Was in the upper peninsula for a legal matter regarding property I own. Was so happy to find a lakefront cabin to stay in. The sunrises over the lake were breathtaking. Definitely will be back!
It was a very special cottage right on the lake. We could cook out or go into town to a great restaurant and bar. I swam right from the cottage. Lots to do in the area. Loved it!
It's not primitive, its not the Ritz. It's just right for what you need to get away from it all. It allows you to define your own adventure. Great communication. The little town has the basics of what you need to make your stay memorable. I would stay here again.
Rustic in decor. The Cabin has a bright living room/bedroom area with a day bed and futon. There is no place to put your belongings. You have to be an early riser as the sun comes in and the curtains don't cover the window. There is no coverage on the full glass door either :(. The small bedroom has a comfortable bed. Again, with no place to put your clothing. The dining room/futon bed has a nice table and chairs. Crampted quarters. No more than 4 people at best. We had trouble finding the light switch for the dining room. It's a remote on a post next to the stove! I loved the refrigerator and the gas stove. My only issue was the plates and glasses were in the base cabinet facing the dining room. I'm old and they were difficult to get to. But the kitchen was well stocked. Now the bathroom. Large area with stackable washer/dryer. The shower - not so good. Small and it was difficult to regulate water temperature and shave my legs! My best part of the cabin was the firepit. With the Lake right there and an evening fire, WOW, the best! And Becky provides the wood. Parking is an issue if you're taking a trailer. Overall, wifi works, smart tv works, there are no mice, and no musty smell. The Cabin is pet friendly and at a great location for checking out the sites. I hope this helps.
This is an up north cabin with the amenities you need. CLOSE to lake. I wouldn't try to sleep 8 unless your used to tight sleeping quarters. But my husband and I LOVED this stay. Thank you to Sandra and Jeff for their attentive services!
Overall happy with our stay. We were able to prepare our meals and enjoy Paradise with our pets. Would encourage people to clean up after themselves in the yard area to avoid injuries to others. There were numerous bottle caps and sharp objects in the yard. We used the fire pit once, just wasn’t well maintained and the chairs were in rough shape. Interior was fine just a lot of dirty toss pillows and excess clutter that made the place feel smaller. The Shack sits very close to the Bay with rocks and a drop to the water so must be careful when walking out the back door and the front is right off a busy highway.
Lake is right out back door if you looked out back window felt like your on house boat, my family enjoyed this little cabin so much best place get away and be with nature.
While the weather didn't behave the whole week ( it was rainy and misty), the cabin was warm and cozy. The rain found a way to cause a leak but the property manager was quick to respond and help.
It was a perfect size for 3 adults and 1 child. Had there been more adults, it would have felt cramped.
The view was exactly as described and the outdoor sitting area was perfect, even with the foggy lake.
We would definitely visit again - hopefully the weather will cooperate better next time.
The online pics were slightly misrepresentative of the actual space and cleanliness of the property. Lots of mouse droppings and dead mouse smell. Even if you could sleep 8 (tightly), where would they all stand/sit? On the upside, great location, lots of firewood, working appliances and a nice area outside by the water.
Good morning Paradise! The Shack has everything a person neess who needs to get away for some R&R. Energizing sunrises, relaxing adirondack chairs, lulling lake waves, cozy campfires, and calming sunsets. This was perfect for a solo female traveler and her dog, a insanely water-loving, crazy ball-chasing yellow lab.
Loved it! Right on Lake Superior. A very cute rustic cabin. Perfect for us 2 and our 2 fur babies. I would stay again. Only 1 issue, when you use the shower, you get a smell of what smells like sewer gasses. Husband thought it's not draining right.
The property is situated such that you have a gorgeous view of the lake from everywhere in the house! Cabin is very clean. Property owner was very quickly responsive when I had a Wifi question. Great experience overall. Must go to Oswald’s bear rescue a short drive from the cabin.
A very cute little cabin literally right on the shore of Whitefish Bay, very quaint with everything we needed for a week long stay. We used this as our home base and saw many sights in the area and enjoyed some fall colors. Enjoyed the firepit in the evenings sipping a favorite beverage and toasting marshmallows overlooking the water with freighters in the far distance. Oh, did I mention the stars!!!!!!! Not many places to eat open in the area, not sure if it is seasonal or lack of finding workers or both. A very small with limited stock grocery store, but we made do just fine. Found everything we needed in the kitchen to do some cooking with the groceries we brought. The log cabin is authentic and on the older side with a fairly recent facelift. That being said it does have musty smell but we just cracked a couple windows and you adjust to it. Yes, it did come with a pet mouse, but he never bothered us and only saw him scurry across the bathroom floor twice, that was the only evidence of him we saw. The cabin would only sleep 6 and that is if y'all were very friendly, but there was just 2 of us so it was just fine. The main bed is a foam mattress which was not comfortable for my older back but made due with the other bed available. The cabin is quite crowded and full of many items so not a lot of room to store your stuff, and no place to hang clothing but overall a nice place for some downtime and enjoying the beauty of the area.
The shack is absolutely beautiful and stocked with everything you could ever need! The view of superior is amazing. We loved sitting out by the fire pit. By far the best place we’ve ever stayed!!!
This place is as advertised. Beautiful location steps from the water. Easy to relax and listen to the wave with plenty nearby to explore. Quintessential Upper Peninsula. Check out Wildworks a few driveways down.
This is our second time staying here. "The Shack" is a cute, rustic log cabin with age & character. It may not be for everyone though. Considering its' age, you may have to deal with an occasional mouse, spider or cabin funk that comes with age, but for us & adventurous types, it's the perfect escape just feet from the water decorated so cutely and close to Whitefish Point, Tahquamenon Falls & everything outdoors. We would stay all the time if we could!
The Shack was an easy place to find. The outside setup is perfect. Inside The Shack for us was comfort. Everything you need, and a warm feeling of home. The mornings were heaven. Drinking coffee and enjoying the gorgeous view. I would definitely stay again.
