Luxury south-facing chalet 5 minutes from ski slopes, 15 minutes from Chatel


Chalet Pelerin, surrounded by the Chablais mountains, is situated midway between Abondance and La Chapelle d'Abondance and just a few minutes from Chatel. The chalet is just 75 minutes from Geneva with easy access to the Portes du Soleil which, with 650km of pistes, incorporates 14 resorts including Chatel, Avoriaz, Torgon, Champery, Morgins, Morzine and Les Gets.

It is a great base for either a winter or summer holiday as a place to relax and enjoy beautiful scenery. Abondance/Chatel is a true dual season resort, with extensive skiing and boarding in the winter, and walking, climbing, mountain biking, paragliding, kayaking, rafting and fishing in the summer.

The chalet has been designed in typical Savoyard style over 3 floors, covering 170 sq.m., featuring a large open plan lounge and dining area including leather sofas and solid oak dining room furniture, a fully fitted oak kitchen and separate utility area and fully furnished south-facing terrace overlooking the valley and River Dranse directly below.

There are 6 beautifully appointed bedrooms, (3 doubles and 3 twins), sleeping up to 12 adults (plus a child in a travel cot) with 4 bathrooms including 3 en-suite.

All prices are based on full occupancy. Partial occupancy bookings and discounts are also available (other than for Christmas, New Year and February half term weeks) which vary according to party size. Discounts of between 30% and 40% are also available for booking 7 nights (other than those weeks where 7 nights is the minimum reservation). Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

There are no additional charges for cleaning, linen, towels, Wi-Fi or anything else.

Great place in a superb location

Lovely warm cosy chalet. Really well set up for large family groups. A good location 5 minutes from the slopes at LaChapelle. The host was great and advised on good places to visit. A great place for a skiing holiday!

Wonderful accommodation

Our new year friends snd family skiing holiday was made even more perfect by the wonderful accommodation, The chalet is perfect for large groups but also maintains a homely and cosy feel. Communication with Paul was effortless, who was a wonderful host. Location is great for the many surrounding ski areas and beautiful towns. Can’t recommend enough.

Beautiful chalet close to Abondance

Very nice chalet, everything you need is available. Even a christmas tree was waiting for us. However there was no snow at all, we had a pleasant week.

A wonderful Christmas break!

We spent Christmas at the Chalet Pelerin with family and all was perfect: the location, the chalet, the gifts from the owners. It is very close to La Chappelle d'Abondance where people are super nice. I recommend warmly!

Wonderful chalet.

Immediately felt at home in this wonderful chalet, the furnishings and finish of the chalet was superb with all you could possibly need in the kitchen cupboards. Would recommend this chalet very highly but you do really need a car as the local ski buses are not that frequent, but that does mean that you can explore properly this stunning area. Great place and well worth a visit

Wow!!! This chalet is a fabulous home from home!!!

Well what can I say other than this chalet is perfect in every way, the detail that the owners have put in is very impressive everything has been thought about all you need to do is arrive and enjoy the spectacular views and scenery. The chalet is managed and maintained to the highest standards and for anyone looking this would be the best decision you make by booking this chalet by far! I have just returned after having a week there with a small family party and already looking to get the next visit in place (missing it already) the location is perfect for access to ski resorts etc and some lovely places to dine and browse at your leisure. Thank you for the best holiday and sharing this beautiful home with us and we look forward to staying there in the near future.

Wonderful home away from home

We were there in the summer, grandparents, parents and children. Luckily, the weather was agreeably cool. Not only is this chalet spacious (6 bedrooms) with all the extraordinary amenities (just think: there never was a queue to a bathroom), but also nothing is missing, even a set of plastic dishes and cups for the little one. Cooking was a cinch, so many excellent pots and pans, cutlery, dishes, glasses in profusion. A dish washing machine, clothes washing and drier, a second small fridge made the stay even easier. Add to that the location with its views on the green mountains; the different open air markets close by; the many treks up the mountains - or by cable car - to numerous lakes; a fascinating visit to the Devil's Gorge; in Thollon - 25 minutes away by car - paragliding down to lake Geneva or walking by the cliffs with a fantastic view of the lake; so many places to go to. Really, a perfect place for a summer holiday with children.

Great for winter skiing

A very well equipped and clean, modern, chalet located just off the main road between Abondance (3 mins drive) and La Chappelle (5 mins drive). Communication with the host was excellent - they were very friendly - and instructions, directions, etc, first class. They also recommend ski hire providers and offer to arrange lift passes for you. Towels & bed lined were included (and they also left us some sausage & a pasta bake as am added bonus!!). The chalet is comfortable for up to 8 adults but would be a tight squeeze for more than that (the dining table seats 8-10 & lounge area 7-8). If you're skiing you really need your own transport. The Linga lift is 15 mins drive & Pre La Joux 20 mins. Both have lots of free parking. The driveway to the chalet is steep and you'll need winter tyres or chains in snowy conditions (but you can park at the bottom of the drive if needed). There are no bars & restaurants close by but plenty within 5 mins drive. If you're okay with all that then it's an excellent place to stay for skiing.

Week-end entre amis.

Séjour très agréable dans ce grand chalet familial au cœur de la région. Ponctué de balades et de découvertes. Le chalet est très bien organisé. Nous étions trois familles à deux enfants chacune et tous avons eu notre espace. L'équipement complet pour passer un très bon moment. Le temps maussade nous a fait faire une petite flambée dans le poêle et rien ne manquait. Peut-être, une hache plus petite pour réaliser le petit bois serait plus appropriée, mais sinon parfait. Le contact avec les propriétaires, exclusivement par courrier électronique, fut toujours très cordial et plein de bienveillance. Nous recommandons chaleureusement cette location.

Chalet bien situé et agréable à vivre

Le chalet dispose de toutes les comodites possible. Nous l’avons trouvé dans un bon état de propreté. Au mur de nombreux posters de films qui donne, en plus, l’accès à la mémoire des nombreux films exposés. La seule petite remarque, pas bien grave mais gênante concerne la salle de bain du 1er étage (surtout l’accès à la cabine de douche par trop exiguë) en dehors de cela, je recommande vivement cette location.

Chalet accueillant, parfait pour Noël

Nous avons passé notre fête de Noël dans ce chalet avec plusieurs membres de famille (9 adultes, 1 enfant, 2 bébés). Le chalet était exactement ce qu’on a cherché pour notre fête: un endroit grand, bien équipé et confortable, avec en plus des attentions spéciales comme le déco de Noël pour ajouter à l’ambiance :) Malgré le temps pendant notre séjour nous avons vraiment profiter de ce moment, nous avons spécialement apprécié la poêle pour se réchauffer! La mise à disposition des serviettes et de la literie était également un plus, surtout la bonne qualité de l’ensemble. Nous n’hésiterons pas de retourner encore dans ce chalet.

Comfortable, warm and homely

A fantastic chalet - clean, warm, comfortable and very well- equipped to a high standard. The accommodation met our party’s needs perfectly - so nice for each of our 3 separate family groups to have their own space and bathroom facilities. Plenty of room for the 9 of us to enjoy a meal together around the dining table or an evening round the fire playing games. Contact with Paul was great. Several ski lifts an easy drive away. The only thing we missed was a bar or restaurant within walking distance of the property hence 4 star rating overall. Thank you Chalet Pellerin ! We would definitely visit again .

Super chalet au bon endroit

Nous avons séjourné dans ce chalet comme à la maison, très beau chalet avec un confort extrême à tous les niveau. Chalet très bien situé, à 5 mn en voiture des pistes. Nous ne regrettons pas notre location et n'hésiterons pas à relouer pour un prochain séjour. La communication avec Paul a été excellente dès le début de la réservation. Nous avons eu un livret très complet avec toutes les explications du logement ainsi que les endroits à découvrir dans le coin. Je recommande ce logement à 100%. Encore merci Paul. Le chalet est parfait, un peu en retrait d'une route très fréquentée, mais dans une vallée assez encaissée donc peu de soleil en hiver, et aucune possibilité de promenade, ni de courses à pied directement à partir du chalet, le tarif est affiché en euros mais facturé en livres ce qui occasionne des frais de change

Ma femme a été un peu surprise car elle ne skie pas mais trouve de nombreuses occasions de marcher, dans les deux sens le long de la rivière ou dans les montagnes via les remontées mécaniques. Je dois également mentionner pour le bénéfice des clients non britanniques que nos taux sont en livres, ce qui signifie que les paiements finaux dans d’autres devises sont soumis à des mouvements de taux de change, généralement très mineurs, sur lesquels, malheureusement, nous n’avons aucun contrôle. Je suis désolé que le taux de change ait été un inconvénient plutôt qu’un avantage à cette occasion. Cordialement et bonne année.

We first skied together in 2003 at a time when we were thinking about buying a holiday home and the idea of a ski chalet emerged over the next year. We settled in 2005 on the beautiful Abondance valley and the magnificent Portes du Soleil and moved in on 6 February 2006. We wanted to create a large ski chalet for rental that was also a home from home - and we think we've made a pretty decent job of it. We visit as often as we can in groups large and small to ski, walk, cycle, swim and recharge the batteries in this most peaceful, gorgeous and relaxing setting. And practice our rubbish French.

Why they chose this property

Abondance is a proper farming village with a lovely square which functions all year round unlike some ski areas which are ghost towns out of season. It's easy to reach from Geneva and is only 30 mins from the lake-side Evian and Thonon spa towns. The Sunday market is terrific. The skiing area is vast, varied (from the very quiet to the very busy), reliable and has benefitted from millions of euros in investment. Traditional alpine farming skills are still in evidence and whilst you can't move for tourists in many alpine areas in the summer these beautiful mountains can virtually be all yours. The autumn colours are dazzling.

What makes this property unique

The chalet is equipped with all the comforts of home to a very high standard - including a fully stocked kitchen (it is very rare that we are asked for something that is not provided), free WIFI, a 40 inch 'smart' TV (and 2 smaller ones) and a large selection of games, music and DVDs. We offer a very personal approach to all our clients, including flexible booking dates, to ensure you have all you need well in advance, and an excellent chalet manager to look after any problems during your stay. We provide a comprehensive information pack in advance and in the chalet and guidance on how to get the best of the facilities - but very few rules. We like to think that if we look after our guests they will look after our home.

A recent guest commented that they had never stayed in the same place twice before staying at ours.
