About this property
Create@Harcourt - craft, walk, ride. The delights of Castlemaine are so close.
Only 7 km from Castlemaine and 20 mins from Bendigo, Create@Harcourt sits in granite country at the base of Mt Alexander. This limestone house has been renovated as a place for groups to be together, to craft, walk, or cycle. The house is very spacious and there are multiple places for people to gather both inside and out. The back yard has stables and sheds and runs down to Barkers Creek. There is a dedicated craft room with a huge table and excellent lighting, also making this a perfect craft retreat. We are right next door to Harcourt produce and general store (for delicious food, coffee and more) and Blumes Historic Bakery is just down the road. Only 2km to the mountain bike park. There are adventure parks with BBQ facilities opposite the house. We sit in apple and grape growing country with several excellent wineries close by. The delights of Castlemaine, with great food, culture and shopping for vintage goods, are only 5 minutes away. In hot weather, take a dip at the beautiful Endeavour Pass Reservoir just 10 minutes away. Maldon and Bendigo are just a 20 min car trip away and Daylesford just 45mins. Please note that Friday and Saturday must be booked together and Sunday night can only be booked with a weekend. If for instance you wish to stay Saturday and Sunday and omit the Friday then the price for Friday and Saturday will apply. In order to use our resources and time well, we will only make up enough beds for guests coming.

Our group of 7 friends had a wonderful weekend in Harcourt. Kerrie was a responsive and welcoming host and the house was light filled and comfortable. A great base for exploring the local area
we enjoyed the stay. Close enough to castlemain and Bendigo with some interesting things in between. Had a good laugh over the le coq door over the road and had a great caraoke session there on saturday night.
The house was perfect for our group of 7 (adults and children) with plenty of space for all, and every amenity we might require. Having the Harcourt Produce and General Store right next door provided a fuss-free and delicious start to the day, and host Kerrie provided lots of great suggestions for other places to visit and helpful advice. To top it off we couldn't have asked for better weather, so all in all we had a very enjoyable and memorable weekend away.

A really lovely place and full of beautiful things
This was a really lovely place and full of beautiful things. The kitchen was exceptionally appointed - you could cook anything here. Overall very cosy, fabulous spaces, superb sheets, and the unique handmade quilts were just so charming. We had a wonderful stay here.
Sadly, the host initially blamed us for some damage that we weren’t responsible for. That was a shame.
The house was perfect for our group. It made our trip so easy and comfortable. It was homely and well equipped allowing us to be entertained at home as well as having a safe place to come back t at teh end of our long days. THANK YOU

About the host
Hosted by Kerrie Lay
This retreat is about connecting. The house is spacious enough to take all of your friends or family. There are lots of areas, both inside and out ,where you can gather. Perfect for a group of friends, several families or multiple generations from one family. The house has a dedicated craft room because I believe in the amazing power of people coming together to create. I participated in creative weekends whilst I was still working as a veterinarian and decided once I retired to create a space to allow more people to come together to connect, create and recharge. My husband and I renovated this property ourselves in our own quirky, crafty style. Mainly we have crafting groups stay but this house is all about connection so it's great for families and friendship groups as well. Come and feel the magic.
Why they chose this property
We love this area. Harcourt has the small town vibe and the birds inn our yard are magnificent. Castlemaine is amazing and only 7 minutes away. If you after amazing food, cultural events, vintage vibes and a bit of funk, this is the place to be. Maldon, Bendigo and much more only 20 mins away.
What makes this property unique
We have set this retreat up primarily as a craft retreat. A place full of gorgeous crafty things where people can come and create and connect with the best facilities. It's also a fabulous place for family or friends get togethers because the living spaces are large and comfortable and there are 5 bedrooms. We have expansive back yard with stables and a paddock that runs down to the creek . We are right next door to the fabulous Harcourt Produce and General Store for all your coffee, cake, delicious food and beverage needs. Such a bonus.
