My husband, myself, and our two boys (3 and 8 months) loved our stay at the lake. Darcey and family did such a lovely job renovating the cabin — we loved all the original details they kept giving the place some charm while managing to make everything feel really clean and new. They provided everything you needed and all the towels / beds / sheets / pots and pans / furniture etc seemed to be brand new. The lake front is better the photos. There’s lots of wild life - loons, owls, bald eagles, tons of fireflies at night. Truly magical. BUT the one downside is that the upstairs of the camp, where the three bedrooms are, are not insulated and the roof of the house bakes, getting full sun all day. We didn’t get that hot of weather (70s mostly, some high 80s 1-2 days) but the upstairs was HOT. Our baby monitor registered over 95 degrees up there almost every day. We purchased a cheap digital
Thermometer just to make sure it was accurate and it was. We couldn’t let our kids nap up there which was a huge problem. Even at 7pm when it was bedtime for the kids, it was still in the mid 80s up there. Doable but not particularly comfortable. For adults it’s not an issue if you go to bed at 10 or later and put the fans in and windows open. But if you have young kids who nap this is something to know. Hopefully they will get a more powerful AC as they one they had did not lower the temp. Seems like a simple fix and then the place will be truly perfect!
