About this property
Gorgeous Ocean View and Just Steps to the Beach!
Ocean views, the rustle of palm trees, the beach 100 steps away, and the sound of waves lulling you to sleep. We welcome you to Island Style Living on Kauai!
Beautiful natural cherry cabinets, slab granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, new electrical and light fixtures, paint, flooring, and window coverings. Next we furnished our condo with quality teak and rattan furniture, a comfortable king size bed, soft linens, a 50” flatscreen HDTV, SMART BluRay DVD player, Wifi Internet, along with a library of DVD movies and a book library filled with many local, historical, and Kauai guide books and maps. Gorgeous ocean views are amplified by a large mirror on one living room wall, inviting additional views of the ocean. And my creative husband made a driftwood lamp for our living room after I couldn’t find one that I liked. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook, bake, or bbq, with everything imaginable including spices, paper products, dish soap, sponges, plastic wrap, and foil. Everything to keep your eating costs down. And we didn’t forget your activities so there are beach towels, beach chairs, , and a small cooler. This unit comes fully furnished with kitchen items including microwave oven,
linens, bath and beach towels, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, cable TV,
free wireless internet, TV, stereo, CD & DVD player. Starter supplies of soap and paper products are provided. This condo does not have air conditioning, but normally tropical trade winds will keep you comfortable. Ceiling fans are in the bedroom.
Wake up in the morning and enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the waves in Hoai Bay only 100 feet away. Most mornings you can watch fishermen shore cast their nets hawaii-style into the ocean. Walk 2 minutes across the street to Lawai Beach for Poipu's best snorkeling (10 ft of clear water, tropical fish, turtles, and an occasional Monk Seal) and surfing (Pk's & Center's). All along Poipu's sunny shoreline is turtle country. Or take advantage of Prince Kuhio Resort's lush gardens and newly remodeled pool. Next door is Prince Kuhio Park. Full of history. Explore this park with its sacred Heiau (ancient hawaiian place of worship), monument to Prince Kuhio (last royal heir to the throne), and an ancient stone fish pond.
Prefer to take a walk? Walk down Lawai Road, past multi million dollar homes to the small boat harbor and on to Spouting Horn. Or take a short 15 minute walk to Kukui'ula Shopping Center with it's upscale shops, art galleries, fresh island restaurants, natural grocery store/deli, and Wednesday’s Farmer’s Market featuring local produce, baked goods, flowers, and many Hawaii made products. All while musicians play hawaiian music and sellers hand out samples!
Nearby attractions include Spouting Horn (a natural ocean geyser), gorgeous Allerton Gardens (with Jurassic Park trees) or McBryde Gardens (National Tropical Botanical Gardens), historic Koloa Town, many golf courses, hike Poipu Sandstone Shoreline Trail (look for whales and dolphins), take a horseback tour, or walk 100 feet to Hoai Bay for great diving and snorkeling. Even more island activities, adventures, and attractions are an easy drive away. At the end of your day, walk across the street for dinner at the award-winning Beach House restaurant and a sunset view you won't forget. Or stop by one of the local island markets and prepare your meals in our fully equipped kitchen. Prince Kuhio Resort's outdoor gas grills and dining area are also available for your use.
Whether you spend your days shopping, snorkeling at Lawai Beach, touring and exploring, or you venture further across the island to visit Hanalei, hike the Kalalau Trail, take an ATV tour, kayak the Wailua River, swim in a waterfall, hike along Waimea Canyon, go coffee tasting, or take an exciting helicopter tour of the island, you'll love coming home to relax at our beautiful condo. And don't forget to grab a favorite beverage and your camera, walk across the street to the lawns at the Beach House Restaurant and watch fabulous ever changing sunsets.
My husband and I have been happily spending time at Prince Kuhio for many years. We are an original owner of a studio purchased in 1977. When the opportunity arouse to purchase Prince Kuhio 201, an ocean view condo, we couldn’t stop ourselves! Kauai has always tugged at our hearts. We fell in love here and later married at the Fern Grotto when you could still walk inside it! We currently enjoy Kauai intermittently during the fall and winter months. Because we occasionally travel your inquiries or requests may be answered by our friend Florence Bergum.
We encourage all our guests to consider taking out trip insurance travel and accomodations, because our cancellation policy is strict.
Kauai has jusst imposed an additional 3% TAT tax to all rentals as of Oct. 1. 2021. This brings the total tax from 14.96% to 17.96%..

About the host
Hosted by Florence Bergum

My husband and I have owned property at Prince Kuhio since 1977. At that time we lived in Honolulu and came to Kauai for mini vacations. Later we moved to the mainland as Jimmy continued flying for a major airline. In 2014 we purchased and completely remodeled this unit, #201. A one bedroom, 1 bath ocean view condo. Though we travel the world, our hearts always pull us back to Kauai. Since retirement, we currently enjoy Kauai intermittently during the Fall and Winter months. We want to share our Kauai lifestyle with others, but we still travel occasionally so our friend Florence may answer your questions.
Why they chose this property
The island of Kauai and Prince Kuhio Resort has always been special to us. We bought our studio in 1977, we were married in the Fern Grotto (when you could actually walk inside the grotto), and have rebuilt twice after both hurricanes. In Feb 2014 we couldn't resist purchasing #201, an ocean view one bedroom condo. Remodeling began early Spring 2014 and was completed by Nov 2014.
Come and relax, make memories, and enjoy a week of adventures. Our sunny location provides the best Kauai has to offer.
