About this property

Banana room

Very spacious room overlooking giant bananas and ocean. Large closets and a big bathroom. Located on our 9-acre property full of fruit trees and gardens. The night sounds will lull you to sleep, and the chirping birds will gently wake you. Enjoy waking to the ocean view in your room with a cup of coffe in hand. We offer meals, massages or horseback riding, amongst other indulgences. See you soon.

Things to remember:

- Ubers and taxis can be hard to find, make sure you plan your rides ahead of time. Having your own rental vehicle is advised.

- If you're a light sleeper, bring some earplugs.

- Mosquitoes are abundant especially during the rainy season. Bring bug spray.

- Critters and crawlies tend to sneak in even through the tiniest of holes so do not be surprised if you see one. We do not have any dangerous critters or crawlies living in the rainforest.

-Power and water outages are normal in the area especially during bad weather. We only have back-up power (solar) at the main house. We are in the process of getting more solar panels to power the entire property.

- Our dog Tootsie is a Rottweiler-Labrador mix. She's the biggest sweetheart but she can be a little mouthy sometimes. She's great with kids though! We also have plenty of cats, chickens, ducks and a turkey.

- There is a designated parking area. Make sure you leave space for other guests to park. We're in the process of renovating our parking area to accommodate more cars in the future.

- Wifi is only available in common areas.

Liers. The photo does not match the hut where they put me, no running water inside, no bathroom but a latrin in open air. It rained and water enter the hut, that on top of that smelled like cats and hair. They should be banned for false advertising
Response from VrboOwner on 20 June 2021
We are deeply sorry that Luis was disappointed in his stay at our property. Luis originally booked the Banana Room. We had just signed up for a new over-all. combined booking system, and unfortunately, it was working imperfectly that day: there was an overbooking for that room. When he arrived, we discussed giving him an upgrade to a bigger accommodation -- the Yurt – and he happily agreed. Despite his assertion that the photo does not match the “hut” (as he puts it), the photo is, in fact, a recent one of the inside of the Yurt. The Yurt today looks exactly as it did on the day the picture was taken (with the addition of one small table). Luis is correct in stating that the Yurt has no running water, and that the toilet is outside. These features of the Yurt are clearly described in our description of it. Luis saw these featured when he toured the Yurt. When our guests book the Yurt, before their arrival, we ask that they read the description, as well as past reviews, so that they understand that the experience of being in the Yurt is more like glamping than a luxury stay. Most of our guests (as is obvious from the many positive reviews we have received from people staying there) love the rustic feel of it. And many proclaim that they have had the best night sleep of anywhere on earth. Many also say the experience of showering outside and using the outdoor toilet -- with the best view for detoxing possible – is one of the treasured memories of their stay. But, these experiences are not, of course, for everyone, which is why we ask that guests read the descriptions prior to arrival. Since Luis’ change of accommodations came about after his arrival, we gave him a tour of the Yurt to make sure that he felt comfortable with the change in the booking. It is our policy to accommodate cancellations on the day of check-in if guests are not satisfied with their accommodation. Rather than seeming upset, it was my impression that Luis seemed genuinely pleased, and even mentioned how they wished they could have booked for a longer stay so that they can enjoy the Yurt for more days. With regards to the water in the Yurt because of the rain, I did not see any water in the Yurt when I went there to clean it after they had left. Similarly re his complaint of the smell, I did not detect any trace of the smell of cats or hair. We do have some cats on the property. But they are not allowed in the Yurt, and it is a puzzlement to us that he smelled cat smell inside. Hair? I do not know what hair generally smells like – except when people put product in their hair. But neither of those smells were present to my senses when I prepared the Yurt for Luis, and showed it to him,; nor when I cleaned, and Luis did not mention these smells when I initially showed him the Yurt. We want our guests to have a fabulous experience at La Casa. We are a small, family-run farm. We are not a big business, but we pride ourselves on our services as well as the comfort of our accommodations. We encourage all prospective visitors to read descriptions of the rooms and the farm to make sure that the experience we give is the experience they want.
