Kay's cottage is a truly unique rustic lakeside summer cottage in Maine. Built in 1895 on a granite bluff overlooking a crystal clear lake 45 minutes from Acadia National Park. Quiet and remote for those who want to escape modern life for a time. There is no WIFI ,noTV, no washer/dryer, no dishwasher. There's no central heat but there is a fireplace in the living room. There are three bedrooms upstairs and porch rockers to sit and listen to the loons. Go back to a quieter more peaceful time in history. There are antique rockers, a Victorian fainting couch and photos of my ancestors lounging outside the cottage in the 1800's. There is a stove/oven, fridge, microwave and bathroom with hot shower. There's also a canoe available for your use. This cottage has a shared dock with the cottage next door.

I rented this for my daughter and her family and it was exactly as advertised. Scott was great in responding to all my questions in the months before and met us at the cottage, keeping in touch as to our arrival. Kay's cottage is a wonderful getaway.
This was such a fun and unique place to stay! Scott was an excellent host and when we came in later than expected even went to turn lights on for us and provided some fishing poles for us. This was a great jumping off place for our Maine adventures and provided a wonderful place to relax and play games together. We had everything we needed.
This comfortable cottage made our stay in Maine a truly wonderful time. Beautiful setting and views from the deck. This rustic cottage was well stocked for cooking meals and comfortable beds for sleeping. My son and I had a great time staying and enjoyed paddling around lake Phillips (canoes and kayaks were provided)in a canoe, and enjoyed fishing too!
Kay's Cottage is delightful, held in love over multiple generations. The hospitality was thoughtful and "transparent," that is, Scott communicated that it is rustic. Rocking chairs facing a granite ledge with lake behind is comfort for the soul. A wonderful fire place takes the chill out of the air. And hot water is plentiful. We would go again if we were headed to Acadia National Park.
Spending a week in this 1893 vintage "camp house" was truly special. The view right outside our door of the crystal clear lake and rocky, tree-lined shore was absolutely breathtaking! Add to that the fresh, fragrant scent of pine and fir trees that literally filled the air. It was an experience we will cherish forever. Think we'll need to repeat it next summer!
The owners of this property are the nicest couple. Communication was excellent and they met us at the property when we arrived. This was a very good thing because our trailer got stuck on the way in and we needed the their help getting unstuck. Everything we needed was provided and the cottage/camp was exactly as advertised. With no wifi or TV, it was the perfect getaway we were hoping for. Thank you for a great experience all around!
Just what we expected and were looking for! Beautiful site right on the lake. Bedroom window looked east over the lake to the rising sun. The sun set behind us, setting the hill across the lake ablaze! The loons serenaded us morning and night, while hummingbirds danced daily around the feeder on the porch! The nearness of the main road was a blessing (quick trip to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor), but a little noisier than I would like. The camp has been in the owner’s family since it was built after the Civil War. He was very interesting and helpful! Lovely, we would definitely go back!
Scott and his family host a beautiful late 1800's lakeside cabin situated on a pristine lake. We stayed for a week and had a great time exploring nearby Acadia, Bangor, Blue Hill area, and more! We'll definitely look to rent again the next time were in the area!
