Villa in Quinta da Saudade, Vale da Parra, Guia, Portugal - 2 Shared Pools, Tennis, Mini-golf, Table Tennis, Horse Riding, Children's Pool And Play Area
About Geraldine Venables
We live in Hertfordshire with our 5 year old Standard Schnauzer called Tilly. We enjoy walking with our dog especially in our local country park. We first holidayed in Portugal in the mid eighties when our children were young, we happened to stay at the Quinta for the first time a few years later and fell in love with its unique character. We bought Casa Amendoeira in 1989 and have spent many years lovingly updating it but allowing it to remain quintessentially Portugese. We have seen our children grow up on many holidays there and have made great friends with other families who holiday at the Quinta. Now our grandchildren are experiencing the Quinta and loving it as much as our children did. It is quite simply our home from home
Geraldine Venables purchased this Villa in 1990
What makes this Villa unique
Casa Amendoeira has a prime position on the Quinta enjoying not only the best views but easy accessibility to all facilities whilst remaining private and tranquil. The views to Carlos Beach are unforgettable, one never tires of sitting on the terrace in the evening watching the sunset whilst enjoying a glass of wine. Often you will see the horses returning from their ride to the beach or the Shepherd returning with his herd of goats for the night.

We enjoyed every minute at the Quinta de Saudade. Our villa had everything we needed, alibfxwith a lovely view and we enjoyed horseback riding on the beach and our walks to the lagoon to see flamingos, spoonbill cranes and a variety of water birds Great restaurant on property with excellent service and delicious food. We would go back. ❤️🇵🇹
We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday and hope you will return again. There are many lovely walks nearby and lots of birdlife especially round the wetlands nature reserve. We are very lucky to have such well kept stables on site with so many horses to suit every ability. The food in the restaurant is superb and the bar is a meeting place for everyone to get to know each other and Mario makes fantastic cocktails.
We look forward to welcoming you back again.
Wonderful location for a family holiday
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The villa is comfortable and is equipped with everything you would need and the view from the balcony is fantastic. The complex has two swimming pools, a bar and a lovely restaurant that we would definitely recommend visiting. We also went on two beach rides and the horses at the stables are suitable for all abilities. My son made lots of friends and enjoyed the swimming pool, crazy golf and playing football. We look forward to returning next year.
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at our villa. Whenever we go to the villa we always do little updates or improvements. The stables are a great asset to the Quinta and our grandchildren love visiting them and feeding the other animals they keep.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the villa maybe next year.

We went with three children 11, 10 and 7 the villa and Pool were fantastic. Set in a peaceful valley away from the crowds but close enough to all the amenities and beaches. Our daughters loved the horse riding.
Thank you for writing a review and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at our villa.
The stables are a huge asset to the Quinta. our granddaughters love going to feed the donkeys, ponies and whatever other animals are there not forgetting the horses of course.
We would love to welcome you back to the Quinta and hope you will return to the villa in the not too distant future.

Excellent and well located
From the booking right through to arrival this was perfect, and the villa could not be better. There was an Arrival pack, the beds were ready , the air con was on, there was wood for the wood burner, the kitchen has everything you need, and we could sit on the balcony at sunset watching a golden sun set over a nature reserve and the beach. We LOVED it and will be back!

This was our first visit to the quinta.
Firstly, Geradline was exceptionally helpful with the booking process and answering questions - very efficient and we felt we were in good hands! The office staff at the quinta were also very helpful.
The location is idyllic and peaceful yet still within easy reach of busier resorts if that is what you are looking for. We had a car which made it easy to travel around.
The villa itself was immaculate and equipped with all you could wish for and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. Geraldine has provided a good information pack on places to visit/eat and there are also books and dvds available.
We particularly appreciated the wood burning stove in the villa for the cooler evenings since we were visitng late December/early January when the temperature in the mornings and evenings can be chilly. There was also heating in the bedrooms which in the winter months is most welcome.
The view from the villa is outstanding - across the nature reserve and out towards the sea and further along the coast to armaceo de pera. The sunsets were stunning. The sun terrace has plenty room to relax with loungers and patio furniture. From here we also enjoyed watching the horses being trained at the on site stables and heading out/coming back from treks. The terrace also has views to the nature reserve and out to sea. The grounds themselves are immaculate and we enjoyed sitting round the pools in the sunshine - there are two to choose from - (also in pristine condition) . The maid service was excellent - she even set the wood burning stove ready for us to light on our return to the villa after a day exploring!
We certainly hope to return to the villa for a future holiday - we have been lots of holidays to the algarve and this was definitely one of the best places we have stayed. We would most definitely recommend this to friends.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us a lovely review, We are so pleased you found everything to your satisfaction and had 2 weeks of sunshine in January,
We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future.

Quiet hillside location easy access to attractions
This spacious 2-bed apartment is situated in a peaceful, rural, hillside location within 5 minutes drive from the local beach, in fact most of the Algarve is accessible within an hour's drive -- in the 7 days we visited we went to 7 different beaches all within easy driving from the villa. The apartment has everything you would need for a self-catering holiday, with a lovely care package waiting for us on arrival. As we did most of our planning for the next day from the apartment, it would however benefit from wifi access throughout the apartment (only the far corner of the balcony had very intermittent wifi). There are 2 beautiful and clean pools - after the day at the beach we unwound by the upper pool and basically had it to ourselves.
The nearest beach about two miles away (less than 5 minutes drive) has long stretches of sand bounded by dunes with a beach bar and is never crowded even in August. Further along the coast are pretty sandy coves, hidden amongst stunning Algarve rocks and cliffs, with clear rock pools to explore.
Faro Airport is 40 minutes away. Hiring a car would be advisable.
Zoo Marine is about 5-10 minute drive and the nearest Water Splash park is approximately 10 minutes drive. Algarve Shopping Centre with its shops, restaurants, cinemas and bowling alley is approximately 5 minutes drive from the Quinta
The fishing towns of Albufeira and Armacao de Pera are about ten minutes drive away with plenty of restaurants, shops, markets and nightlife. Closer to the Quinta is the old village of Guia with numerous inexpensive restaurants where chicken piri-piri is a speciality. Local amenities include golf, water skiing, windsurfing, jet ski, cycling, tennis, walking, horse riding, parascending, aqua park, swimming, bird watching, flora and fauna, sea fishing. There is also good nightlife within 5 minutes drive.
Horse riding is available on site where you can enjoy an hour or two hour ride through the beautiful countryside, sand dunes and local beach. For those less experienced riders lessons are available in the outside school. Hard hats are provided. Carriage rides can be booked for the more mature person
