Solo travelers get a discount. No smoking & no pets please!
Please note: This is a no smoking home & property!!
I only accept reservations for a minimum of 2 nights.
For those coming to Quincy to visit friends/family: Please note that the home is not available as a gathering spot. It is only for registered guests. I can make an exception but we need to talk about it ahead of time.
Creekside is located in the Sierra Nevadas, along Highway 70. It's 2.5 miles from East Quincy and 6 miles from downtown Quincy. Stay here and relax to the sound & sparkle of the creek. The home is surrounded by the Plumas National Forest. It is also one of the most economical places to stay in town, for this is a town where a spartan motel room costs about $90.
WHAT CREEKSIDE HAS: A friendly creek that runs year-round and also runs right past your back deck. It has deer and foxes and turkeys and squirrels and wonderful songbirds and, yes, there’s even a chance you’ll see a California black bear but, in fact, it isn’t likely. In the 15+ years I’ve been hosting, only 2 guests have seen a bear. I want you to know it’s possible but unlikely. FYI: A California black bear’s behavioral traits are NOTHING like a grizzly bears.
WHAT CREEKSIDE DOES NOT HAVE: These are stumbling blocks for some guests, so I want to be clear: 1) It doesn’t have television reception. 2) The internet is not as fast as that of a city but videos can be watched without buffering!
So, for your entertainment there are games to play and there are movies to watch on the dvd player and there is a creek to sooth you and animals to look for. I hope that’s enough for you to choose to stay “Creekside”.

I loved talking with you :) Say hi to Demond for me and also tell him that I enjoyed talking with him and please thank him for taking such good care of my old family home!! Y'all stay safe during hurricane season!!!!
Creekside is simply wonderful! It was quiet and we loved listening to the water run and the crickets in the evening. Although we didn't need anything during our stay, Barbara is just next door. I loved the old books she had on the shelf and the home has many family items throughout that were lovely. To be honest, it was the breakfast nook in the kitchen that sold me when I was looking for a place to book. We'llve already started talking about the best time to come back!
This property has a river behind it that has chairs and a table set up to relax, listen, and unwind. It is private and set up with all amenities. It is close to town if one desires. The owner has many brochures and books and maps on how to explore the area
Oh what a cozy stay. We loved having our happy hour wine on the chairs by the creek. The master bed was SOOO comfy! We so wanted to see a bear but all we saw was bear poop! We definitely would come back!! Thank you Barbara!

Creekside in August
The property was beautiful. I loved the backyard and the tranquility if the creek/river. The house was old and full of interesting history, very clean and tidy. The owner Barbara was very pleasant to work with. The only down fall is the traffic sound it is fairly close to the road.

Thanks for coming to Creekside, Carey! It's funny, since I grew up here it never even occurred to me to think it noisy! I'm so used to it that, for me, it's white noise. I have put some different curtains in the bedroom now and they are supposed to be sound deadening, they say by 40% . I have a couple of other plans that will help but they will be far more labor intensive :) Again, thanks for coming and it pleases me that you called it clean and tidy! I tell my friends I strive for Marine Clean (as I'm sure you noticed, both my parents were Marines!) Sincerely, Barbara
Lovely spot. The house is well-stocked, all needs and more supplied. Everything works, without much effort. Nice to be next to a running creek and a bit of forest, but not too far from town. The highway sounds and occasional train did not bother us. We had a great time. Good chance we'll return.
Barbara’s beautiful home is reminiscent of yesteryear. The rental was spotless and had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was well stocked with spices, oils, coffee, and tea… bed was extremely comfortable and it was wonderful falling asleep to the sound of the backyard creek.
There are beautifully maintained pieces of antique furniture, along with a great selection of old and interesting books…quite a few games and movies to choose from.
We met Barbara who was extremely welcoming and helpful. we will definitely be back.

Peaceful and relaxing creekside accomendations!
Hello Barbara,
Thank you for making my husband and I feel so welcome at your special place by the creek. One of the things, both my husband and I, have come to truly appreciate is nostalgia for a time gone by. Your guest house was very clean, equipped with modern conveniences and yet was very reminiscent of the past. I loved the vintage aprons hanging in the closet and the quaintness of your place. We loved the trains, rich local history, hiking, lakes and rivers. See you soon, Marcia & Neil

I absolutely loved meeting you and talking with you, can't believe how much we have in common!
This is the home Barbara grew up in and you can tell she truly cares about the place. It is inviting and comfortable. It is well-stocked with kitchen items, extra bedding and pillows, a first aid kit, some toiletries, etc. There's even a multitude of maps and guides to aid in your exploration of the area. Yes, she lives next door as a reviewer pointed out, but she makes a point to be unobtrusive. Yet she is available if needed. The creek in the woods just yards from the back deck is the icing on the cake. Bundling up in the 40-degree weather to drink my morning coffee seated beside the gurgling water was a highlight of the stay. We will be back.

Good for the right guests
Good for folks who welcome lots of direction for how to treat everything from fragile vinyl floors to aging tables. Also, be prepared to be flexible about power and water, which really didn't bother us. We did grow tired of continued direction around how to care for the home, and unfortunately being thought to have stained a bedside piece of furniture, which we did not. And she was disappointed that we carefully brought our bicycles inside. And btw, we're ~60 yrs old. We did wonder if the home was appropriate for vrbo purposes, despite the host's concerns about our comfort. Expect frequent communication from the host, who lives next door.
Once again, our time here was wonderful. Barbara is so helpful and communicative, and always makes us feel welcome. It’s a beautiful home and is very quiet. Yes, you can hear the highway but it’s not too bad. Plus, when the train goes by it’s not overwhelmingly loud since it passes high up on the ridge. Being there in the snow was a lovely experience and we cannot wait to come back! Thank you so much Barbara!
I had a great time at this little cabin in the woods. I was stocked with the essentials and was very cozy. Barbara was a great host. I hope to return again soon.
