Tallkabin "Pine Cabin" - Mid-Century Pine Cabin under 2hrs from Minneapolis.
Originally built in the 1960’s, with a 2010 chalet style addition/remodel, and a 2019 walkout lower-level project completed, Tallkabin (Swedish for Pine Cabin) is a spacious 2400 sqft. It’s a classic knotty pine meets modern nordic vibe.
Tallkabin is located on Warner Lake, just an hour & 45 minute drive from Mpls, about 10 minutes east of Siren, 20 minutes west of Spooner. Both towns have nice grocery shopping options, movie theaters, bars and restaurants, and there are x-country ski trails, biking trails and golf courses nearby.
Nestled on a double lot on Gatten Point, amidst diverse trees, including huge old Norway pines, with 230 feet of shoreline and a naturally sandy lakefront, Tallkabin is the perfect balance of natural setting, year-round accessibility and lake usability. Warner Lake is one of the deepest, cleanest lakes in Burnett County, offering natural beauty, great for swimming, boating and fishing. The cabin is equipped with a canoe, and we also have 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards available for rent ($150 per stay for all). Additionally Tallkabin offers a fire pit (please bring your own wood), lawn games, and fishing poles (you must have a permit). The boat launch is just to the north, and there is dock access from Memorial Day to Labor Day (or later). Please note there are steps down to the lake.
The kitchen is spacious and well stocked (we like cooking!), with a gas range and a dishwasher. The dining table easily accommodates 6 people and is great for scrap booking weekends. Hosting a group for the week? There is an extra fridge that can be turned on as needed in the utility room. There is plenty of space for hanging out, listening to records (we have quite a few) by the gas fireplace, playing games and puzzles, or just talking with friends. Main floor has a large vaulted living room, modern kitchen, large dining area, den, sunroom with a sleeper couch, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, and a fabulous screened porch overlooking the lake, with two attached deck areas and a gas grill available. Lower level is a walkout (although we prefer guests do not use those doors), with a family room (doubles as a 4th bedroom with 2 queen Murphy beds) and a smaller bedroom with a king bed. There is a full bathroom on each level and we provide a hairdryer.
Tallkabin can sleep 6 people. There are two bedrooms on the main level, each has a memory foam queen bed and a cot in each closet for a kid (but it will take up most of your floor space when out). There is also a pull out couch in the sun room on the main, with curtains that close for privacy (no doors). There is another bedroom downstairs with a full bed (please note this room is small but cozy with a bit lower ceiling). And two memory foam queen Murphy beds in the lower level family room, and another kiddo cot. We also have a folding crib and a toddler mattress that can go on the floor in one of the rooms. All queen and king beds and all pillows are encased for cleanliness.
Sleeping accommodations: Bedroom 1 (main level): Queen bed, cot and crib available. Bedroom 2 (main level): Queen bed, cot available. Bedroom 3 (lower level): King bed. Family room (lower level): Two queen Murphy beds, cot available. Sunroom (main level): Queen pull out couch. Toddler floor mattress also available.
Tallkabin is stocked with towels, bedding, paper towels, toilet paper, basic soaps and some kitchen basics (salt, pepper, etc.). You should bring any ingredients you need, coffee, toiletries, etc. If you are wondering if anything specific is available, please ask. We do have an exterior shower and beach towels available in the lower level exit hallway (through the laundry room). Please do not use navy bath towels down by the lake. We use mostly eco friendly cleaning supplies and products.
Please note, there is intentionally no TV on the main level- we feel it adds to the cabin experience. However, there is an older 37” TV on the lower level in the family room. No network TV/cable, but plenty of older DVDs and a Firestick available for Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ and casting from your phone (we have fiber internet available). Record player connects to Sonos speakers for sound through out the main level (you will need Sonos app).
Star gazing and nature watching is best enjoyed from the deck adjacent to the living room. There are vintage binoculars in the sunroom, please enjoy them with care and monitor children with their use.
Please note, we do not have central AC, but we do have 2 units that do keep it cool if turned on before it gets too hot. There are ceiling fans throughout the main level and two standing fans downstairs. We enjoy the sounds of nature throughout the summer, and fans, natural shade from the trees, and being on a peninsula help keep the cabin comfortable.
Your fully potty trained dog is welcome (max 2). We have strict pet rules. A dog must stay off the furniture and beds. A dog left alone in cabin for any amount of time must be kenneled (kennel provided in laundry room). Dog must be leashed and monitored at all times outside and cannot be a nuisance to neighbors by barking or otherwise. Dog must potty in the kennel in front and guests are responsible for leaving it picked up. Bags are available in the front entry dresser. On the off chance of a pet accident, there is nature’s miracle pet spray in the cleaning closet off the living room. The non-refundable pet fee is $ 100 for first dog, $50 for the second dog. This is not a security deposit.
Swimmers and non-swimmers alike, please use caution as the lake bottom drops off suddenly and close to shore. Please monitor children near or in the lake at all times. Some life jackets are available for your use. Please hang to dry fully in lower level shower entry closet.
Tallkabin is curated with vintage binoculars, beautiful books & magazines, classic records, puzzles and games, etc. Please treat our things kindly, use coasters (not books), put things back where you found them and generally respect the space. If something is accidentally broken or damaged, please let us know right away.
Please be advised: In wintertime we may not be fully shoveled to the door. Please watch your step. Locked pantry is private. Use caution around the lake, particularly with children. We do have monitored exterior cameras. Strict pet rules.

This cabin was exactly what we were hoping for in a weekend getaway. It had everything we needed, felt very comfortable, and was a great place to unwind. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, which made it easy to relax and enjoy our time there.Even with snowy weather, we had a great time staying in, playing board games, and just enjoying the space. It ended up being the perfect mix of relaxing and fun. The host was very communicative and helpful throughout the entire stay, which made everything smooth and stress-free.We would absolutely recommend this place to others and would love to come back in the future!
Welcoming, responsive and very kind. Everything you need and more! This place was huge, yet cozy. We loved the spacious, well-equipped kitchen as we make all our own food instead of eating out. It would be an amazing place to come back to in the summer to enjoy the lake, beautiful screened in porches and fire pit. We LOVED the album collection and great sitting spaces to chat and just listen to some good music in the background.
Tallkabin has been a wonderful stay for us for the past several years. The home is clean and there are plenty of comfortable beds. The kitchen, dining room and porch add lovely spaces for family gatherings. We always enjoy a campfire and shoreline of Warner Lake.
We had an absolute blast exploring the property. It is so private and very unique. 100% recommended for anyone wanting to spend time with family or friends. My kiddos and I bonded extra hard over music and board games. So much laughter and precious memories.
The perfect cabin for our family. Grandsons said it was "EPIC"!!! Anything we needed was at our fingertips with so many other thoughtful touches that were unexpected. Super clean & Brent communicated all our questions or requests immediately. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
I can honestly say this was one of our favorite vacation rentals we've done (and we've done a lot). Everything was perfect. This home and area is such a treasure. The home had everything we needed. Brent and family: you've done a fantastic job offering your place for others to enjoy. Thank you for such a wonderful family getaway. We will be back :).
This was my third time in this cabin, and it's always a wonderful experience. The cabin is clean and feels so cozy. The surrounding is beautiful. Excited to build more memories in this wonderful place.
This was our 2nd time staying here and it was perfect! We loved sitting in the screened porch playing games and relaxing. Beds are comfy and cabin is large enough so you don't feel like you are stepping on each other. Highly recommend!
We picked this house as a place for family from across the country to spend time together after months apart. It was perfect for cooking, fishing, and relaxing and I’d recommend for anyone wanting time to relax on a lake.
A relaxing week enjoying the quiet and beautiful joys of fall in WI. This cabin/home fit our needs perfectly. The fall fishing was successful, too! Warner Lake was very nice.
It was a nice place for some peace and quiet. There were a few places to explore in surrounding areas. A lot of stairs to the lake but when down there it was quiet, sandy and beautiful. I like the Scandinavian decor.
This is an ideal home and location. We enjoyed a summer family vacation on Warner Lake as well as family game time in the comfort of this beautiful home. There is a large, screened porch that is ideal as well. The home is clean, and offers a large kitchen, many bedrooms and comforts and is well cared for with great hosts.
Tallkabin is beautiful, spacious and very accommodating. Our multigenerational family of 11 agreed it was our best summer cabin stay in a dozen years. Communication with our host was smooth, and he was extremely responsive.
This house is very charming and roomy. We particularly liked the screened in porch so we could enjoy the lake view without the bugs. There's a nice beach area and a dock. There is also a canoe which was fun to use. The owner kept in good contact we us before, during and after our stay. I would highly recommend this rental.
This was our 3rd annual girls weekend at Tallkabin and as usual we had a wonderful time! The cabin is so cozy and comfortable, even for a group of 8. We all had comfortable sleeping and space to lounge and hang out. There are fun places to go in the towns of Webster and Siren. We can’t wait to come back next year!
Loved the multiple common spaces, charming screened porch, clean lake with a sandy bottom beach, large kitchen. Had everything we needed and more. Took the grown children for a get away plus our dog and we had a lovely relaxing time. Plenty of things to do inside and outside. House was clean and kitchen fully stocked with amenities. Opted for the kayaks and boards and it was very worth it. Perfect weather with chilly nights and warm sunny days. We’d definitely come again. Thanks Webb family for sharing your lake house with us!
