We love this bungalow the peace and quiet makes a relaxing holiday. The surrounding area is full of lovely villages and towns with fresh local produce.
We’ve been coming to this property for a number of years and always look forward to it, the peace and tranquility of the location and the area in general.
Quiet and peaceful, wildlife friendly garden, good for local towns of Boston and Spalding. Plenty of bird life in the nature reserves nearby. Delightful original features took us back to our childhoods.

Peaceful
Lovely peaceful location. Beds clean and comfortable. Property could do with renovating/redecorating.
Just the kind of property I like. It is quite dated, but so what. Great, quiet location within reasonable distance of lots of places. Great value to boot.
We’ve been staying at this peacefully quiet bungalow on and off since 2003 we’ve enjoyed exploring other counties in England since this time but always find ourselves returning to this property every couple of years for its character, peacefulness and location. A very relaxing break!

Cosy, comfortable and well-equipped
A friendly, hospitable place with a wonderful garden and extremely comfortable beds and chairs (in the house, that is.) All necessary bits and bobs for a relaxed stay and a call from the owners upon arrival was appreciated and welcoming. Ideal for families of all ages and interests. Highly recommended. Thank you.
Lovely old fashioned bungalow with fantastic mature gardens that provided much needed shade during our stay which coincided with the recent heatwave. Goodness knows how we would have coped without being able to sit out in the shade! Surprisingly peaceful & private despite being on the edge of a large village.
Overall very nice bungalow in a lovely quiet and peaceful area, perfect for dog walkers or those who just want to relax. The garden is beautiful and well maintained, as well as being very private, the bungalow is comfortable and homely. The shower could do with being updated, very weak pressure and not very warm, found it slightly odd that the french doors leading to the garden were chained close.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
This bungalow is in a lovely area but would benefit from a complete renovation. The garden and orchard could be beautiful but it is very overgrown and neglected. For anyone who wants to get back to nature it is just ideal.

somercote stay
Expensive. advertised hot tub but we must have misunderstood there wasnt one, and think the amneties meant a bath tub, very old decor like it or hate it i didnt like it, smelt old and damp garden furnture ready to colapse on you as seemed rotten . I couldnt wait to leave the area made up for it though close to some beautiful beaches and nature reserves which was why we stayed in the area, sorry but wouldnt stay again
On entering the property you are welcomed with a musty damp smell and when you start to look around you realise why MOULD! Despite previous reviews about the mould on this property (which we did not see before booking) clearly nothing has been done about it. We cut our stay short staying only one night which was not a pleasant experience. The property is old and outdated which is fine if you want to step back in to 1950 (which is when I think the photos on the profile for this property were taken) but being that unclean is not acceptable. The shower does not really work and the mattress in main bedroom is Undescribable. I can not put photos on this site but have emailed them to vrbo who I have to say have been great and refunded us, we emailed the photos to the owners who offered us a gesture of good of £200 (so I guess they know the issues with the letting) that they said they posted 6 days ago but we have not received it yet.

Disappointing
Beautiful serene location and garden. The property did not smell pleasant and was too dirty to enjoy.
There were no window keys and only two windows could be opened!
Would benefit from a refresh/redecoration and a thorough deep clean.
It has such potential to make a comfortable and desirable let.
this is our third stay at Somercotes and we love it. very spacious, comfy, peaceful and with a lovely garden. well situated for visiting plenty of places in south Lincolnshire. we will be back!
We found the bungalow spacious, cosy and comfortable and located in a very quiet area. It was the perfect base for visiting family in the area. It was very well equipped. The only criticism in terms of the cleanliness was the cobwebs. The Christmas decorations and the Welcome Pack were a lovely touch too.

About the host
Hosted by Dr and Mrs J V Sharp
We live near Oxford, but have welcomed visitors to our holiday property in Sutterton for many years.
Why they chose this property
I was brought up in the village, and many of our visitors tell us how much they also enjoy the wide open skies and landscapes of the flat Lincolnshire fenland farms. It's an ideal area for walking, cycling, bird watching, stately home visits or for garden enthusiasts.
It's in a peaceful and relaxing location, but a good base for expeditions exploring the local area.
What makes this property unique
The large and secluded garden surrounding the property is always appreciated by our visitors.
I enjoy cooking, and the bungalow is well equipped with crockery and kitchen equipment, but there's also a wide choice of places to eat out either in the village or in the surrounding area if you don't feel like cooking!
