About this property
Private 10 acre Family Friendly Cabin w/zipline minutes from Mississippi River!
The perfect year-round family getaway! Spend time playing outside at the playgrounds right outside your front door, cooking smores over the fire or exploring the nearby Mississippi River town of Lansing, IA. Deer sightings right from the cabin are common so be on the lookout right after dawn and right before dusk. 10 acres of land to roam around with your pet or for a leisure stroll!
If keeping your young ones entertained is your goal, (we have 3 young kids) then book now! We have 2 playgrounds, a large sandbox, outdoor toys, and a brand new zip-line! We get asked this quite often, “is it private?” Yes, it is, it’s all on our privately owned 166-acre property!
In the winter time we have sleds to do some sledding or bring your snowshoes for a hike around the property!
Want to stay inside? Cozy up to a movie on the two different smart TVs or play the 10+ board games with the family. Indoors or out, this is a great place to make lasting memories together no matter what time of year.
The main level features a full bath, 1 bedroom with a queen-sized bed off of the kitchen, a spacious living room, dining area with a complete kitchen. (Utensils, pots pans, Keurig coffee maker, microwave)
Don’t worry about packing linens or towels, we provide a clean and comfortable stay!
There is a loft with a full and twin-size bed and plenty of children's toys!
The basement has a full bathroom, bedroom with a king-sized bed and another large living room with a TV (same features as the upstairs TV) and a cozy couch.
The main level has YouTube TV, along with Netflix and access to various apps on smart TVs. Wireless internet throughout the house for those pesky emails and to entertain the teenagers :)
There are two fire pits on the property, firewood is included with your stay. There are marshmallow roasting sticks, firestarter, and plenty of chairs to sit down and relax with a cold beer, glass of wine, or a juice box!
A gas grill is located on the cabin porch. (Propane is provided and in the event you run out we have extras on site)
Activities nearby include trout streams, boating or fishing on the Mississippi, plenty of local shops, restaurants, bars, grocery store, and gas stations just 5 minutes away. For hiking or hunting enthusiasts, there are 1000+ acres of public land to explore in multiple directions of Lansing.
Mt. Hosmer lookout has hiking trails and two river view lookouts! The view is absolutely amazing! A must-see for everyone. There are restrooms, picnic areas, and a playground there as well.
Prairie Du Chien and LaCrosse, WI are both a 45-minute drive away for other exploration opportunities.
And if trout fishing is your aim you should also check out some of the finest coldwater trout streams anywhere: Lansing Clear Creek at Clear Creek Park (only about a 2 minute drive from the cabin; 1972 South Road on the west edge of town); Wexford Creek (1416 Great River Road) and the French Creek Wildlife Area to name a few. Check with the DNR to find which area streams are stocked on a regular basis.
There are two boat landings if the Mississippi is your destination. Both are about a 5-10 minute drive from the cabin and we have plenty of parking on-site for multiple boats.
If you’re looking for something different, we also have another property that overlooks the Mississippi River high atop the bluff located just across the river near Desoto, WI. Property ID #2045955
Note: There is a second cabin owned by us that my father stays at occasionally. The two houses are far enough apart for privacy. If he is on-site (which is rare) for your stay he can lend a hand with any issues that may come up, give recommendations, and UTV rides! Let us know if you have any questions.

About the host
Hosted by Joe and Ashley

We purchased this property with my parents in 2011 as our own home away from home! The cabin you will be staying in was built brand new in 2012, some of the logs were harvested right there on the property.
All of our children have been going there since birth. We even use it to celebrate various holidays, hike, hunt, and just relax!

Why they chose this property
Very secluded and private with 10 acres to roam around. Don't want to leave your pet at home, well bring them along! Lansing and the surrounding area is very friendly and safe. We have 3 young children and we have no problems feeling safe and comfortable. Our nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles all come up and spend time there as well. We are off the beaten path but just minutes from civilization.
What makes this property unique
This place is very quiet and peaceful. When my wife and I sit out on the porch to take in the crisp morning air while sipping on our coffee we will see deer, various birds, turkey, and other wildlife!
