Our stay at this cottage with its wild garden was an unforgettable experience. It offered a harmonious blend of natural beauty, tranquility, and comfort. If you're seeking an idyllic retreat in a quiet location with a well-equipped and meticulously maintained cottage, I wholeheartedly recommend this enchanting hideaway. It's the perfect destination to unwind, reconnect with nature, and rejuvenate your mind and soul.
This property and location are just idyllic. Everything is clean and very well presented. The host is helpful and attentive when required. The area is quiet and relaxing.
Es war alles sehr gut.Ausstattung und Umgebung waren ganz nach unseren Vorstellungen. Die Eigentümer waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.Wir können dieses Cottage immer weiter empfehlen.
Louise and Matt made us very welcome and the cottage had everything we needed including all kitchen essentials. The garden is very relaxing and we were glad to be able to find lots of cool shady areas in the very hot weather that we had during our stay.Quite nicely situated for visiting the Lizard area and not too far to drive to get to the Penzance and Cape Cornwall areas. Recommended for garden lovers.
Garden Cottage is a well-designed small property. It's set in a beautiful garden of calm and tranquillity. We stayed for 5 nights, visiting various places on the Lizard peninsula and also Trebah Garden. Owners Matt and Louise were very helpful. They also provided lots of literature about the area and maps of local walks.
A perfect retreat after a difficult year. This little cottage offers everything you need for a couple or single. Set in gardens created with interesting architecture and planting the location offers a peaceful and relaxing hideaway. The overall location offers the best of the Lizard within easy reach and easy access to the Scilly Isles. The hosts are thoughtful, welcoming and discreet. Highly recommended.
This lovely well appointed house was in the perfect location and gave us plenty to do. The hosts made sure we settled in well and left us to enjoy the area in beautiful sunshine. A perfectly relaxing break.
Everything about the property was fine and the garden was exceptional.
If anyone in your party is over 5'8" tall they will struggle with ceiling height, though!
Sehr schönes Ambiente, sehr ruhig, das richtige zur Entspannung.
Sehr freundliche Vermieter. Das Gartenhaus ist klein aber fein. Alles da was gebraucht wird.

Beautiful cottage and garden but really really small!
The cottage and garden were full of character and contained everything we needed for our stay. The area was beautiful and we really enjoyed exploring it. The only negative was the cottage was really tiny and we felt there wasn’t really room to sit around and relax. If it was warmer I’m sure we’d have just sat in the garden which was really stunning with lots of interesting nooks and crannies.

About the host

Louise and I have lived at Caervallack since we were married in 1995 and have two adult sons. I work as an niche Architect, designing contemporary buildings in Ancient materials (such as Oak frames or cob(earth walls) of which the Garden Cottage is an example. My wife is a full time Painter-artist, taking inspiration from the beautiful area in which we live . Together we have created the large garden which the Cottage has exclusive access to - Louise the plants and Matt the buildings, walls , topiary and hard landscaping.
Why they chose this property
We were lucky enough to find our Dream House, an unspoilt Grade II listed building which needed lots of work. The area is particularly beautiful and full of mature trees, unusual for West Cornwall.
What makes this property unique
The Cottage is in Ancient land ,and is first mentioned in 1273 (in a legal dispute over Tithes between St.Michael's mount & the parish of Mawgan). We are told the house & garden have an exceptional atmosphere, complimented by the contemporary garden which is all yours to enjoy :a modern twist to an ancient theme.
There are fantastic walks right out the front gate to Frenchmans creek, the Helford river and through mature woodland.
Food is very close at hand too: organic pasties & fresh landed fish are both 5 minutes walk away, while there are three excellent restaurants within 8 minutes drive.
There are 9 coves and beeches within 15minutes drive.
The garden has featured in many glossy magazines over the years - Country Living, The English Garden, Landscape, Cornwall Today and perhaps more impressively in the books "Secret Gardens of Cornwall" & "Dream gardens - 100 contemporary gardens in England".
