Astelia Cottage, on Bridge St

Cosy cottage within walking distance to village centre and lakeside (10 minutes). Located next to the Black Valley Stream track which leads down to Lake Rotoiti. Set amongst Beech forest and native bush but with an open sunny outlook from the living area. Quiet location, down a ROW. Note: Guests provide their own linen. Parking space for extra car, boats. Wood burner and radiant heater for heating. Kitchen has microwave, 2 burner stove top, bench oven, coffee machine and a fridge/freezer. Shower is over a shub. Guests to leave the Bach clean and tidy and are required to take rubbish and recycling away with them.

Wonderful slice of paradise

Another wonderful stay at such a gorgeous little bach. You can feel the love and life in this place. It may not be fancy but it is everything we needed for a relaxing stay in such an incredible location.

Had everything we needed

Classic Kiwi bach with everything we needed for 2 night stay. Couldn’t find an info folder which would have been handy. Right next to Black Valley walkway. Recommend taking boat to Lakehead Hut jetty & walking the track back to Kerr Bay (3 hours)

Cosy little cottage near the lake

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful old cottage that is clearly loved. The kids made themselves at home and had a fantastic time exploring the house and surrounds too.

Slice of paradise

Astelia cottage felt like a home away from home. Very tidy warm and cosy and very peaceful. Great location to some very beautiful lakes awesome hikes for the light hearted and the brave and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking.

Great Traditional Bach Experience

Ideal location, walkable distance on nice tracks to the lake, shops and school playground. Nice old bach, still very functional. Great for a young family.

Relaxing and very comfortable stay

We enjoyed the tranquility and serenity of this venue. It's within easy walk of short local walks and longer ones. Our 19 month grandson visited for a day and he happily and easily managed the nearby walks with so much for him to explore. Lovely, homely place to stay with welcoming information from the owners.

Family weekend catch up

Authentic kiwi bach with lots of atmosphere. Clean and tidy and enough room for five guests. Wood fire available for winter months. Easy walking distance to the lake front and Alpine Lodge for coffee and food. Situated in the native bush with plenty of amazing bird life.

Kiwi experience

Our stay at Astelia Cottage was wonderful. It is a typical Kiwi Bach, we felt quite comfortable and enjoyed the quirkyness of the building. Great shower and comfortable beds. Just one thing to note to owners, kettle is not working, not a problem boiled water on the stove : )

Astelia is a Cosy Cottage, handy to walkways & amenities. Fire box definitely a bonus very efficient, instructions excellent and FYI jug performed perfectly once instructions. were consulted. We enjoyed the old school reading materials and poured over the wall maps, thankyou for having us.

Beautiful Spot

Another wonderful stay here. St Arnaud is such a wonderful little town and the property provides an authentic Kiwi bach experience. Potentially a little bit hard to fit all the linen etc. in your bag if you are flying (depending on how heavy of a packer you are) so just be aware of the linen requirements before booking :)

Paradise

Plenty to do with an hours drive - Murchison Golf Course, Red Park Golf Park etc. Great collection of DVD’s and books. Beautifully positioned by the stream and native forest. We loved playing Trivial Pursuit and lighting the log burner. Loved it so much we messaged the owner and asked if we could extend our stay. We were delighted when she messaged back with 10 minutes to say we could. Would definitely come back!!
