About this property
Cute-n-Cozy Close to Sedona
Super cute 3 bedrooms & 2 baths in quiet family area with brand new expanded patio with private Hot Tub, shady hammock, and all the comforts of home! Owned by local area photographer who’s beautiful images of Sedona and the Southwest Canyonlands graces the walls.
Cottonwood, Arizona might just be one of the sweetest areas of northern Arizona, just 90 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport yet a world apart from the hustle and bustle of "the Valley". Sitting at an elevation of 3200 ft, Cottonwood enjoys cooler temperatures all year round than that lower "Valley of the Sun", while experiencing only occasional to no snow at all, in winter.
If you have only a few days in the area and are on a budget, its just a 15 minutes drive from here to Sedona.
If you're just in the area for a week or so and want a grand tour of what the area has to offer, this is a great home base to explore the greater northern Arizona area in and around the Verde Valley and beyond.
If you are looking to escape the frigid winters of 'home' but not really in to heavy traffic and big cities, this place might just be the perfect winter get-away for you (if you plan far in advance!)
There are many destinations within an easy 30 minutes drive of here including Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, Oak Creek Canyon, Jerome, and the wineries at Page Springs. An hour tops gets you to Prescott, and a little farther gets you to Flagstaff.
The home itself is in a quiet older family neighborhood with very little highway traffic noise outside of the local neighborhood. There are lots of big trees and birds. The home was completely renovated inside and out in 2011.
There are three bedrooms and 4 beds - the king bedroom has its own in-suite bathroom, while the queen bedroom and the 2 twin bedroom share a full bath.
All the mattresses are very new, and have been encased in zipper protected covers since purchased. Each pillow is also protected with zippered covers. All 4 beds have a 2.5-3 inch gel infused memory foam topper for a truly heavenly night's sleep. The king and queen beds have quality 600 ct cotton sheets with duvets, while the twin beds are designed in a more "young at heart" theme in mind. The kid in you will enjoy the two giant memory foam 'bean bag' chairs, a fun place for the kids to bounce around, and a very comfortable place to sit and catch up on your favorite book. The hammock in the backyard, under the "mom-mulberry" tree, is a great place to read also.
We are confident you will enjoy your stay in our super comfortable, well stocked home ~ a great place to hang out in the evenings after exploring the many points of interest that are within an easy days drive.
Many area attractions are within 15 mile radius. Within a 20 minute range or so, including historic Jerome ghost town and artist colony, the Out of Africa Wildlife Park, Tuzigoot National Monument, the golf course at Verde Santa Fe, the Page Springs wine country and tasting rooms, and of course, the magical red rock country of Sedona is just 15 minutes up the road.
At Dead Horse Ranch State Park, just 3 miles from the house, is our favorite places to bike and hike in Cottonwood. You can explore the greenbelt of the Verde River under the canopy of the town's namesake towering Cottonwood Trees that are native to the area. Above the river are the three lagoons and lots of benches and picnic tables from which to sit and enjoy the views of Mingus Mountain and the twinkling lights of Jerome. If you're a fisherman, the lagoons are well stocked with fish (though I know not what kind). Experience the magic of how shade trees drop the temperature of an area in a matter of just a few seconds, by several welcome degrees. You can park at the uptown gateway to the park (next to the old jail house) and walk or Mountain Bike the Jail Trail, under the trees, and up to the main park and the lagoons. Don't forget to check out the Tavasci Marshes in the upper Verde River and to be on the lookout for wildlife while at the park!
We used to live in Sedona, and wondered what it would be like to move to Cottonwood after living amongst the magical red rocks and both enjoy life here in Cottonwood for very important reasons ~ the conveniences of living!
Cottonwood is such a great hub. Its convenient to everywhere. Its Bike friendly, Kid friendly, Safe feeling, and has a great little funky trendy Main Street that truly has that feeling of a real 'home town' ~ something that touristy Sedona has always seemed to lack.
Seriously Cottonwood is so close to Sedona anyway, if the urge arises for a hike in the rocks, we are there in a matter of minutes, anytime we please. Feel like golfing? The Verde Santa Fe Golf course is less than 15 minutes.
Old-town Cottonwood, as well as the greater Cottonwood area, has lots of "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant choices, little shops, art galleries, and several local vineyard Wine Tasting Rooms, too.
You can experience the unique adventure of a train ride up the Verde River Gorge from historic Clarkdale, after exploring the 2 and 3 story Pueblo ruins at Tuzigoot National Monument.
Speaking of Art Galleries, the famous 'ghost town' of Jerome, Arizona is quite literally, 20 minutes UP the hill from here ~ in the foothills of Mingus Mountain, or should I say ON the edge, of the foothills. Continuing on from there, you can head over the Mingus Mountain Pass above Jerome, and enter the Prescott Valley, to experience the truly magical rock formations of "the Dells" at Watson Lake before heading in to historic old town Prescott, Arizona's first capital city, back when Arizona was truly the 'wild wild west'.
That's the beauty of Cottonwood. Access to the best of the best that northern Arizona has to offer ~ for less!

Hi, this is Lisa ... I am from Saginaw, Michigan originally and moved to Arizona in 1976.
Ian and I met in Sedona, so it's a very special place to us! Ian was born in England, but grew up in Southern California, where he first learned to view the world through the eyes of a camera. He later moved to Lake Tahoe where he lived for about 10 years working as an electrician for the ski resorts, and also as a home builder. Ian has designed and built 3 homes here in Sedona. The home we are offering to you, he completely renovated. Now we are pleased to be able to offer it to you. :-)
Ian has displayed his fine art large format photography in galleries in Sedona and Carmel, Ca. Some of this artwork hangs on the walls of this home. Ian has also offered Landscape photography instruction tours in Sedona and areas of the south-west.
Today, we own and operate an Architectural Photography business in Sedona and the surrounding areas. The images on this site are examples of our work.
