Heron's Lodge is beautiful pine lodge situated less than a mile from the family-owned sandy beach at Bantham, with its dunes and river mouth. It has a decking area with a table and two chairs, and a view overlooking the sea. Bantham has an excellent pub, The Sloop, and the village store caters for all your essential needs and is also a coffee shop(open mornings only off season). The lodge boasts easy access to a number of beautiful cliff-top and inland walks. Kingsbridge, the nearest town, is just 3 miles away. Beautiful Salcombe, Dartmouth and alternative Totnes are within easy travelling distance by car. 4G mobile phone signal available. Free wi fi for tablets and i pads at the the local pub and shop. Please note: FRIDAY CHANGEOVERS ONLY from May-September.

Stunning

Perfectly situated to beach and circular walks from lodge. Stunning view, welcoming and friendly hosts. Lodge itself had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Blinds allowed us to sleep easy once the sun had risen. Couldn’t ask for more. Thank you so much x

Epic view, lovely lodge

Warm welcome, spotless place and epic view! Our hostess was very forthcoming and friendly. The lack of wifi posed a bit of a problem, though it had been advertised as present. The road to the lodge was a bit of a challenge, however, the quiet, the view and the lodge itself made for a wonderful stay!

What a view

The lodge was cosy and well equiped with all that I needed. Such a treat to be able to sit on the decking with that view, then a very enjoyable walk along the estuary.

We are an outgoing and friendly couple who really enjoy letting our lodge to different people. Our aim is to make our guests happy and ensure that they have a relaxing and memorable holiday.

Why they chose this property

It is in an unbeatable location: Peaceful and quiet, near pretty thatched villages and 10 minutes drive from the picturesque market town of Kingsbridge. It overlooks Bantham and Bigbury sandy beaches, with a direct view of Burgh Island. Sometimes you can see what is reputed to be the world's only working sea tractor transporting people from Bigbury to the island. The art deco hotel on Burgh Island is often featured on travel programmes. Noel Coward and Agatha Christie have both stayed at the hotel, and one of Christie's Hercule Poirot movies was filmed there. The A38 and railway station are only 30 minutes drive away. Dartmoor is half an hour's drive. Beautiful Salcombe takes 20 minutes in the car and Dartmouth only 40 minutes. Plymouth city is 45 minutes away. What more can you ask for?

What makes this property unique

It is close to Kingsbridge, and has magnificent sea views, superb sandy beaches, fabulous walks and beautiful sunsets. Private, off road parking is available next to the Lodge.It is an easy walk to the local pub, The Sloop, which has excellent food.The Lodge is even organically varnished inside. It is totally safe from floods. Herons Lodge is very well insulated, so it is guaranteed to be cosy and warm all year round.The location has everything going for it. Come and see for yourselves!
