If your looking for a Cozy rustic cabin feel this is the place to be. Its quiet and peaceful and the lake is one of the best in NH. We had a great vacation.
Pine pitch gets on your car.It doesnt clean off easily. Cover your car. I was glad to have all wheel drive to get up the driveway. It's pretty steep. The setting was lovely. The weather was still chilly so nights were cold. Definitely needed to get the fireplace going each night. Bring your blankets if the weather is chilly. Bring bug spray. A TV would have been nice. It was a lovely setting but could have been better for the cost. I left 2 nights early.
The cabin is rustic, but that’s what I loved about it. The view is beautiful and the screened in porch is perfect. However, there’s almost no Wi-Fi and poor cell service so don’t come thinking you’re going to get any work done. All we could really do was text. We also had a smoke alarm going off the first day and night and couldn’t reach the property owner to get it fixed until the following day. But overall it was a wonderful stay.
Fernledge was a phenomenal lakeside cottage! From the moment you turn off the main road it feels special; like you are entering a secret. The pictures don't really do the place justice. Yes, it is a cottage so don't go expecting some sort of modern mega-mansion. Instead it fits into the landscape and allows you to feel part of that setting without the discomforts of camping. The addition of a screened in porch was a wonderful idea. It brings the lake views and breezes into the house while keeping bugs and rain at bay. Not that we had many bugs or much rain!Practically, the main bedroom is a good size while the 2 others are very small, but no one in our group spent much time there anyway. The kitchen is also tiny, but well equipped. Wi-fi was sufficient. There is a small TV, but no one used it. As another reviewer mentioned the driveway is steep, but my little GTI made it. There is also parking at the top in case you don't feel like doing the driveway every time. As for sap complaints....well yeah, you are surrounded by pine trees in the woods. That's like complaining there were chipmunks ;). Swimming was divine. As was kayaking. Do take a paddle out to the little islands, or just around the coves to see loons. The Squam Lake Association loon tour is worth doing especially if some in your party don't kayak; it's a good way to get them out on the water to see more of the lake. Center Harbor is an easy 10 minute drive away if you absolutely have to leave the cottage.
Fabulous location! Really enjoyed the new, spacious screened-in porch overlooking the lake! Loved hearing the loons and doing some stargazing (on clear nights). WiFi worked great for us.
We stayed at Win’s cabin for our annual fishing trip. The cabin is the perfect accommodation for our trip. Win added a screen in porch this year that is great for relaxing afore a long day of fishing.
Very relaxing again. Great to unplug w no internet and TV and experience great family time without distractions. We love this cottage and the new screen room is fantastic. Thanks for a great long weekend w many memories.

Lovely rustic cottage on an awesome site, great privacy and waterfront
Fantastic place to stay if you value natural beauty, waterfront, privacy, and rustic charm. I don't mind mice and chipmunks, inside a cottage, but some people do. I think it would be great if the owners made 2 improvements: (1) provide a pair of good kayaks for guests, and (2) rodent-proofing the cottage.

Beautiful location. The cottage is rustic. Never planned to share the cottage with mice and bats..
Beautiful location for the cottage. We enjoyed walking right down to the lake each day . I can see how your family would enjoy their vacations on the lake.
We were disappointed in how rustic the cottage truly was. Never planned to have had to share the cottage with mice on the counter tops daily. Squirrels coming into the bathroom and bats. The grill was to Dangerous to use. Thanks to family members living in the area we were able to borrow sheets, towels, and a safe grill.
We never saw any agreement to rent the cottage only made paids to the rental company. We and your plumber were surprise he was the main contact for your property. Next time I will do a better job reviewing and contacting the owner of the property earlier. We will continue to look for other rentals on Squam Lake for the future.

Response from VrboOwner on 1 July 2020
This person did not read the details about the house in advance which clearly state that it is rustic and that linens are are not supplied. When she arrived and realized this she was angry and expected me to find her linens. All of our other renters this summer have been thrilled with the place.

An amazing cabin on an amazing lake
We booked this cabin for our annual fishing trip. This was our first trip to Squam . The cabin fit our needs perfectly, as it had a boat dock, and could accommodate 4 or more adults comfortably. The cabin itself was very clean. The beds are comfortable, and having a full kitchen was awesome. The cabin has a lot of rustic charm to it. I would highly recommend Win’s cabin to anybody that was looking for a place on Squam Lake. We look forward to coming back next year.
P.S
The fishing was great. We lost count of the smallmouth bass we caught.

Great rustic cabin
Views and location are spectacular. Cabin is well stocked with everything you need. Cabin is older and very rustic so if a little camping style is OK then this place is for you.
