About this property

Magical Mountain Christmas!

Hello and welcome to our home!

You will be staying in the walkout level of our house. It has nine foot ceilings. Although this is also our home, there is NO shared space. The 1500 sq ft rental is completely private for you.

We have the very best views of Lake Dillon and the entire Ten Mile Range. We are located in the best spot of Summit County - Dillon. We are central to all of the ski resorts in Summit County yet can offer quiet luxury. Keystone is 8 miles from our home and Copper is 13 miles away. Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, and Vail are also in very close driving range. In addition, Lake Dillon can be seen from our property (but not walkable). Everything you need including super markets, restaurants, the outlet mall and highway access, are all in very close to proximity to the home. Our amenities and décor is fantastic and modern. We have granite counter tops throughout, copper fixtures, a giant copper bathtub and a fantastic indoor steam sauna/shower. All beds are very comfortable with high quality linens and plenty of pillows to choose from. You have your own front loading washer and dryer. There are 2 televisions with a DirecTV and a DVD player. We also have a cozy gas fireplace that you can warm up to when the nights get cool. We have plenty of patio furniture on your own deck so you can enjoy the view of the mountains from your private patio. We have a private hot tub right outside your door.
This is the perfect location if you'd like a bit of seclusion, beautiful views of the mountains and the lake but yet proximity to get to the places you'll want to enjoy. This is a great area for skiers and non-skiers alike. There is so much to see and do and you will have a great launching pad from our home in Dillon.

The winter options are endless and we continue to find new things every season. You won't be disappointed. We are happy to provide recommendations and tips. We ourselves are avid travelers and believe in providing high quality at a reasonable price. Everything is provided for here. You don't have to worry about bringing your own towels or supplies. If you need it, we have it and will provide it. We want to ensure that our guests return. We are thrilled to have so many returning guests who book with us again the minute they check out. Cheers!

**Please note that in winter months, an all wheel (4WD) vehicle is required for our private road and to adhere to the traction laws on our interstates.

Incredible property with beautiful views

Hosts were very accommodating and had some great recommendations for Restaurants and other activities. The property was beautiful and clean. I would definitely recommend this home and would stay again myself.

Most beautiful view

Private location but close to the lake, hiking trails and restaurants. Very comfortable accomodations. Host Amy is very professional, friendly and responsive. Great hot-tub, and the most beautiful view i've ever seen in Colorado (I'm a CSU grad). Hope to return next year.

The view was amazing! We loved the place, only thing that bothered us was the fact we tho we were getting a home to ourselves only to find out it is a unit under their home! Besides that everything was perfect.

Fantastic Ski Birthday

Spent the weekend absolutely spoiled at this stay! The hosts were wonderful and checked in via text periodically to make sure everything was going well. Honestly the listing pictures DO NOT do this place justice. We had 6 adults stay here comfortably, the hot tub was great at the end of a ski day, and the view was phenomenal. Only think folks should know when renting: kitchen is more of a deluxe kitchenette, and if you go in winter try to rent a 4x4 or a heavier car as the road to the top is snowy, but WELL maintained!

Amazing View

The Ptarmigan Ranch cabin has the best views in Dillon! It was a great space for our family of 5. Great setup both inside and outside of the cabin to relax, hangout and enjoy the views. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and laundry room. The place was very clean and the beds are very comfortable. Justin & Amy are fantastic hosts and always willing to help out with recommendations and keep us on the lookout for bears! I will definitely stay again when we make it back to Dillon.

We didn’t want to leave!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was such a beautiful view and sooo relaxing! We spent a lot of time there bc we enjoyed it so much. If you stay here you HAVE to try the copper tub, steam shower and hot tub! We felt fancy! Lol we spoke to Amy and she is the sweetest! She is there to welcome you when you arrive and shows you all the ropes! You don’t hear from them unless you need help with something. Also, they have a 6yr old son who is adorable! We only saw him once as he was “hiding” from us hahaha They have 3 black cats that want loving from time to time. I loved that bc we have two cats of our own and we were missing them. 10 star rating if possible! Great hospitality, thank you again!

Comfort and Class.

Our family of four + a friend LOVED staying here. This rental is on the top of a mountain, it is beautiful and the sunrise view of Ten-mile Range was breathtaking. It was our annual family vacay to ski at Copper. The room with the King beds was perfect for my 17 and 19 year old and our king size bedroom was lovely as well. The steam shower is a must! Every corner of this rental is beautifully appointed and updated. The dining area is a long bar with 4 stools. The kitchen is narrow but open; complete with dishwasher, sink, refrigerator, two convection cooktops, toaster, microwave, crock pot, pots and pans, blender and vitamix. In a separate area is a countertop convection oven and a pizza oven. If you are creative and plan ahead, meals are very convenient. We made full breakfast every morning and ate dinner 2 of the 4 nights here. The view from the hot tub is awesome and the rental is very close to shopping, Breck, Keystone and Copper, and many restaurants. There are plenty of linens and towels, (even towels for the hot tub) and games and puzzles as well. Our teenagers and furry babies were welcome (our pets are crate trained). You will hear the pitter patter of little feet from the little guy upstairs, but this hideaway is as quiet if not quieter than any resort or condo we have stayed in. We had a TON of snow, so if you are coming in winter a four or all wheel drive is recommended. We literally got snowed in, but the owner was amazing and cleared the driveway so we could go out to dinner. In addition, Amy (owner) did us a huge favor when we were snowed in pertaining to time sensitive loan documents. My only problem is I don't want to give this haven such a stellar review, because I want to be able to stay there again!!! Thanks for everything!

Amazing view in a beautiful apartment

This well appointed and maintained apartment is the lower level of a 3 story house on the side of a mountain. It is at the end of a gravel road that winds through a horse ranch. You are away from the hustle of the city, but a 5 min drive down the mountain puts you in the center of Dillon. It is a great base for exploring Breckinridge and Vail, also. The views of Dillon Reservoir and the mountains are beautiful! The only down side of the location is that you are located high above the interstate; thus, you hear some of the traffic. After a bit, you don't notice it. The property has deck chairs and loungers to enjoy the view. You can also sit in the hot tub on enjoy the sunset. Being flat-landers from Texas, we were worried about the gravel drive, but it was easy to navigate. We drove it on a rainy day, and it was not muddy or slippery. I don't know what it would be like after a snow storm. If this is a concern for you, please call and discuss with the owners. They live on site and are very helpful and willing to answer any questions. Although the owners live above you, you rarely see or hear them. Occasionally, we heard a chair scrape across the floor or their toddler run across the room. However, most of the time, we didn't know if they were there or not. The apartment itself has very nice furniture and decor. It all looks brand new. The double headed steam shower is amazing! One bedroom has two King beds and the other has one king bed. The second bathroom has a large metal soaking tub with hand held shower nozzle. The tub is very nice for soaking, but it is not designed for a shower. The only shower is in the master bath. This was not a problem for us, but if you have multiple couples stay at the property, you might need to share the master bathroom for showers. The coaches in the living room are very comfortable. The property has two TVs-one in the living room and one in the room with the two king beds. There is no TV in the master bedroom. Since we like to fall asleep watching TV, we just stayed in the other bedroom. The kitchen is really just a narrow bar area with a sink, dishwasher and fridge. There is no stove/oven. However, the owner has provided a cooking appliances to make up for this. Thus, the place is not really designed for cooking large meals. We just used the gas grill outside for all of our cooking.There is no dining room table; they have 6 bar stools for eating at the bar. Great place! We hope to return.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful and so relaxing. The hot tub was excellent, the copper tub was relaxing, and I swore we heard wolfs howling in the distance while we drank our morning coffee on a cloudy day. I couldnt have asked for a better stay. Amy and Justin were wonderful host and SO friendly. We will most definitely be back.

Great location we felt like we were totally away from the hustle and bustle. But in five minutes, we could be in town and get anything that we needed. The steam shower was incredible. The hot tub has an amazing view. Host was very easy to work with great communication and very quick to get back with you if you had a question.

Stunning moutian views and great hospitality

Amy, our host, was super helpful and courteous. She greeted us and went over some key features that the lodging had to offer. It was a beautiful place with a private hot tub and patio over looking the moutains. We had the best experience and would highly recommend this place.

Beautiful mountain home

My family really enjoyed our stay here. The house is just a few minutes from all the action, but yet you are in a very quiet neighborhood with only a few houses. The views are amazing. Tough to beat sitting in the hot tub after a big day on the slopes. We would definitely stay here again.

Summit County ski trip

The spacious interior was upstaged only by the amazing mountain views, including from the private hot tub! The bedding was especially high quality, and there were plenty of towels and extra toiletries if needed. The ski boot warmer was a nice extra. Thanks to Amy and Justin, who are gracious and pleasant hosts. Can't wait to go back!

Exceeded my expectations!

I literally have nothing critical to say. The house was immaculate, it was more spacious than the photos showed, the view was like a painting and Amy and Justin (and Petey when she came around) were the greatest hosts. They have thought of every little detail. The Ugg blanket was a family favorite, the coffee was top-notch, the furnishings had understated Colorado charm. Stay…you won’t regret it!

Absolutely perfect!

Amy and Justin could not have made our stay any more enjoyable and easy. We were a little nervous traveling with a crawling standing 9 month old that gets into everything but the house layout and decor was very safe for a baby, we didn’t have to worry about anything dangerous he could get into. We also rented their car which was lovely until it had an unexpected mechanical problem which is a possibility with any vehicle. They promptly had a solution and provided their second vehicle so we had no time that we were without a vehicle. Linens and beds were so comfortable, the shower/sauna was a lovely treat after some long days on the slopes, the cleanliness was top notch and the views of the mountain range are breathtaking. I can only hope we have the opportunity to visit again and would absolutely stay here again.

Unique and comfy

Great place with a one of a kind view for VRBO’s. Nice people who are present on site. Everything works and is nice from the hot tub and grill to all inside appliances. Clean place with all you need. Really nice shower and tub.

Short family vaca

We enjoyed staying at ptarmigan. It was easy to find and Amy greeted us when we got there. It had every thing we needed. We came for a nice birthday weekend. We would definitely go back.

Perfect location

This place is in the perfect spot to get away from the crowds but, close enough to everything. The view from the porch is breathtaking and we’re happy we chose this location. Amy and Justin were very kind and helpful to us during our stay. I only wish we had more time to stay.

Great place!

We very much enjoyed staying at this property, the view is nothing short of amazing. Amy was super great to work with, such wonderful people.
