About the host
Hosted by Linda and Andy
Linda and Andy have lived in Carbondale and the Roaring Fork Valley for over 40 years. They have watched the town grow from a small mining and ranching community to being named one of the “Top 12 Towns” in the “50 Next Great Places to Live and Play”
by National Geographic Adventure magazine and can offer great advice on what to see and do in the valley. They live in the main house and along with their young adult son work in a separate artist's studio on the property. Andy is a talented landscape painter working in oil whose paintings are included in numerous collections and is represented by Korologos Gallery in Basalt Colorado and A Gallery in Salt Lake City, Utah. Linda, after retiring from managing a 1.5 acre organic school garden, works with glass creating functional and decorative pieces. Young Andy works in acrylic, creating geometric color studies.

Why they chose this property
Carbondale became home for Andy after graduating from Colorado College in the early 70's. He finds the light on the western slope of the Rockies provides the perfect venue for drawing and painting. When he purchased the property Carbondale was a small town with a small town pace. While it has grown it remains a place where you know your neighbors and rarely have to deal with traffic or crowds. Linda came to the Roaring Fork Valley in the late sixties to be a ski bum. While she left that lifestyle behind, the beauty of the valley has kept her here. Carbondale is where Andy and Linda raised their family and have long-standing friendships that keep them here.
What makes this property unique
The main house is a craftsmen style bungalow built in 1917. The cottage was designed to fit into the overall warmth of that architectural style, but has the benefit of having all the modern comforts. In the summer the numerous gardens throughout the property reflect the whole family's love of gardening. The 8th street property is in a quiet residential neighborhood, which reflects Carbondale's eclectic personality. Neighboring houses run the gamut from log cabins to 60's ranches to old Victorians. It would be easy for guests to imagine that they live in a small mountain town with its slower pace of life and everything needed within walking distance.
