Secure private apartment in a fantastic location!

The apartment is centrally located in Antigua, but also very quiet- a block away from most shops, good restaurants, etc. Wi-Fi was excellent for the entire 2-week stay, as was water pressure. The security into the courtyard is very good and the housekeeping staff during the day were friendly and helpful. The kitchen is very small; however, microwave, toaster oven, stove, purified water bottle, were all there making it easy to make meals or reheat take-out. Directly across from the building is a charming restaurant with a great roof terrace, Aqua. I would definitely book here again when I return to Antigua.

This was a nice unit and all the amenities were good. However, the bed was not very comfortable and there was a strong smell of mildew in the unit from the shower. It began to go away after a few days of showering. Overall I had a good experience with this Vrbo

Drawbacks in a lovely location

I chose this place because of the view and colonial decor, and it delivered on those. Mayra,the property custodian was always available during the day and is a lovely person. Of my11 VRBO/ HomeAway stays, this was the first that offered almost no amenities. Two tiny bars of soap in the bathroom and a dishwashing sponge and paste in the kitchen. One dull cutting knife but no salt, pepper, oil, sugar or other basics needed for cooking. An owner cannot expect a renter to buy all these if they want to cook a simple meal, like breakfast. Also, the building is advertised as "pet friendly" which is fine, assuming that the pets are well-trained. I believe in Barbara Woodhouse's maxim, "No Bad Dogs..." On my first day, I was greeted by a small dog running down the stairs, barking and making a mad dash at me, followed by its owner. Said dog's barking woke me twice at 6am. Then there was the large black dog, that, when I opened my door to investigate its barking in the courtyard, rushed into my apartment! Neither dog was leashed, as per the apartment rules. I suggest that the building owners either make the place exclusively for dog owners or make a real effort to enforce their rules.

Quiet Great Location

Two and a half blocks from the heart of Antigua. Next door are ruins, quite remarkable part of Antigua’s history. Stunning rooftop views of Volcanos Fuego, Acatenango and Agua, doesn’t get much better than that. I saw Fuego spurt lava several times (from a very safe distance) and at night it is awe inspiring. Two levels of typical Spanish courtyard centre with cozy totally contained apartments with (smallish kitchen), computer desk, dining table, bedroom and bathroom. This was a business trip, it had everything I needed plus the added feel of being on vacation. I will definitely be staying here again!
