About this property

Sugarhouse Lodge—A Secluded Hilltop Retreat

Beautiful 4 bedroom house on 5 secluded acres. Located at the end of a private lane just across the covered bridge from the quaint town of Waitsfield in the heart of the Mad River Valley. Only a few miles from Mad River Glen and Sugarbush ski resorts.

Open floor plan with vaulted ceilings and rustic wood-burning stove. There are two large bedrooms on the top floor, each with its own balcony where you can enjoy your morning coffee and take in the mountain views. The master bedroom suite opens out to the wrap-around deck. The bottom floor is a large bedroom suite with its own recreation area with foosball table.

Slip into an Adirondack chair by the natural stone firepit and watch Scragg Mountain glow in the sunset. Relax in the hammock under the rustle of the tall trees. Hike or mountain bike the private trails maintained by the owners. Go for a stroll to enjoy the wildflowers and pick raspberries and blackberries in the summer. Hop on a bike and coast to the famous covered bridge swimming hole on the Mad River. Perhaps you would like to strap on some snowshoes (or hiking shoes) and take the hiking trails to Wu Ledges, accessible by a short walk from our driveway down the lane to the trail head. The view of the Mad River Valley from Wu Ledges is breathtaking in every season!

Kids will love the swing set with slide and clubhouse! There is even a small sledding hill on the property!

Snowshoes, bikes (with child seat), canoe, river tubes, sleds, and other equipment are available to help you enjoy the outdoors. In warm weather, Blueberry Lake, various swimming holes, waterfalls, and hiking trails are all nearby.

Attending an event at The Round Barn? The house is 0.7 miles away from this amazing venue.

If you are looking for a long weekend away, Sugarhouse Lodge is the way to go. Check-out is flexible, so you can make the most of your stay, and you can still ski the day you leave.

If interested, the town of Stowe is 45 minutes away and Killington is about an hour away.

Wonderful!
Beautiful home/property! The house was very clean, and well stocked with things you may have forgotten or didn't realize you would need (flash lights, bug spray, sunscreen, etc). Matt and Renee were so kind and easy to communicate with. We enjoyed the fire pit, expansive yard with private trails, and fall leaves. Excellent home/property for our first trip to Vermont!

Best ever!
We had a super time staying at Sugarhouse Lodge! Our hosts thought of everything to make our stay complete. The home was beautiful, spacious, clean, convenient to town and attractions (and our extended family nearby!). Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place!

Another great week in the Mad River Valley
We love this house, and we haven't even used many of its great features, like the grill, firepit, and climbing wall. It has the most spacious tables for dining and tabletop gaming that we have encountered. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the air conditioning is a lifesaver for my older relatives. We discovered three more excellent nearby day hikes this year!

Lovely Country Stay
This is a beautiful home that had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We stayed for 7 days, and never ran out of fun things to do. It is located down a secluded and forested lane. We lost power for several hours during a thunderstorm due to downed trees and power lines. Our hosts were prepared with several lanterns and flashlights available for us to use.
