Great property right on the lake; serene views and good fishing. Comic relief provided by the local wildlife. Wraparound new deck will make outdoor dining so convenient and pleasant.
We stayed at this nicely renovated cottage for a week and really enjoyed its nice location, good weather and lots of fresh air. It is situated steps from Opinicon lake, away from from city and road noise. The owner, who was very helpful, let us use their boat, and we did some fishing. Views from the cottage deck were gorgeous. Hope to come there again!

Beautiful setting and property. Great location. Private and quiet. The home was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Bring your own sheets and towels through us off a bit however we managed. Rob and Deb were very friendly. Overall a nice stay.

HI Jill, Thanks so much for leaving us a great review of the Pines! Glad you had a restful and relaxing week on Lake Opinicon. Hope to see you again next year! Cheers, Rob & Debbie
We had a wonderful week visiting the Rideau Lakes area! The cottage was perfect for the 4 of us and the air conditioning was a special treat. We loved the view from inside and out on the deck. Chaffey’s Lock was a fun visit and we appreciated the convenience of the nearby General Store. We enjoyed kayaking on Opinicon Lake and sitting on the dock in the evenings. Our hosts were great! Would definitely recommend!!!

Jennifer and Rich (and their sons) were a delight to host. Their communication, cleanliness and respect for the cottage were all great. We’d love to host then next year!
Beautiful location lakeside next to Chaffeys Lock on Opinicon. Great views from large open kitchen and living areas. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over the lake and the heron stalk his daily breakfast from the reeds. We especially appreciated the easy to use heat/AC unit, especially on those nights when the temperatures dropped to the upper 30s Fahrenheit. Rob and Debbie are very responsive and helpful hosts.

Hi Eileen, thanks for leaving us a great review. It was a pleasure to host you and Nora, and we look forward to having you visit us again next May. Have a wonderful and safe winter! Rob & Debbie
We had a great time at this newly remodeled cottage! We enjoyed the peaceful location and Rob was great in helping us settle in for our week. The fishing on the lake is incredible, probably some of the best fishing I've seen in Ontario. We used the one two-seater kayak to get out almost every day. Our kids loved catching sunfish off the dock with worms and we caught a few large mouth bass in the bay... and saw lots of other fishermen being successful. There were no mice, but we did see a raccoon scoot down a neighbor's tree a few times for dinner. Deer are plentiful in this area. If you're looking for a swimming beach for young kids, then you'll probably prefer to drive over to a couple beaches that are super close. Kids loved kayaking over to the little islands and checking out the locks, as well as seeing the boats float by on the Rideau water "highway". If you need dark rooms for your kids to sleep in, then you could try big black garbage bags on the windows. Be sure to use blue or green painters tape so it doesn't wreck the walls in any way. This way your young kids can nap, sleep early, or sleep in, without the sunlight waking them up. Last, I loved the windy road from their place on Opinicon Rd. to Kingston. It's a new favorite. Hope you find your own "treasures" to treasure for a lifetime when you stay here.

Lots of potential.
Friendly hosts and neighbours. Listing wasn't accurate. Needs revision to reflect actual. A beautiful location and area. Property itself needs work to be ready for rentals.

Get away
We chose this area since we needed to drop our daughter off at Queen's and this lake is within one hour. Sitting on the dock, going for hikes on the Cataraqui trail and Rideau trails, boating and fishing all enjoyed. It is right near the Rideau canal locks. We were disappointed we could not swim off the dock ( weeds) and the double bed uncomfortable. Cottage dated and few too many mice for my liking. We are thankful for the ability to get away and enjoy a week vacation.

Hi Sandy. Thanks fir your comments. We’re glad you enjoyed Rideau Lakes area and Chaffey’s Locks. Lake Opinicon is well known as a fishing lake, and there are several good swimming spots on the lake, as we indicated.. We have lots of playful chipmunks but no Reported mice. Hope to see you next year.
A hidden gem - a traditional cottage on beautiful Lake Opinicon. Enjoyed kayaking and fishing on the lake, as well as night time camp fire and night sky watching. Close to Chaffrey's Lock and Brown's Marina (groceries and LCBO/Beer Store outlet), as well as the Cattaraqui Trail. Would love to visit again!
