive. Loved the Adobe style.

From the Owner: "I am happy you enjoyed your stay. We try to keep fire starters stocked for each guest along with firewood. We installed an automatic starter on the fireplace to make lighting it as easy as possible. We also sent you a video prior to your stay to help understand the stove. I apologize if there was any inconvenience. We hope you will choose to stay with us again in the future."
On a short washboard gravel road but beautiful home
Loved the home, very clean, beautiful architecture, nice sunsets. Not too far from town.
We were concerned about no AC but while high's were around 90F the house didn't get above 77F during the day and it cooled down quickly at night.
Overall enjoyed our stay. I'd book closer to town next time and make sure it's on a paved street - the bumpy ride in/out, only a few min, but it wasn't fun.

Cozy adobe home
The setting was beautiful - 360 degree views of the mountains, in what felt like a remote and quiet area, yet you are only a 10-15 minute drive of Taos, and only 10 minutes to the Rio Grande gorge bridge. The home was an authentic adobe style, and was spacious yet cozy. However, a few basic amenities would have made it more comfortable. There is a laundry machine, but no laundry detergent, for example. The adobe style does retain heat, but it was still fairly cold at night, and the thermostat controls were locked, so we had to message the host to request that they manually increase temperatures. Otherwise a comfortable stay overall.

Had everything we needed
The place is really out there, and you will achieve that feeling of just getting away from it all. Just sitting out in the courtyard and looking up at the night sky is intoxicating. During the say, you'll see nothing but the few homes surrounding you far off and then the beautiful mountains just north/east of you. The house itself is a gem, both architecturally and just how it is outfitted for a visiting family. It has anything you may need during your stay to prepare meals and cookies. It has 2 decent bathrooms and the rooms are cozy with plenty of linens. In the early summer we were there (early June) it was a steady and comfortable 67-68 degrees in the house which has no AC. Just crack open a couple of windows a little, and you're good to go.
The main town of Taos is just a 15 drive down the mini-mesa this neighborhood is on. There is some construction going on in the main town so be a little patient once you get down there. Cid's is a good grocery option. You will have plenty of options for Mexican food. We went to Guadalajara's 3 times due to good choices, counter service with no wait. La Cueva is a nice sit down style place and I hear great things about Orlando's. There are a few nice hikes about 20 minutes away as well as the Rio Grande bridge.

HORRIBLE! Prepare to be spied on!
WARNING! READ BEFORE CONSIDERING BOOKING! I’d give zero stars if I could. My family was uncomfortable from the moment we arrived at this home. The “private” backyard is not private at all as you can see right through all fences, and there are several neighbors very nearby. You’re also being actively watched at all times; so private it is NOT. The cameras didn’t bother us at first until we started getting messages about how we were being “observed.”
While the property is managed by a company, the owner is apparently actively monitoring your every move. We had two family members over and received threatening phone calls and emails at 3PM that if those two people weren’t off the property by 6PM we would all be forced to leave.
On top of that disturbing part of our short stay, the owners have pictures of themselves everywhere, including intimate kissing pictures. I can’t understand why these don’t get put away? Don’t expect to take a shower unless you’re under 5 feet tall; they’re both tiny and in rough shape. Don’t expect to do much cooking either; the cookware is totally insufficient
Despite how the owner will respond to this review to save face, you should know that we are excellent renters. We’ve had so many great stays on Homeaway. The behavior of this owner was completely unwarranted, inappropriate, and quite frankly creepy. To be told that we’re being spied on and then threatened was such a shock. We immediately decided to vacate the property on our own accord as being watched and threatened unnecessarily was unbelievable. We felt violated, threatened, and scared we’d be confronted further... No way I was keeping my kids in that house.
Unless you’ve always dreamed of being on Big Brother, please heed my warning. I hope the owner reads this and thinks twice before treating another guest this way. They ruined our vacation. I wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me!

Hi Erin, We were very sorry to hear that you were not comfortable at the property due to the external security cameras. We strive to be transparent with our travelers at every stage of the booking process, and we apologize that we did not clearly describe the cameras and what they cover in the listing. We have updated the listing to avoid any uncertainty or confusion for future travelers. The cameras are in place for the safety of our guests as well as the homeowner, and we can assure you that the owner does not use them to spy on guests while they are in residence. They did notice that you had exceeded the maximum occupancy of the property and asked us to request that your additional guests leave the home to keep your group in compliance with the set policies. We apologize again that the Evolve team member who reached out did not relay this request respectfully or in line with our policies, and they have undergone additional training to ensure that they can better handle these situations in the future. We hope that the measures Evolve took to compensate you for your experience make up for some of your disappointment, and we would love the opportunity to provide you with a truly 5-star experience the next time you book a vacation rental. Best, the Evolve Team
