Harts Delight is a very large, open and spacious villa featuring two air conditioned bedrooms, two full baths, high vaulted ceilings, a gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, a spacious Great Room and a large screened in porch area with views you will never want to take your eyes off! The villa was built on the hillside to capture the trade winds coming from the sea. To offer the utmost privacy, each bedroom is located on opposite sides of the villa. Spending your days lounging at the pool and eating dinner at the table on the screened in porch or the deck are great ways to spend the day when not enjoying the other parts of the island! The master bedroom has a king bed, the guest bedroom has two twin beds that can be converted into a king size bed for a couple or left as two twin beds to accommodate children.

Harts Delight being nestled in to the picturesque hills of Chocolate Hole on the South Shore of this beautiful island. Awaken each morning to the breath-taking views of Harts Bay and St. Croix in the distance. You will enjoy all paved roads on your way to your vacation villa. Upon coming down the driveway you will experience a home with beautiful landscaping including banana, starfruit and papaya trees that you can pick the fruit when ripe and eat right off of the tree. You will find yourself relaxing immediately upon entering the villa. Within walking distance of the Westin Resort, Harts Delight is less than a two minute drive to the popular village of Cruz Bay, offering many dining and shopping options, places to just sit and relax sip a cocktail and take in the relaxed pace of Island life.

There is a one bedroom vacation rental on the lower floor of this Villa. Both rentals share a common driveway and parking area with separate entrances and complete privacy from each other. The pool is not shared or used in any way by the lower rental and has complete privacy. The whole house can also be rented as a 3 bed/3 bath villa.

January retirement trip

Overall had a great time and the accommodations were fine. Our property manager was very responsive and helpful. The only thing the listing did not include was that the laundry is located in the one bedroom suite downstairs and is only available to the top floor if the occupants downstairs allow. Luckily, the people renting the lower level the last week were very friendly and didn't mind us using it.

We stayed at this property in January 2026. Based on our experience, several aspects of the listing and condition of the home did not match our expectations.The home does not have traditional glass windows; instead, it uses flap-style coverings. As a result, insects—including mosquitoes—were able to enter the living space, and we experienced bites during our stay every single night.The washer and dryer were not located within the main house as advertised. They are located in a separate lower unit that is rented independently, and access required coordinating with the other occupants and on-island contact.A key was not initially provided for the front door. While the door itself felt secure, we couldn’t lock it. It took approximately two days to receive the key after contacting the local representative.There is no air conditioning in the main living area. The kitchen ceiling fan was not working during our stay and, per the on-island contact, had been broken for some time. Without consistent airflow, the main living space felt very warm and stuffy.The beds were extremely firm and uncomfortable for our group.Overall, the property appears VERY dated and in need of maintenance. Chair cushions were worn and sunken, several light bulbs were not functioning, and there was visible chipped paint throughout the home.Positive note: The shower had strong water pressure and consistent hot water.

Great week at Harts Delight

Renting was a very easy and smooth experience, communication was really good and I felt very confident we would have a great week, which we did. The house was perfect for our family of four with a large screened-in porch offering beautiful views to relax on after long days snorkeling. It was also nice to be able to cook in and not have to eat out unless we wanted to. The location of this property is fantastic - super convenient to Cruz Bay (from where you can pick up any road to take you where ever you want for the day), local grocery stores, and the car ferry dock.

We absolutely loved our stay at Harts Delight and visiting the island of St.John! The house was just perfect for us, the screened in porch with great views was amazing in the mornings for coffee and at the end of the day while enjoying our cocktails. The pool is perfect for cooling off after laying out in the sun. The house had everything that we needed (and more.....games, cards, books and even some books about the island) and it was so easy to work with Chris to book and when we arrived, Abby was so knowledgeable about the house and the island. We will definitely be back but longer next time! St. John is our new favorite spot and we will stay at Harts Delight again!

Rented during spring break week and couldn't have been happier. The fantastic layout of the house with a huge screened in porch as its centerpiece was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable. Every small detail was thought of (such as each light switch was labeled). The showers gave the feeling of being outdoors. A million dollar view. A great location with a fifteen minute hike to Hart's Bay beach. Greeted with rum punch and a stocked bar. Left feeling totally relaxed. Need I say more?

Spectacular views in quiet setting

The highlights of this property were its spaciousness, privacy, and prime location. The house had a big open great room that looked out on the very large screened terrace. A huge space for just the two of us. Would be good for a small family. There was complete privacy from the neighbors. The house is on a hill with a nice view looking out on Hart's Bay. The terrace was great for sitting and enjoying the view and the ocean breeze. The house was clean and neat and we had everything we needed including things for the beach like towels and chairs. The A/C in the bedrooms only was nice for sleeping. Conveniently located near grocery shopping and gas station. We had great communication with the property manager who on the first day guided us by phone in our rental car to the property because the driving in St. John is challenging. Parking on the island is not easy -best to get to the beach early in the morning or later in the afternoon.

Wonderful spaces, screened-in porch, and beautiful views!

Our family of four (adults) spent 4 nights at Hart's Delight. Abby, the property manager, was super attentive inquiring about our preference for beds in the second bedroom (2 twin vs king), directing us to the unit, and getting us checked in. The well-laid out unit is spacious and the porch was the most amazing of those spaces. Large kitchen. Unit had coolers and beach towels which helped us out tremendously. Wifi was handy. Very comfortable! We were exploring beaches the entire time but the pool was lovely for those really wanting one. Driveway is steep with a pretty good grade break at the road which is only sketchy the first time you pull in since it's hard to see in front of the car for a split second but after that it just felt like normal St John - we rented a RAV4 and it had no issues accessing the property. This is a lovely property and we would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends and would absolutely stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

perfect house for an incredible trip

There is not one bad thing I can say about our stay here. We were met by Sinbad at aqua blue, and he led the way to the house pointing out all the necessary stops we would need while here (gas grocery garbage) He gave us the tour of the home and helped us get situated with his rocket fuel which as much needed after a day of traveling. The house has it all, open air views, comfy beds, stocked kitchen, some booze, some left over sunscreen and bug spray, maps, books, games, tv, radio, beach chairs, towels, coolers, snorkel gear, pool noodles, etc. Just bring yourself and some bathing suits! nice location close to cruz bay, just absolutely perfect. I cannot wait to come back and rent the lower level as well with some more friends!

The place was nice. Smelled musty when you first got there. Several fans did not work. Towels in masterbath smelled bad, had to wash to wash them & still had an odor. Blood on bottom sheet & pillow case but did not notice till day of leaving. Living room TV quit working midway through our stay but really didn't care. Good location. Lots of things handy like coolers, & ice packs, fins, & things for the beach. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Great view!

The view is fantastic and we loved the kitchen for making dinner together. We thought the pictures did an excellent job showing the actual property pool. The pool was really nice and the screened in porch is where we spent most of our time when we were home. The Property manager was extremely responsive if we had questions or needed anything. The place itself is not brand new and needs a little TLC. If that type of thing bothers you it might not be the right rental for you. It did not bother us and we were thrilled with the clean beds and clean bathrooms. The layout of the place is great because we each had our section of house - our bedroom and bathroom were on opposite sides, which gave us the privacy we wanted traveling with another couple.

I had booked this at the last minute and didn't really read right that the AC was ONLY in the bedrooms. That alone would have been manageable if there was a generator for the property. Given the amount of outages on the island, this should have been a no brainer for the owner. There were cockroaches seen by all 4 of us. The last communication from the property manager was SMH when I asked about the generator on the second day. Told the property is for sale and it shows that they don't care about the renters. The beds were uncomfortable. The location was great.

Wonderful Hart's Delight

The spaciousness of this house is truly amazing - huge living room and screened in porch are highlights. The porch was our "home" for our stay - it has a beautiful view of Hart Bay and on to St. Croix on a clear day. The kitchen is spacious too, pretty well stocked and with some spices and herbs there which was nice. Ice maker/water dispenser in frig. was nice too. Bedrooms are very good size and so are the bathrooms. It was very nice to have all paper products and soaps supplied. Pool is small but fine; lounge area by pool is also small. A/c and fans in bedrooms were great, as were the fans in kitchen, bathrooms and living room. It was very easy communicating with Abby who was very responsive. Driveway is steep and narrow but manageable going slow. Fresh fruit grows on trees that you can harvest! Iguana visitor likes the pool deck! All in all this is a wonderful house!

The screened-in area that looks out over Chocolate Hole is breathtaking. The flowers on the property are beautiful, and the greenspace is well maintained. Our property manager was an excellent person who greeted us warmly and was very accessible. This property would be magnificent if upkeep and maintenance were a higher priority. Small things like a dysfunctional shower head in the main bathroom, an exit door to the pool that needs to be squared (so one does not need to lift it to open it), non-working smoke detectors, and a refrigerator that stopped working a couple of days before departure were distractions--but we were okay. If you find things like that unbearable you would have been frustrated. On-site washer and dryer are a huge plus. Comfortable beds and furniture, very clean, not so well-lighted, but inviting. It was perfect for two couples, and I would book the property in the future (I have stayed in 7 other properties on the island). Overall, I would give the property a rock-solid B.

Pictures Don't Do It Justice!

This is the first review I've ever done but it was absolutely necessary considering the amazing experience we had here. We rented a car on St. Thomas and Sinbad met us right off of the car barge on St. John. He was absolutely wonderful....showed us around the house, how to work everything and most importantly provided us with our first cocktail! He gave us several suggestions on where to dine and go out and he was spot on with each recommendation. The pictures that are posted here to do not do the house justice. It is absolutely gorgeous! It was a perfect layout for us...we traveled with one other couple and the bedrooms are separated by the living room and screened in porch so we each got a bit of privacy. The view is incredible and it was nice to be able to take a dip in the pool. We borrowed the snorkel gear several times which was VERY convenient for heading to the amazing beaches. The house provided us with everything we needed and more. Wish we could have stayed longer and I would absolutely recommend it to others! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

The PERFECT House!

Meeting Sinbad at the dock ferry and entering this beautiful house to a stocked bar including beer and set-ups and Sinbad pouring us our first rum punch...we knew we had picked the PERFECT House! Meeting Angie & Dan the first morning was a special treat as well! The screened in porch made the house feel so large. We loved sitting there and listening to the waves crashing on the rocks. We went exploring one morning and found a beach trail to the beach you can see from the porch....watched the sunrise from there. It was amazing! We appreciated all of the detailed reviews here which helped us choose this house (we are very picky). They were all very accurate! We used the beach chairs, coolers, floats, noodles, snorkel equipment, binoculars and the rum! I even read a book from the library... The basket of suntan lotions and bug spray was very helpful. There were renters downstairs and we never even saw them. We enjoyed the semi outdoor/indoor shower and loved having double sinks in the master bedroom...just like home! The house was very clean, quiet and safe. We never closed one window! The only bad part was leaving... When we return to St. John, this will be the rental for us again!

Great villa

Heart's Delight was close enough to shopping and dining in Cruz Bay but far enough to be quiet. Located in Chocolate Hole area halfway up the hillside, the villa had a great view of the salt pond and the ocean. The Westin Resort was close by where we could grab a taxi since we did not rent a car which would have cost us $800 for since days with car seat rental. We found taxis as a great low-cost alternative to get around. Many told us you have to have a car but we found it easier to walk and take taxis. The walking is for those in good shape, however. The hills are quite steep. The villa itself was a good value (St. John is not cheap though). The property manager was helpful and eager to please us. We had three little ones and there was plenty of space for all five of us. The ad lists the property as 2500 square feet. I'm not sure if this included the screened in porch and basement dwelling or not. But it felt large enough to spread out. The kitchen and living room were nicely appointed. The beds were extremely comfortable and the AC worked great. The bathrooms could use some updating but were spacious as well. Overall I highly recommend the villa. The landscaping and pool were delightful.

wee were told the doors would be open but in fact theywere not. When the maintenance guy came he struggled to open the doors and stated the keys were cut wrong. We struggled to use the keys , so unfortunatley we had to let the doors remain unlocked. The upstairs was as described but the ceiling fan in the kitchen did not work so without it, it was very warm in that area, The downstairs did not look like it had been cleaned prior to our arrival. I could write my name in the dust that was on the microwave and we found dirt on the floor and in the bathroom and the bathroom rug. The toilet seat in the downstairs bathroom had to be wrapped in toilet paper bc it was broken and eveytime you sat on it, you would get pinched. I think in the description it may help to say that the downstairs kitchen is located out the living space and across the porch so that people know they have to go into another space for the dining and kitchen space. The upstairs was alot better so we left our adult kids take that. It was a quiet area for the most part and the little pool was perfect. The price was great, it was just disappointing on the downstairs. The other thing is we got a text stating there would be a power outage from 9-11 p.m so we could not use the water. Giving us more than a 30 minute notice would have been helpful so that we could have got our showers ahead of time. The power outage never did happen. Check out instructions were easy. upstairs-8/10, down 6/10. id stay upstairs again

My husband and I enjoyed our honeymoon on St. John in 2006 and immediately fell in love with the island even though our luggage was lost and we arrived about five hours later than we were supposed to! With no luggage or a change of clothes for the next day, we decided to take our rental Jeep around and just explore the island. I've never seen wild chickens, goats, pigs, cows, donkeys or mongoose (what are they??) running around on their own! It was a sight to see and instantly I thought to myself that this would become my place. He had three children when we got married and we ended up bringing them with us a few times over the years. Since our marriage, he and I have two amazing little girls and they know just how lucky they are to be able to come and enjoy this little bit of paradise with us. Now our older kids have their plus ones and for the last three years we have had the privilege of coming here to celebrate Thanksgiving, together as a family. I am so thankful that we are able to enjoy this island as much as we are. We hope you will find the same love for it as we do!

Why they chose this property

Why this villa? Good question. Kind of a funny thing. During our 5 year home buying research here on island, we used to get a 'home for sale book' and just explore. We would find the villas that were for sale and if the villa was empty, we would park and go peep in the windows. We did this for years and even multiple times per year. Then we went to the internet to start looking from home when we couldn't be on island. This was the one home that based on pictures alone, I had absolutely no interest in even looking at. After much pleading from my husband, I finally agreed. It would only take a minute he said. I had my mind set on another home that showed beautifully in pictures. Turned out that the home that showed beautifully in pictures was actually very run down and ended up being taken away in the last hurricanes. This home though is masonry and solid. BUT most importantly, upon entering the doors for the first time ever, I felt safe. At home. Relaxed. Peaceful. Happy. That's why this home. I have never felt any different when entering ever since the first time I walked in. Don't get me wrong, the lovely couple we purchased from had lived here for about 25 years. TWENTY FIVE years of being an artist (hanging pictures every square inch of the villa), animal lovers (I love mine too but they never turned one away.....for twenty five years.) We had a lot of work to be done. Our realtor knew my style. She just kept reassuring me that it could be amazing. She was right and so was my husband. To this day, I am thankful for that. Truly.

What makes this property unique

The absolute BEST part of this home is our screened in porch. We have rented many, many villas on St. John since 2006 and never even knew there were any with a screened in porch. The bugs love me here. Trust me though, that's only a one way street, I really dislike them, very much. I am pretty sure that they station a few of themselves at the airport and start calling over here to St. John the minute that we land. "Hey you guys....she's back!" We can come home from enjoying a day on one of the beaches, get showered, change clothes and just sit on our screened in porch enjoying a cocktail before heading out to dinner and I don't get even a bite! ok, well sometimes I do but they have become few and far between. I have been known to use the bug zapper because one or two just get determined but for the most part, it's been fantastic!

Our manager Abby is the absolute best. She has strong roots here on island. One of the very best things that I can look back and say is that each and every villa that we have stayed at taught us something. Things to offer, things not to offer. Perks.
