Light, bright, with modern decor, this private accommodation is a guest suite separated from your hosts Gaye & Peter and provides a secure, well appointed place to relax and take a breath.
Generous breakfast provisions provided for your first morning stay.
Sunset Vista provides accommodation for up to 4 guests, ( a double foldout bed is available in the lounge area if required for more than two people).
A private and secure entrance with pin code access covered by a security camera which is located on the north facing wall, viewing entrance gate only.
The private residence has a security camera covering the driveway and a security camera front door bell.
Retrieve your key with the access code provided to you and enter through the locked gates into your own personal courtyard lined with potted plants, furnished with table and chairs, electric bbq grill.
Your key will open the glass sliding door providing entry to your well furnished, reverse cycle, ducted, air-conditioned apartment through the kitchenette, which is fitted out with modern appliances including an automatic washing machine under the kitchen bench, small fridge/freezer stocked with amazing local and fresh produce for your first mornings breakfast. The kitchenette has a toaster, electric kettle, microwave oven, toaster oven/grill, induction cooktop, Nespresso coffee pod machine to enable easy cooking options.
There is a white china dinner set, stainless steel cutlery set, a range of wine, beer and water glasses, and a utensil drawer filled with useful cooking gadgets. There are saucepans, mixing and storage bowls as well as the George Foreman outside cooking grill to give many options for eating in house. A well stocked pantry provides many of the staples needed for adding that little extra zest to your meal. Fresh garden herbs picked from our organic garden are also available to compliment any meal you may wish to prepare, you only have to ask. Coffee pods and teas are provided.
For your safety, there is a smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm installed just outside the kitchen and you will find a fire extinguisher and fire blanket as well as a first aid kit in the kitchen cupboard next to the sink in the unlikely event of a fire. (We can never be too careful and it pays to be prepared). On the bench in the kitchenette you will find a well prepared guest book providing you with all the information needed for a comfortable stay.
Moving through the kitchenette you will find a good sized bathroom with shower and seperate bath. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand wash are all provided for your convenience. Luxurious, soft bath towels, hand towels and face cloths are provided for each guest. Soft tissues, make-up pads and cotton buds are also provided. A hair blow dryer also provided and stored in the sink cupboard, along with sunblock for those times you choose to visit the beach. The toilet is next to but seperate from the bathroom and fitted with a ceramic toilet suite. The wet areas are tiled, the passage has a beautiful timber floor and the living areas are laid with lush charcoal carpet.
The passageway to the bedroom and living area is lined with historical photos of local areas first established between 1912 and 1915.
Along the passage wall are the controls to your ducted heating and cooling system which will provide you with the perfect temperature for your stay. There is no need to open the flap on the Samsung control. All you need to do is press the on/off button then either increase or decrease the temperature buttons. Please do not adjust any settings on the Platinum 11 unit. It is a very quiet unit, so ensure you turn it off when leaving the house to prevent over cooling or heating the area.
The bedroom has a queen size, comfortable bed with high quality linen and large, soft pillows. There is a bedside table with a lamp and power points on each side of the bed. The large built in robe offers plenty of clothes hanging space, shelves and drawers. There is an ironing board and iron also available for you and the board is stored in the wardrobe, while the iron is in the cupboard above the microwave in the kitchenette. You will also find a small vacuum cleaner in the main robe.
The additional sleeping for two people is in the living room which has a large leather sofa which folds out to a double bed, with the option of having a memory foam topper for extra comfort. The bed will not fold back into a lounge while the topper is on. However the topper can be stored behind the leather lounge for longer stays. There is a wall mounted Smart TV and a book shelf with a variety of reading materials.
A small dining table and chairs as well as side coffee tables are also provided for comfort and convenience.
After your day of winery tours, shopping, exploring the beaches, wildlife parks or just taking time to relax, think about pouring yourself a glass of your favourite beverage and wander out onto the front verandah to sit and watch the sun as it sets over the ocean with the most amazing display of colours.
Gaye & Peter look forward to making your stay as relaxing or as fun filled as you would like it to be.
You may get to see our friendly family of magpies that regularly show up on the front lawn. Until we meet...

About the host

Host profile image
Hi my name is Gaye and my husband of 47 years is Peter.
I am an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Yoga Teacher and Massage Therapist and have a passion for helping people find the path to good health.
Peter is now retired and enjoying life on the coast.
Together we set up a seperate guest apartment within our home to provide a place for people to come and stay, to rest, relax and rejuvenate from the very fast pace of living.
We are so lucky to have had an amazing experience with a large variety of guests from all walks of life and from many different countries. Many of whom we continue to remain in contact with.
As hosts we are here to provide the very best experience possible for each guest and are available as needed to guide you to some of the best local wineries, restaurants and beaches as well as advice on getting around whether by car, train, bus, or taxi.
We also respect your privacy and after meeting with you where possible on your arrival or soon after, we leave further contact up to you and your guests.

Why they chose this property

After living in Adelaide from the time we were married in 1975 to 2000, we decided to move to Queensland for a change of climate and lifestyle, once our children had left to make their own way in life.
We set up home and business in Forest Lake, a lovely suburb in Brisbane and enjoyed the outdoor style of living with our new found friends. Life was great, business was good and we flew our sons and their girlfriends to Queensland to visit us many times in the ten years we were there. As the boys became serious in their relationships and weddings were planned and babies arrived, it became harder to say goodbye to our growing family.
Nearing the end of 2009 we decided it was time to sell up and move back to Adelaide to be closer with our family.
We found this amazing home nestled between some very beautiful Southern beaches and the award winning wineries in the McLaren Vale region. It was perfect for setting up a Yoga Training Centre, a Massage Therapy Clinic and an Ayurvedic Health Practice and still enough room for Peter and I to live privately and very comfortably.
We are now semi retired, as well as being Nanna and Poppa to our four amazing granddaughters.
Having a couple of spare bedrooms and a bathroom rarely used, we decided to convert a third of our house to an apartment, where we could bring our friends from Brisbane to stay and still have their privacy.
We engaged professional builders to design and create a kitchen out of the laundry and put in privacy fencing and screening so guests could have their own courtyard and private outdoor eating area.
It was then that our Bed and Breakfast apartment was born.
We opened for business in October 2018 and have been enjoying the adventure ever since.
We have met some amazing people and have fun preparing the apartment for each new guest.

What makes this property unique

We love the position of the house set on a corner with a park opposite and amazing ocean views. It has a verandah at the front where we spend many evenings with a glass of our favourite McLaren Vale wine watching the colourful sunsets over the ocean. Beautiful in Spring, Summer and Autumn and stunning when the Winter storms roll in off the sea.
The house has a welcoming charm and our visitors, clients and guests all feel at home with us.
A short stroll takes us over a parkland and into a wetland where the bird life is abundant, More so when the winter rains arrive.
On the hot days of summer the ocean beckons and it is one of the only two beaches in Adelaide where cars can be taken onto the beach. Great for setting up camp for the day. White sandy beach in summer with amazing rock pools to explore on low tide. Then when winter comes, the ocean pebbles make their way to the top of the sand and the terrain takes on a totally different aspect. Walking past the ochre coloured cliffs and stopping to chat with locals walking their dogs adds a unique flavour to the beach experience.
Highly recommended for any time of the year.
