About the host

I live in the Midlands with my husband. We try to regularly visit Thurlestone, our favourite place in the South Hams, as often as commitments allow. The property has been in the family for over 35 years, during this time it has been the hub for fabulous family beach holidays. I have tried to make the bungalow comfortable, a home from home for my guests to enjoy. I have repeat visitors year after year with some visitors even settling on their retirement in the neighbourhood. I would say if you love nature and walking and peace and quiet you will love the South Hams.

Why they chose this property

Tucked away in a corner of Thurlestone, but just a short stroll to the centre with thatched cottages, a Village Inn, a Post Office, a Church, and the 4 star Thurlestone Hotel. The village boasts a links golf course, tennis courts and access to the South West Coastal Path.
This cosy coastal property offers amazing views across the valley and out to sea, visible from the garden and inside the property. The house is fully equipped, comfortable beds, electric heating with a log burner for those cooler nights. The garden at the rear of the property is secure, with wood fencing on both sides and a double wire fence at the end of the garden so this does not impair the wonderful view we have across the valley and out to sea, with Burgh Island being a central point. We have a private parking space outside our own garage.
Shops in our nearest town of Kingsbridge have everything you need, from a fish shop, a bakers, small independent retailers, alongside large Tesco and Morrison's stores . Wonderful walks on the South West Coastal path which can be accessed from the property. Superb choice of wonderful sandy beaches, many within a 25 minute walk or 5 minute drive.

What makes this property unique

Thurlestone is an ideal place to stay if you like Walking, Bird Watching, Beaches, Nature, Golf, Tennis etc. A central position to explore the South Hams, with Salcombe, Hope Cove, Kingsbridge, Totnes and Dartmouth amongst the many places for a great day out. The Bungalow provides a Welcome Book giving you all the information you will need to maximise your stay including a list of local eateries. In the Summer you may see fantastic sunsets, a perfect end after a day at the beach, sitting in the garden enjoying a G&T while the BBQ sizzles away and the sun goes down. I would not recommend the area to anyone who wants busy night life. Entertainment here is more a great chat whilst enjoying a good meal ! There are 2 local Pubs one in The Village with good food and occasional quiz nights and music nights but we provide loads of Games and Videos, DVD's for your use.
