Fabulous Tuscan apartment near Volterra

The property is in a complex of 20 apartments set in a recently restored 17th century villa finished in 2008. There is a large pool and communal gardens, the apartment is on the first floor with a small balcony containing a dining table and chairs overlooking the surrounding countryside. There is an open plan living/dining area with double height ceilings and exposed beams with french doors leading onto the balcony. The apartment is ideally situated 50 minutes drive south of Pisa Airport, 60 minutes South West of Florence, 10 minutes from Volterra and 30 minutes from the beaches of Cecina.

We are a family with one 4 year old and one teenager. We love the relaxation of the area, the closeness to beaches and medieval towns and all the tourist sights of Tuscany but with the quiteness of rural life.

Why they chose this property

The property is typical Tuscan style . We were looking for a old property and found this 17th century farmhouse conversion. It has all the needs for modern day life as well as a pool aircon etc. The area is very unspoilt yet 10 minutes drive to the local village of Saline Di Volterra, 20 minutes to Volterra and 40minutes to Cecina on the coast. Within 1 hour is San Gimanigno and Pisa. Sienna and Florence can be reached in 90 minutes. There are several local restaurants in the nearby village with a wine shop and small supermarket. For those who are active Volterra has a public gym and olympic size pool. The area has great hiking trails , we love the 8km route from Saline up to Volterra

What makes this property unique

This is the only apartment in the building with an outdoor balcony overlooking the hilltop town of Montecatini Val Di Cecina. It is a beautiful place to watch the sunset over the fields in the summer evenings
