Cozy and remote but with easy access to all the great things our area has to offer. Tucked in a wooded setting, our open and airy cottage is on the county's Historical Registry as a prime example of a 1937 country home.
The kitchen is set up for cooking and stocked with coffee and teas. The main bathroom is off one of the bedrooms, the half-bath is off the office.
Because we're off the beaten path, WiFi is available but can be spotty. There's a TV with a shelf full of DVDs and lots of board games.
The landscaping is beautiful in every season and there is an orchard below the house where deer can often be seen munching. The valley is quiet with the occasional howling pack of coyotes or hooting owl. There is even a large herd of elk that can sometimes be spotted across the valley and is known to wander into our orchard at night—at last count there are 40 of them! There are some trails on the property which are fun to explore or longer hikes on logging trails just up the road. There's a pond about 1/4 mile north and a good place to spot heron, kingfishers and even beavers.
There is a washer and a dryer available to you as well as a barbecue (summer months only).
Though tucked away on a small country road, our location is only 2 miles from Highway 26 and is an ideal jumping off point for the incomparable Oregon coast (an hour away), a day in Portland (about 30 minutes away), a tour of the Willamette Wine Country (about 20–25 minutes) and countless hiking/biking trails. There is a bike shop in the town of Banks (5 minutes) which rents bicycles and helmets should you want to tour our neighborhood, or the 21-mile, tree-lined Banks-Vernonia trail.
We're also less than 15 minutes to Intel's Jones Farm campus or to the Brookwood Parkway High Tech corridor, 25 minutes to the Nike Beaverton campus, 15 minutes to Pacific University in Forest Grove and 45 minutes to Portland International Airport. We're happy to recommend the closest and best restaurants, cafes and pubs we've found, and can steer you to amazing fare in Portland.
If you're driving there's plenty of parking in the driveway. The nearest public transportation is in Hillsboro—a 20 minute drive to the MAX line—which would get you into and around Portland. There are car rental agencies in Hillsboro as well.

Wonderful property to relax and well appointed. In a convenient space between Portland and the coast and great home base for exploring the area or just sitting on the back porch to take in the view. We had a wonderful time!
We stayed during Thanksgiving week and it was a wonderful, cozy reprieve. The cottage is very comfortable with everything you need for an incredible vacation.
Wonderful cottage in the countryside but within easy distance of a great bike trail. Quiet, wildlife, the house had all amenities you’d need. Allison was a great host.
This is our second visit to this property. We love the location and how tranquil the visit is. The property has everything you need for a perfect holiday.
Great little house, daily deer in the back yard eating apples off of the trees. Host was very friendly and helpful with local information. I hope to stay here again the next time I come to the are.

Thanks for being such great guests!
AMAZING! One of the sweetest homes we have had the pleasure to stay. The perfect place to unplug and be with nature. Daily visits from deer and all kinds of wildlife. An hours drive to the coast and close to the city. The small town has a very good grocery store to stock up. Allison, the host, is wonderful!

It was really lovely to meet and host you, Lanette—you and co. are welcome back anytime! I'm so glad the wildlife cooperated, and you even heard the coyotes (my favorite).
Great place to stay in the country but a 20 minute drive from many restaurants, shopping, Pacific U, etc. An hour to the coast, 30 minutes from Portland proper. Very quiet and comfortable. Beautifully but simply decorated. Had fun drinking coffee on the porch in the morning, watching deer eating the apples that had fallen off the trees just 15 feet away. Well set up to cook meals also.
We loved this home and location from the moment we arrived. The house was immaculate and well appointed with all the amenities to make our stay very comfortable. Looking out all the windows at the beautiful landscape and wildlife was a highlight of our stay. Elk, deer, rabbits and the little chipmunks were amazing toview so close up. All in all our stay was perfect and we would not hesitate to book here again.Lastly, our host, Allison, was wonderful and always available, if needed. Thank you

You definitely got the wildlife show! We were glad to have you, Marlo, and hope you and co. come back soon.
We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting our daughter and also playing golf at Pumpkin Ridge. This cottage is quiet, comfortable, well appointed and immaculate! Perfect for 2 people and could also work for 2 couples. Allison , our host was friendly, helpful and attentive. If you are ever in need of a place in the far western suburbs of Portland or playing golf at Pumpkin Ridge, this is the place for you!

Incredible Oregon country life experience!
The pictures don't do the cottage and property justice. It was so relaxing to sit on the back porch and watch the sun go down or wander out into the yard to pick apples or blueberries.
Allison has thought of everything to make you feel like you're at home: right down to the bowl of fresh picked strawberries waiting for us the day we arrived.
We would love to visit again!

Clean, Cozy and Beautiful
My husband and I spent 4 nights at this beautiful cottage when we traveled to Oregon for a family wedding. The hosts were amazing. The house was clean and well-appointed. There was nothing missing--they'd obviously given a lot of thought to making our stay easy and comfortable. We loved the quiet yard and enjoyed a visit from a deer one evening. The rooms are actually quite large and spacious, beds are comfy and everything was just perfect. We hope to visit again someday.

Great memories!
We were there as a family of five for my son's soccer tournament at Liberty HS. It was our first time in the Portland area. Allison was very helpful with recommendations of things to do in the area. The home was very comfortable and clean and peaceful to come back to after a long day. We enjoyed picking apples and blackberries in the backyard. As an added bonus this was an amazing Pokémon Go spawning area!! :-) Great memories. We would certainly stay here again!

Allison, it was a pleasure to host you and your family and we hope another soccer tournament brings you our way. Now, if we can just figure out how those pesky Pokémon Go critters got into our cottage!!

Quiet & Peaceful
Every detail thought through by the hosts of this rental.... truly a home away from home. Super Clean & very well organized! Things provided in this home that are many times overlooked in others = hand soap, dish soap, coffee filters, fresh flowers, shower wash, shampoo, etc. Comfortable beds, quality towels and linens, high quality dishes & glassware & nicely furnished. Enjoyed the evenings on the back porch with a glass of wine, just listening to the quiet sounds of nature... and enjoying the beautiful gardens. Thank you!

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at this lovely country cottage!
My son and I stayed here for three nights while we were here for the Oregon summer marathon and half marathon that ended in Banks. We truly enjoyed our stay and were able to relax in our downtime, as well as enjoy many activities around. Allison's suggestion for dinner at McMenniman's was wonderful. We also enjoyed our drives over to Cape Mears through the Tillamook national Forest, up to Cannon Beach and back. We also went back to Cannon Beach so my son could run there the day after the marathon, and up to Astoria. Another day we drove through Portland and over to see Multnoma Falls and did the hike to Punch Bowl Falls. It was so nice to relax on the deck and watch the deer come right up to the driveway. I only wish that I had had more time to take advantage of your kitchen. I'm sure will be back again sometime!

We would be glad to see you back, Tina—there's always next year's marathon!
We had a lovely week at Allison’s quiet cottage. The living area was cozy, the bed very comfortable, the kitchen well stocked (even with breakfast items) and internet and cell service quite good. Allison was immediately responsive to any issue we faced (we locked ourselves out one day) and an excellent host. We highly recommend this property.
What a special place. Thoughtful, responsive hosts. Spotlessly clean. Very nicely provided for. We had a fantastic respite from city life at Allison and Scott's charming house. The deer and elk visited us too. Can't wait to go back.
This was the perfect getaway! Feels like your far put in the country but still close to everything.
Allison was a wonderful host! Would definitely book again.

About the host
Hosted by Owner/Property Manager
Scott and I have lived on our farm for over 30 years. It was originally owned by Scott's great-aunt Violet and great-uncle Pete, who built the homes and buildings. We're headed toward "Century Farm" status, having kept it in the family for almost 100 years!
What makes this property unique
Quiet, that's what you'll experience at this country cottage. Our favorite time is about 5:00 pm, glass of wine, or cold beer, in hand. Then we take a seat on the back deck, listen for the various wildlife sounds and wait for the sun to drop below the hill across the valley. The view is serene. Then, 7:00 am, mug of coffee in hand, repeat the above, though the sun will be at your left shoulder. Beautiful!
