About this property

Spacious 3 bedroom gite, sleeping 6 - perfect to explore the Loire Valley.

La Croix feels like home as you walk in the door.

Comfortable and spacious with lots of character and all the modern facilities you can want. Superfast fibre free Wifi as well as excellent 4G/5G.

We have recently built a stunning patio area which overlooks the fields that surround La Croix - perfect to relax, read a good book and to socialise and enjoy the local food and wine.

As you walk in the front door the lounge oozes character with its stunning fireplace with log burner. The lounge is equipped with TV, Bluetooth speaker, DVD, CD and Wii games console - everything there to keep children happy whilst you relax.

The downstairs shower room is a standout feature with its walk in rainfall shower.

All 3 bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and all have room for a cot if required.

We love the peace, quiet and relaxation that the area surrounding the house provides. It really is a great place to get away from it all but also a great location from which to explore all the attractions of the Loire Valley.

It is located on the edge of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Natural Park and forest and only 25 minutes drive from Saumur and 20 minutes from the vineyards of Bourgueil.

We had a wonderful week in La Croix. Well appointed, rustic charm and comfortable, with everything you need for a great stay. The garden patio is ideal with a couple of friendly horses nearby. I would highly recommend a stay in this property.

Fantastic house in a lovely area

We spent a lovely week here at the end of July. We enjoyed walking, cycling, canoeing and paddleboarding as well as visits to Saumur and Chinon. The house is fantastic, very well equipped in a peaceful location. We especially enjoyed the table tennis table and boules in the garden!

Even better than the pictures! It was much more spacious than we were expecting, really well equipped and a lovely peaceful location. Comfortable beds and sitting area. I loved the garden, nicely planted and lots of different areas to sit in at different times of the day. Plenty of things to do near Saumur, and if you are prepared to travel a bit further in the opposite direction - a whole host of chateau's and gardens to explore.

Lovely house in a beautiful, peaceful location Very well equipped everywhere apart from the garden chairs which were broken so not enough for all 6 of us to sit and eat outside. A brilliant location for visiting chateaux, swimming lakes and wine-tasting at the caves in Saumur. Darren gave really useful information and recommendations for visits in the local area.

Wonderful experience!

Well, what a wonderful time we have had in France! We all fell in love with the location and the Ashley/Holloway party thought La Croix was a beautiful home - it really was hard to leave and we will hold the memories of a good time for years. Thank you for your directions, instructions and advice - all were welcome and very useful and we were able to get about with ease and find all we needed. Thank you again for a wonderful week.

Karakteristieke ruime woning in rustige omgeving op het platteland. Helaas niet veel te beleven in de omgeving (zeker niet voor kinderen). Woning van alles voorzien. Bovenetage wel heel erg warm bij buitentemp boven de 25 graden. Woning schoon opgeleverd (behalve inventaris keuken). Prettige, snelle en adequate communicatie met eigenaar. PS WIFI verbinding te traag/ instabiel om er iets nuttigs mee te kunnen doen.

La Croix was a comfortable and cosy gite with a beautiful garden. You can live the love and dedication that went into the restauration of this Gite. The weather wasn’t the best - like in most places in Europe - but the close vicinity of chateaux, towns at the WII made for a great week!

Belle propriété au calme et au milieu des châteaux de la Loire

La maison que Louise et Peter ont rénovée il y a dix ans est située en pleine campagne. Calme et sommeil paisible sont garantis. La maison est spacieuse et bien équipée. Elle est idéalement placée au beau milieu des mille et une merveilles à visiter dans la région (les splendides châteaux, les villes d’art et d’histoire) et aussi très proche des vignobles de Bourgueil, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Chinon etc. Un très beau séjour et une excellente communication avec les propriétaires, très disponibles. Last minute break

We have just spent a wonderful week in this beautifully renovated cottage. Very spacious and full of character, whilst retaining the charm of the cottage, all modern amenities are at hand. Located in amongst the local fruit farms and forests of the area we loved plotting our destination for the next day, enjoying our aperitif in the garden , watching the sun set. We were never short of somewhere to explore with Chateaux, markets and lovely little towns in abundance,all within very reasonable drive times. Due to work commitments we needed to book somewhere from Friday to Friday and this was no problem, Louise was extremely accommodating and all my communications and concerns were dealt with immediately. We would highly recommend LaCroix, it gave us everything we hoped for and more. Thank you Louise and Peter.

La Croix is owned by Peter, Louise and of course our two adult children Ellen and Matt. We had been talking about buying a holiday home for many years before finally taking the plunge and buying La Croix. Our plans, though, never included buying a falling down shack in the middle of rural France, with limited knowledge of the language! This is however, what we did and with the help of friends, family and an excellent builder we have managed to restore La Croix and turn it into a fantastic holiday home which we love visiting! We have now successfully hosted guests for over 10 years and with so much to see and do in the area our guests are still introducing us to new things all the time. We love hearing where they have visited and we often add these to our list of things to do when we next visit. We have continued to improve and update La Croix since the initial renovation and it certainly is a fantastic place to stay. So relaxing yet with lots to do if you want it!

Why they chose this property

We had enjoyed many holidays in the Loire before buying La Croix and loved the peace and tranquility of the area. The area is full of great places to visit and there is nothing better than star gazing late into the night enjoying a glass or two of wine.

What makes this property unique

La Croix has lots of character yet has all the modern facilities that you expect from a holiday gite. It is a perfect place to unwind and relax both in the Winter and Summer months - sat in front of the cosy log burner in Winter or sat on the patio looking over the wheat or sunflower fields in the summer! Perfect!
