At Sunset Central YOU ARE SO CLOSE YOU CAN FEEL THE OCEAN! As soon as you walk into SUNSET CENTRAL you take a deep breath and start to smile. The view is as good or better than imagined. Then you open the doors and the sound of waves magnifies. SUNSET CENTRAL IS as nice as you hoped for. Why?

The old Cliché, "VIEW, VIEW, VIEW". We have of one of the BEST OCEAN VIEWS in Maui. You don't think about it but "NOT" having a pool or upper floor lanai railing, or anything in your ocean view, makes it as good as it gets. The view from inside the condo is great and the view from our lanai is even better. We have the perfect combination for a ROMANTIC stay. A quiet and quaint location. Off the main road. Stunning views, and soothing Pacific Ocean surround sound.

There is NO EQUAL to being GROUND FLOOR directly on the ocean. Carry your chair 25 feet to the small ocean sea wall and watch a 180 degree sunset at the sea wall. Does the drink you brought with you need a refill or you forgot your camera? No problem. A few steps back and you have it. Don't want to move 25 feet to the ocean edge? Just watch a sunset, sunrise, or the ocean from the very large lanai. The lanai has a ceiling fan for added comfort during the warmer months.

We have steps with access to our semi private beach for swimming and snorkeling. Please note that the stairs to the beach are less than 90 feet to the North. Access to the ocean is easy most of the time. Some of our photos show a large beach. During 2024 the tide changes resulted in the loss of the large beach most of the time. The last three photos show the more common size of the beach at low tide. There are times where there is no access to the beach, or only beach at low tide.

SUNSET CENTRAL faces directly West providing WONDERFUL SUNSET shows. During the year the sunsets move back and forth over the ocean from the islands of Lanai and Molokai.

The PICTURES, VIDEO, and RENTER COMMENTS tell it all. Please note that the video is over 15 years old. The photos show the numerous upgrades since then. Once selecting a pic, click on it for full size close up.

DECOR: Our goal was to make the family/dining room feel as large as possible even though it is larger than usual for Maui. Our tv/stereo and our dining table set are on one wall. The sofa sleeper and recliner are set up on the other wall. The result is a large open area in the middle of the room. We think we accomplished our goal.

SERVICE: We only have one condo to manage so we give 100% of our attention to you. Even though we can accommodate 4 people in our condo we only allow a maximum of 2. This is to minimize the wear and tear. This also helps us to make sure our condo is in good shape when you arrive. We have a large separate bedroom with a CA king size bed. A separate bedroom is nice compared to a studio that has a hotel type feeling. We do have a queen size sofa sleeper in the living room.

We have a portable A/C in the bedroom. The add cost to use is $7.00 for the days/nights used. Renters should let us know if the A/C was used and how many days after their stay. We do not charge until the end of the trip and only for the nights/days of use. We do not agree with charging for A/C for nights not used or if not used at all.

POOL: Our pool is not oceanfront. See our photo. The pool would not be the main reason for renting our condo.

We enjoy sharing our condo and guests having a wonderful time.

This was such a wonderful location! The one bedroom home had everything we needed, was very clean and the host was very responsive and helpful. Parking was also very convenient. The condo is indeed, right on the water, just a few steps down to the beach. We enjoyed watching the beautiful sunsets and the sea turtles every day. There are grills on the property also which was very convenient. If we ever go back to Maui, this is where we would stay!

We loved the location. The condo is exactly as described. Kitchen could use some updates, but exactly as expected and depicted. Only issue is there were some ants in the kitchen likely from previous visitors leaving food/ dirty dishes in the sink, but there was a bait station on the counter to address the issue.

A rather pleasant ocean view from the west end of Maui. You can see cloud covered Molokai across the way. An occasional sea turtle pops up its head as it passes by. The condo has everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Overall this was glorious and I would consider to stay again. I was slightly disappointed that there was no beach to lay out on and had to travel to nearby beaches. I spoke to some full time residents and they did mention that as the years pass, the beach shrinks. there is sand, you can see it and at some small points throughout the day you can walk out to it, but spending any real time sun bathing was not possible. Make sure that you are okay with only AC in the bedroom. It can get hot in Maui and on those mid to upper 80's days, it is very warm in the condo.

The description of the property doesn’t due it justice. It really is incredible. To open the doors of the lanai and walk right up to the water was like nothing else. Everything that you could need or ask for was there for you to use. The owners were very easy to get a hold of and great to work with. Would definitely go back.

A beautiful condo with an amazing view! The sunsets every night were beautiful! We watched turtles right along the breakwall every day. The beach is very convenient for a swim or snorkel. The condo itself was clean and comfortable!

Beautiful view of both Molokai and Lanai from patio. Clean and comfortable condo, and the kitchen and bathroom were stocked with all we needed. Short walking distance to beach other than the small one on the property, and the ABC store. Beautiful sunsets.

What a great location for a home base to explore Maui! Everything you need to feel at home. A fully equipped kitchen with all utensils you can imagine to prep quick meals. Proximity to stores and restaurants. Walk out of the patio and if you take too many steps you are in the water! Turtles snacking on the algae by the shore and very cool snorkeling a hundred yards out. I’d definitely rent it again!!!

We loved this cozy gem. The best part is during whale season, if you look in the distance, you can see them breaching! Every sunset was breathtaking, and you can't beat the location if you tried.

Nice little spot right on the water. Older property that could use some work but that’s common for Hawaii in my experience. You can hear the upstairs neighbors stomping around which can be annoying But overall well stocked, clean, and really nice views

We are sorry you had rude guests above you. Neighbors above us stomping is annoying. We usually might hear it for a short while but not much. I wish you would have called me or talked to them to be more considerate. We will start advising our future guests to call me if their are excessively loud neighbors above them. Our complex is older but it is right on the ocean, 25 to 30 feet from it with 100% ocean view. Newer complexes or hotels are much farther away. We do not have all the extras a large newer complex has such as 4 Seasons or Hilton etc. Those newer facilities cost 4 or more times as much to stay in. This is a place for those who want to primarily just stay right on the ocean, watch it, and listen to it. Respectfully, Ray and Connie

We (Ray and Connie) are from California. We love the outdoors and we especially love water and the sound of water from rivers, waterfalls, the ocean and even when it rains. When we like something we tend to keep coming back. Having a condo in West Maui is an example. Not a bad routine. We know you will love Maui too. Sharing our condo and hearing how much our guests like it is a benefit we did not know would come with our purchase. See for yourself by reading our renter comments.

Why they chose this property

Connie and I (Ray) visited Maui from California for the first time about 20 years ago. Every time we visited we spent some time looking at condos. The question was, Where to buy? South Maui (Kihei), or West Maui? The first requirement was to be right on the ocean. We preferred the famous West Maui side but there were very few available in our price range due to its popularity. Finally after several trips to Maui we came upon one in West Maui that was so close to the ocean and romantic that it would not let us go. The rest is history. Now we have a nice home away from home that we get to visit a couple of times a year.

What makes this property unique

Our condo is unique due to having one of the best views in Maui, our proximity to the ocean, our beach access, the small size of complex, being off the main road, and the quaint, quiet feel you get when staying there. The view right out to the ocean is almost 180 degrees with no pool or complex lounge seating in the way is unmatched. Although we have a large condo, over 600 square feet and could easily sleep 4 people, we only allow 2 as a maximum. The result is less wear and tear on the condo and greater assurance that it will be in great shape when you arrive.
