About this property
Banks Country Farm Cottage
Cozy and remote but with easy access to all the great things our area has to offer. Tucked in a wooded setting, our open and airy cottage is on the county's Historical Registry as a prime example of a 1937 country home.
The kitchen is set up for cooking and stocked with coffee and teas. The main bathroom is off one of the bedrooms, the half-bath is off the office.
Because we're off the beaten path, WiFi is available but can be spotty. There's a TV with a shelf full of DVDs and lots of board games.
The landscaping is beautiful in every season and there is an orchard below the house where deer can often be seen munching. The valley is quiet with the occasional howling pack of coyotes or hooting owl. There is even a large herd of elk that can sometimes be spotted across the valley and is known to wander into our orchard at night—at last count there are 40 of them! There are some trails on the property which are fun to explore or longer hikes on logging trails just up the road. There's a pond about 1/4 mile north and a good place to spot heron, kingfishers and even beavers.
There is a washer and a dryer available to you as well as a barbecue (summer months only).
Though tucked away on a small country road, our location is only 2 miles from Highway 26 and is an ideal jumping off point for the incomparable Oregon coast (an hour away), a day in Portland (about 30 minutes away), a tour of the Willamette Wine Country (about 20–25 minutes) and countless hiking/biking trails. There is a bike shop in the town of Banks (5 minutes) which rents bicycles and helmets should you want to tour our neighborhood, or the 21-mile, tree-lined Banks-Vernonia trail.
We're also less than 15 minutes to Intel's Jones Farm campus or to the Brookwood Parkway High Tech corridor, 25 minutes to the Nike Beaverton campus, 15 minutes to Pacific University in Forest Grove and 45 minutes to Portland International Airport.
We're happy to recommend the closest and best restaurants, cafes and pubs we've found, and can steer you to amazing fare in Portland.
If you're driving there's plenty of parking in the driveway.
The nearest public transportation is in Hillsboro—a 20 minute drive to the MAX line—which would get you into and around Portland. There are car rental agencies in Hillsboro as well.

About the host
Hosted by Owner/Property Manager

Scott and I have lived on our farm for over 30 years. It was originally owned by Scott's great-aunt Violet and great-uncle Pete, who built the homes and buildings. We're headed toward "Century Farm" status, having kept it in the family for almost 100 years!
What makes this property unique
Quiet, that's what you'll experience at this country cottage. Our favorite time is about 5:00 pm, glass of wine, or cold beer, in hand. Then we take a seat on the back deck, listen for the various wildlife sounds and wait for the sun to drop below the hill across the valley. The view is serene.
Then, 7:00 am, mug of coffee in hand, repeat the above, though the sun will be at your left shoulder. Beautiful!
