Forest Lodge is a peaceful oasis only 15 minutes from the pristine beaches of Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 on Queensland's east coast where the Great Barrier Reef begins.
Here you can book a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, a ride on the LARC to nearby sand dunes and lighthouse, visit the museum, walk the numerous scenic walk ways or just enjoy yourself on the beaches or in one of the cafes and restaurants.
Rainforest, creeks, billabongs, birds and Australian wildlife - a tropical paradise. And only 15 minutes away stunning beaches from tranquil coves, long stretches of white sand, surf and a patrolled beach for safety. Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 are access points to the Great Barrier Reef with daily services to Lady Musgrave Island only one and a half hour out by smooth riding catamaran.

I hugely enjoyed my stay in the Little Villa at the Forest Lodge! The villa was exactly what I needed to relax and recharge my batteries ... peace and quiet and surrounded by tropical forest and birds! Not only has it everything you need but its also beautifully designed and decorated with a super comfy bed!
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming.
Highly recommended!

It was a great pleasure to have had Meike as a guest at our place. Meike is incredible thoughtful about nature, wildlife and the environment. Meike had a keen interest in the Sugar Gliders we house till they are ready for release and visited them every evening. She left our little Villa spotless. We couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant guest and would love to see her again any time. We certainly can recommend her to anyone.
When my wife contracted Covid owners were very good and let us change our booking at no extra cost. It meant we couldn’t have the mentioned accommodation and we were in the Bali Retreat their other unit which was great. We were a little way from the beaches but there wasn’t much traffic and it was no problem at all. It meant we travelled past the local IGA supermarket which was ideal.
Beautifully decorated home tucked away on a large piece of woodland. The comfortable banks on the veranda look right into all kind of trees and plants and wildlife passes by. Large king size bed. The room has no airco but it rarely gets extremely hot apparently and the fans cooled well. Kitchen facilities were enough to prepare meals; there is even a small oven. The house is a few 100 meters from the road to Agnes Water which only has light traffic. The big attraction is that the owners spent all their money on caring for sugar gliders and fruit bats which have been brought in because of some issue. They soft relocate them; they are held in large aviaries where they can get out and come back as long as needed after they are ready for their return in nature. The owners feed the animals at dusk which is a rare sight. We have decided to create a donation website for them; the rental is also meant to finance their wildlife care costs.
A perfect private peaceful stay with all the comforts you need. Beautiful relaxing surroundings. Waking up to the sounds of nature & time to chill😊

The accommodation was very comfortable, set in a peaceful, sprawling tropical garden with lots of birds. I especially loved my encounter with the possums & their very obliging & friendly carers.
If you are chasing a quiet weekend away with your partner then this is perfect. Not far from Agnes Waters and 1770 its a hidden gem.

About the host
Hosted by Manfred + Helene
We are wildlife carers for the last 25 years. We look after orphaned and injured animals (mainly Gliders) and raise them to be released back into the wild. We are lucky to live on a large property with natural bushland and forests which allows us to (soft) release the animals here. We have created and designed our own space from the gardens to the house and like to get our hands dirty with gardening and building. Helene and Manfred
