About this property
Folk Art Inspired Folk House in Tesuque
The Folk House is located about 6 miles from the Plaza in the beautiful village of Tesuque. Tucked away in the hills near the Santa Fe Opera, it is a truly unique and charming property which features two other available guest houses and small chapel. If you have a larger group and are interested in renting our other spaces concurrently, please feel free to contact us.
For those with a love of the eclectic, this folk art inspired guest house is a fun departure from the traditional New Mexican interior design. The house is cozy and inviting with plenty to look at. Through the front gate is a lovely fenced front yard with a built-in banco, and tables and chairs for relaxing oudoors. When you enter the front door, you`ll find the cozy living room with plenty of seating. Please note the fireplace is not available due to an issue with the liner. Use of the fireplace could result in house fire.
Off of the living room is the bedroom with a comfortable reading chair and large closet. The bathroom connects to the bedroom and has a beautifully tiled combined bath and shower. The kitchen has the same charm with a brightly colored floor and copper counter tops with plenty of space and equipment to prepare your meals. There is a small table and chairs located in the kitchen with a larger table available in the living room. As you head towards the back door you`ll find the laundry room with full washer and dryer. The back portal features a built-in banco and table and chairs overlooking a beautiful lawn.
There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy located around the property. Just a quick walk up a path and you`ll arrive at the large lawn which surrounds a small private chapel. Settle in under the large apricot tree or relax on the hammock nearby. Across the driveway are our resident alpacas who will look on with curiosity as you are traveling around the property. The property is also home to our on-site property managers, Jeff and Lauren and their two young children.
Please don`t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Amenities include:
Full Kitchen with seating for two Laundry room with washer and dryer Bedroom with large closet and queen sized bed Bathroom with combined bathtub and shower Living/Dining area featuring an open floor plan and dining table can accommodate up to 4 people. Small tv with basic cable Back portal snack area can seat 3 Front yard with garden surrounded by coyote fence
Guests will have full access to The Folk House as well as use of several other outdoors spaces.
My family and I live in a house on the property and will be available during your stay. We try to give our guests plenty of space but typically like to stop by and introduce ourselves at check-in. Update: Due to covid - we provide contactless check in and check out but are available if needed.
The Folk House is located on a large property and while you can conveniently access Santa Fe, it is feels like you are nestled away. The small village of Tesuque has two restaurants (one more casual, and another more formal) and a great foundry and sculpture garden. Most of the entertainment will be found in Santa Fe.
Guests will need a vehicle to get around comfortably although guests have had success using Uber for the occasional trip.
The winters here can be rather snowy and we recommend that guests have a 4WD or at least an AWD vehicle during the winter months. While we provide snow removal, the roads can be pretty slick.

Our three night stay was so restful. The location is quiet and peaceful. It’s also close to downtown Santa Fe, which makes it pretty much the perfect combination.
We absolutely LOVE the property! This is our second year staying at the property and we fall in love more and more with each stay. Attentive property management and so much character you’ll feel the same.
This little adobe house was perfectly cozy. We were surrounded by nature while conveniently close to Santa Fe. It is perfect and I hope to return soon!
Decorated with folk Southwest decor. Cozy and welcoming and the property is absolutely beautiful. The host was beyond welcoming and accommodating. Great place and great stay!
Charming property and well located very near Tesuque village market - where we ate several lunches and a dinner. The property is exactly as as shown in the listing photos - and no disappointments at all. We’d love to return next year and will contact our host about dates in early fall.Great property manager, as well. Thanks so much for being attentive without smothering us!Best regards,Ruth & Michael Burke
This is a wonderful property, filled with folk art, comfortable furniture, and abundant supplies for every kind of comfort. The setting is perfect - a beautiful location for relaxing or hiking, close to restaurants, galleries, a glass studio, and the opera.
We did not want to stay in the city, even though we planned on activities in Santa Fe. We also planned a trip to Taos and the Pueblo, so the location at Teseque was perfect. House was older but cozy and supplied with everything we needed. The little chapel and llamas on property were a bonus.
This place has everything. The location is wonderful, and the cottage itself is on a large property. Total privacy. The cottage itself has everything that one could need. Just bring your clothes! Plan to stay an extra day just to enjoy the cottages front fenced in yard, and the back covered patio. Eager to stay here again

Perfect little get away spot
We stayed in the folk house. Extremely cute and filled with all kinds of amenities, we truly enjoyed our three nights at this property. Property managers were helpful and friendly, Lauren even let me borrow a yoga mat. The entire property is well maintained, the gardens are beautiful. One note, the fireplace in the folk house was not working, we wish they would have listed this on home away.

Thank you for your visit and your feedback! We apologize about the fireplace. We recently had them inspected, during which we were told it could not be used. We have since removed it from the list of amenities. Please consider staying with us if you are ever in Santa Fe again!
I enjoyed everything about the Folk House. Any issues or problems were resolved by the hosts quickly. The Folk House is a filled with folk art of all kinds relevant to Southwestern culture and history. The attention to detail is incredible and very inspiring. This is a very warm and inviting adobe.
Wow. Where do I begin. My girlfriend and I came for three nights after two nights at a spa north. The property is soooo cute and well organized and the house was eclectic yet comfortable and easy. Great location 15 min north of downtown. The alpalcas were very cute and the chapel on the property is straight o it of a fairytale. Overall an amazing stay and would love to visit again
This is a wonderfully comfortable, lovely, wonderfully decorated where we were trancended to a magical and restful stay. It was better than expected and described on the ad and look forward to coming back again and again to this magical place. We loved it so much that we ended up extending our stay. Excellent communication and follow up with the property manager. Thank you so much! 10+
We liked the location of the property since it was convenient to Santa Fe, Taos, Los Alamos and 1 hour from Albuquerque. The appliances were excellent. There was not a lot of counter space in the kitchen but we made do by moving a few things out of our way. My biggest issue was lack of good lighting. There were few overhead lights and lamps were dim. Keep in mind we are in our 60's. Communication with property manager was always prompt.
My partner and I stayed here for six nights in early September. The property is absolutely beautiful complete with alpaca, a small number of guest houses well situated away from one another, a charming small chapel, and comfortable seating under the trees. Even a hammock! We both definitely needed a rest in the country to reconnect and restore and this was the place.
Lauren was delightful to work with and everyone we encountered on the property was friendly.
The house is a short distance from Tesuque market, one of our favorite places to eat, grab a glass of wine, and pick up some basics. There are also other nice restaurants nearby in case you don’t want to go back at the Santa Fe. If you do need to go to Santa Fe, it’s a very short distance into the plaza maybe 10 to 15 minutes max.
We will return!
The pictures are exactly what you’ll walk into. Very charming and creative folk decor throughout the house and property. Extremely quiet and peaceful. Short drive to Santa Fe attractions but we enjoyed spending most of our time in Tesuque.
Highly recommend for a couple.
