About this property
Sugarhouse Guest House: 400+Mbps wifi. No cleaning fee. Free Parking. Cozy!
Cozy cottage on the back of our property. Windows look out on our lawn and garden. Park in your own driveway. One bedroom, ¾ bathroom, kitchenette, and small living room with a futon and table. Either two twin beds OR we can tether them together into a king upon request. Families are welcome if the kids are ok with the spare beds. We have a spare twin mattress we can put on the floor, a blow-up twin, a pack and play, a fold up bassinet. We can fit two adults and 3+ children comfortably, or three-to-four adults using the extra beds: no per-person charge. (Message us about any 4 adult reservation.) Kitchen has range/oven, full size refrigerator/freezer, and sink. Washer and dryer access in the garage. We have solar panels, so your electricity use during the day is renewable. High speed Wifi (200-250 Mbps) in the house and most of the yard, and a whole house surge protector is installed. There is a hard line Ethernet connection available which bypasses our systems for your security. We also have a 115v 30amp power outlet if you have an adapter and an electric car.
This is a non smoking property. We are unable to host smokers because of a strong allergic reaction as well as asthma. Disposables and consumables shown in the photos may vary in reality, but we will provide soap and shampoo and tea at a minimum. The path to the house is not perfectly flat (stones) and there is a step to get in, not great for anyone with significant mobility issues or who is prone to tripping.
We have free range chickens, including a small rooster. They are friendly and we keep the paths clean. However, we cannot guarantee the cleanliness of off-path areas.
If you prefer a refundable deposit vs the insurance policy, let me know. I can change it before you book but not after. If you choose the deposit option, I like to return deposits within 24 hours of check out.
Please remember that you are staying in a home, not a hotel. Please treat the space with respect. If any problems arise, we will do our best to take action ASAP. We own, operate, and clean this rental all ourselves; we care about your comfort and enjoyment!
Early check-in or late check-out are usually available if arranged the day before.
Security camera disclosure: We have outside facing cameras, mostly on the owner portion of the property and driveways. They do not point at the guest house itself in any way.
We are 30min from ski slopes, and just off the bus line. We are very close to the University of Utah and Primary Children's Hospital. In fact, you can drive or bus to either in about 10 minutes.

About the host
Hosted by Rachel & David Ng, 吳
David and Rachel Ng are excited to welcome you! David works nearby at the University and we will be at home during your stay. You might hear our kids if the windows are open, or see us out enjoying the yard. We will be close by if you need anything.
We are a couple of young folks with old fashioned tastes. We enjoy hospitality, learning obscure things, and extreme DIY projects. David has a passion for tools, and Rachel thinks that comes in handy. Rachel is an artist, and David enjoys her traditional style. David has a large homemade telescope, so you might catch us outside after dark admiring Saturn or Jupiter. David can speak Cantonese; Rachel was once fairly fluent in ASL but has sadly forgotten much of it.

Why they chose this property
Sugarhouse is conveniently located close to many of the main attractions you may be coming to Salt Lake City for. We have a guide book in the house detailing a list of free activities and things to see. It is a quick zip downtown, an easy jump onto the freeway, or a short trip into the mountains.
People from other regions may not be familiar with the health risks of radon, which seeps naturally from the ground and can become trapped in houses. It is very common in mountain areas. We have a radon mitigation system under the house, running 24/7.

What makes this property unique
The property is in a quiet neighborhood which is mostly level and great for walks. We love that we are able to host guests on our property in their own house. It was built into the back of the original garage. It has its own heater and water heater. The property also has a water softener and surge protection.
We are happy to welcome two adults and their children, or up to 4 adults if they are ok with the "spare" beds. We do not currently charge any extra fee per person.
