Peaceful cabin in Rice Lake
Nice home located not too far away from city conveniences but far enough away to relax. Showers hot, lots of towels, excellent spot for a few hikers to make base camp for a few days.

If you are looking for a house on a quiet slit of the lake, this is your place.
Very clean and cozy property, in a very quiet and safe neighborhood. Very well stocked with all your necessary items. Great yard/ fire pit area. We were happy to find the public boat landing was close, but we thought we would be able to dock our boat at the property. As it turned out the lake access from property was all grown in with vegetation and not accessible. And no way to fish from the dock. The actual fishing for us was a bust… the sunfish and crappies were just under the size to keep- but we enjoyed just being out on the lake!

From the owner: "Thank you for your review and for choosing our property for your stay. We’re glad you enjoyed the home, the yard, and the quiet neighborhood. We do want to clarify for future guests that the dock is indeed accessible and many of our neighbors, as well as past guests, use it regularly for boating and fishing. Seasonal vegetation growth along the shoreline can vary, which may have made it more challenging during your visit, but the dock itself remains usable. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope you were still able to enjoy your time on the lake and at the property!"
House was perfect for our needs. Fire pit area was used every day. Kitchen was also used daily. Very quiet neighhborhood. Canoe was a nice perk. Water area is not a swimming area...too shallow and mucky but that wasn't a concern of ours. Would recommend this to anyone visiting Rice Lake.
We had the most relaxing and comfotable stay here. Everything was very clean and many little touches made it really welcoming and homey. We enjoyed canoe rides, just sitting outside enjoying the scenery and the many birds, fishing, etc. But the inside was just as great. The house is small, but it feels spacious (the living room is enormous!). The master bedroom had a super comfortable bed and the bunk beds were comfortable too. None of us wanted to leave. Our dog loved it too and was right at home. Thank you for sich a lovely place to stay, Mike!
It is an interesting property with lots of outdoor deck space. Inside there is a comfortable living room. The beds are older and not made to support someone who is 200 lb or more (I purchased a blow up air mattress). The kitchen is well provisioned. I was there for work so did not explore the lake, it looks a bit swampy near the house. You need to bring your own boat to do this.
Great place to stay, unless the temperature outside is over 70 degrees.
Wonderful place, has everything you need so you can pack light. We will stay here again, but only if it is not over 70 degrees outside. The one room AC, in the living room, didn’t make a dent in the summer heat. Sadly, the house was so hot that we got very little sleep. If they put a window AC in the bedrooms, it would be bearable for summer.

Hi Julia, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced issues with the AC during your trip. After sending your feedback to the homeowner, they’d like to share the following: We've had guests give us good reviews on the air conditioner and its ability to cool the house. We provide operating instructions on the air conditioner which helps guide guests on fan settings and temperature selection, but we're sorry if you missed this. We’d love the opportunity to host you again soon!
This is our second stay at fishermans paradise. We have a 4 yr old and twin 2 year olds. This location is wonderful in relation to parks there is Narrows park (2min), Moon lake park (less than 5), Roux Park (7min). Our new favorite local to support is Cheese Louise next to Agonic brewing. If you are into coffee shops I recommend Badger Brew - their lemon blueberry scones are divine. Fisherman's paradise is also only 5 mins from Marketplace grocery and liquor store (truly a wonderful selection). While we weren't able to visit this time I highly recommend The Milk Pail - a local ice cream shop with a vintage vibe. I did notice that the "master" bedroom had a new mattress that is much improved than our last visit. We greatly appreciate that. There is minimal decor to move up to be safe for toddlers. We look forward to staying again in the spring.
We had a great time staying at this home on Rice Lake. The host made sure that everything possible was provided. Here’s a list of what I can remember:
• Fresh carnation flowers in a vase (how sweet)
• Some candy & cookies & restaurant coupons (very thoughtful)
• Notepad and pen for making lists
• First aid kit (which was appreciated because we needed a band aid)
• Extra TP, paper towels, trash bags
• All necessary kitchen utensils plus a BBQ grill set.
• Coffee & coffee filters
• Salt & pepper
• Plastic wrap, aluminum foil, sandwich bags
• Napkins
• Flashlight
• Plenty of bathroom towels
• Kleenex
• Extra pillows
• Cleaning supplies
• Laundry supplies
• Wood for fire pit (we didn’t take advantage of this)
• Canoe (we didn’t test it out but it looked large and sturdy)
• Even a basket of children’s books!
There was a lovely dog park nearby. It is free and was not crowded anytime we went there. There isn’t much shade so I would recommend only going when it is cooler out.
We eat most meals at home. The local grocery store had a great butcher which offered a variety of prepared meats for either grilling or baking in the oven. This worked out perfect for me (chief cook & bottlewasher)!
Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for more – except maybe having more fishing success! LOL! The host left detailed instructions if you happen to bring home dinner from the lake. Good luck!
We hope to return in the near future.
We wanted a quiet getaway with a lake view and that’s exactly what we got. The house is well kept on a small bay on the lake but close to everything in town. They had all the little things you need for a great stay including the things you may have forgotten. Would definitely stay again!
The house and property were great! Felt like a home away from home. The house was clean and had anything we needed. My son loved going out on the lake with the canoe and catching minnows off the dock.
Great place to stay for family vacation especially if you want to get some fishing done. Kitchen is well stocked, even a grill to use just bring charcoal. If you are looking for good barbecue...go to Old Southern BBQ!!
Check in/out process was easy. Very quiet location, while we were there anyway. Boat landing just to the north to put your boat in and dock at the property for quick access to the lake. Great little place for a getaway, would recommend. Also pet friendly, so that is always appreciated!
