False advertisement
I actually canceled another reservation to take this reservation going off the photos and descriptions of this home. This home claimed to have a boathouse which is great to protect your boat from weather. This home was more than the other because of this. 3 days before arrival and after taking my money with no way to cancel before 30days, the owner sends me an email stating I must sign his personal rental agreement he made up that has nothing to do with VRBO or was listed in the listing. At this point I had no choice as you could not receive a refund in this time allotment. He also informs me the boat house is locked and we can NOT use it and his personal boat is stored in there! I emailed back and questioned him on this false advertisement and he would not respond to me. When we arrived to the home we meet his wife. She was very friendly. She showed us around the property. I didn't want to be rude but it was not at all what I was expecting. The outside grounds are not well kept and the path and stones down to the water and boathouse/dock are very dangerous, and we are all in great shape. Very bad for any children as well! My son fell once and hit his head on a rock and my husband fell on his tailbone. There was no WiFi or cell service which was not listed either. Within 24hrs I notice they have a flying big ant infestation! I have many photos. They were coming in from the chimney where there was a hole in the wall by the base of the fireplace. They were living under rugs, carpets, inside furniture and in the 4 bunk beds in the living room. I spend my entire week vacuuming up huge ants! They also informed me I was to vacuum, clean bathrooms, & entire home the morning I leave. We vacation a lot and no home I have ever stayed in at this price point per night has ever required me to clean like this. Or take our own garbage to the town dump 20mins away and pay per bag! That's what a vacation is for! These people use NO cleaning service between renters. They also had glasses on tiny unstable shelves in the hallway to the kitchen. One cheap wine glass broke and one bag of garbage was accidentally left behind after I cleaned the property immaculately and the owner then told me he was going to keep some of my damage deposit I paid! That's a bad joke! In the end after more emails with no response of my concerns from him, he did refund the deposit on the very last day he could. I've never had an experience like this, ruined my vacation.

Secret Paradise
This property is an absolute gem. I do not believe that there is a better piece of property on Lake George. Our family spent endless hours swimming and fishing from the "swimming rock". Every night we enjoyed a sunset from the deck overlooking the lake and after dinner enjoyed a quiet campfire on the same rock we spent all day swimming from. My bit of advice if you plan on staying here, buy heavy duty inner tubes to float on. Thanks for sharing your place with us.
