Cosy cottage in glorious countryside -sleeps 4 ( +small child). Dog Friendly.
Available Tues 2nd -Fri 12th June; Mon 6th july to Tues 14th July; Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th July ; Fri 31st July to Fri 7th August ; Mon 14th sept to Friday 2nd October. Possibly available 15th to 24th August (ask if you might be interested) Red squirrels, interesting bird-life, riverside walks, nearby Monroes to climb. For larger groups, my sister lives in the adjoining cottage and has a self-contained double en suite room on a b&b basis.
The property is old fashioned. It is a 1950s ex-farm workers cottage with metal frame windows in all but the front bedroom ( hope to upgrade to double glazing late 2026) and efficient central heating plus a stove keeps the place cosy. Cottage is a cosy ex-farm workers cottage only a mile from town. It is a semi-detached 2 bedroom ( sleeps4 +small child ) property on East Lochlane Farm, with the farm buildings now over 1 mile away at West Lochlane. It is set on the low Comrie Road/Strowan Road in beautiful countryside with excellent views, 2 miles from Crieff High Street, (1 mile from the bottom of the town where there is a bus stop for buses to Dunblane and Stirling and there is the Crieff Visitor Centre) and 5 miles from the lovely village of Comrie. It is surrounded by fabulous walking country with red squirrels and plentiful bird-life in the garden and about the place including often birds of prey (Red Kite, Buzzards) Canada Geese etc seen without leaving the garden. There are various bike trails, bike hire 3 miles away at Comrie Croft, gorgeous gardens 2.5 miles away at Drummond castle, opportunities for fishing (permits from Crieff Tourist Board) and golfing (courses abound), the local distillery, Innerpeffray Library and Chapel (5.5 miles), watersports on Loch Earn 12 miles away etc. Perth museum, arts centre and fabulous Scone palace, various castles ( Stirling, Doune, Blair etc). It is about 1 hour drive to Edinburgh and Glasgow (or park and ride at Dunblane or Bridge of Allan( excellent ice cream shop too), a glorious 2-3 hours drive (especially early morning thorugh Glencoe) to Oban for ferries to the Islands or why not have lunch at the Pier House with views to the inner hebridean islands. Good stops at the famous Green Welly stop and at Ballachulish. Also going in the other direction at Lochearnhead towards Callendar and the Trossachs (after driving up the side of the loch) Balquidder has Mhor 84 and its mother hotel at Monaichle Mhor might be worth a trip. As well as the Perth Concert Hall and Theatre there is a new museum with the stone of destiny on display. Drummond Gardens are 2 miles away and are gorgeous in all seasons (formal, used in TV shows such as Outlander as a stand - in for Versailles - and also recently featured on Gardeners World episode 1) Scone Palace is just outside Perth, as is Scone horse racing course. There are castles within easy reach - Stirling, Blair, Glamis etc - and of course many distilleries. Cultybraggan camp just outside Comrie has a small museum with limited hours and near to that is the Auchingarrich wildlife centre with much for the younger child to explore. The only 2 x 2 *michelin restaurants in Scotland are within 10 miles at Glenturret Distillery (3 miles away ) and at Gleneagles hotel. There are other good restaurants in Crieff (G's, Delivino's, Craobh) Comrie (De'il's cauldron) and Coorie Inn in Comrie has fabulous new owners (previously at Gleneagles) - only 3 miles away. There is also a good pizza place (limited opening hours) in the small village of Muthill (and in 2025 a new one one in Crieff too, and new bakery and patisseries )good "chippy" in Crieff, also Gurkhas, well reviewed thai restaurant both in Crieff. There are hills to climb, gorgeous walks locally (Lady Mary's, glenturret, glenledknock, sma glen etc) and further afield; golf courses a-plenty, cinemas in Aberfeldy by Loch Tay (another pretty drive) , MacRobert Centre Stirling, Perth of course (hourly buses from the central square in Crieff)

So sorry the cottage didn’t meet your expectations.
Most people who stay - family and holidaymakers alike - love it.
I keep the prices low so that people will understand that It is an old farm workers cottage and isn’t fancy but just a cosy older style cottage.
The windows are mostly the original crittal windows, some warped so they only close in the slightly open position. Ventilation is good in my opinion, but I appreciate that some people don’t like to ventilate that much.
There is efficient central heating and a stove and an open fire so the place is easy to keep cosy.
I hope to upgrade the windows one of these days not least to reduce the ever increasing cost of energy.
The over bath shower is not a power shower. The bath is a nice deep cast iron one though.
And yes there was a small leak recently so there is a small stain on the (now dry) day living room ceiling.
The property is not damp.
Also the TV has sky including sky cinema which we find adequate though apart from at Christmas most people don't watch that much TV when staying. and of course these days there is always the possibility of watching or casting from ones phone
Sorry again that my cottage didn’t meet your expectations.
All the best

While the cottage itself was nice, we arrived to a cold cottage and were without radiant heat for 2 of the 5 nights of our stay. While there was firewood made available, we could not stay up all night tending the fire and it did nothing to warm both bedrooms. An electric heater was present which did not work so another was left for us which helped warm one room.We were unable to consistently contact the host about this as she was away traveling (which we knew before booking) and relied on her sister who lived next door. Her sister refused to step literally one step into the kitchen to see the thermostat control because my mother unfortunately had covid, despite me making very clear that we were fully masked indoors and she was welcome to mask as well. Not sure why it was such an issue since the boiler was located outside of the living space in a separate area from us, but eventually her brother came to look at it and somehow it magically started working? When I asked Ginny if she could refund a portion of our stay she begrudgingly refunded 10% claiming that it was our fault for arriving with covid and we had to "suffer the consequences". As an immune compromised person who takes extreme care with my wellbeing I was offended by the responses I received from Ginny and on that alone would not consider staying here again.

it was unfortunate that we couldn't come in immediately (as your mother had Covid) to turn on the central heating which hadn't come on automatically. my sister and brother both live a few metres away.
Fortunately it wasn't cold, the heating had been on for a couple of hours that afternoon, there is a stove, open fire, electric blanket, hot water bottles, and an electric heater was immediately supplied.
The outside boiler was checked in the morning - nothing wrong with it sothere was always plenty hot water.
My normal expert would also have come same day to check the indoor controls for you but as they had a very young baby they weren't able to come in the house with your mother having covid.
The heating came on before my 2nd guy came.
the heating was left on constantly instead of the timer until I had the thermostat control replaced
I happily offered you and repaid a 10%, whilst explaining i didn't think a larger refund was due as it was unusual circumstances with us unaware that one of your party was arriving with COVID!

We stayed at Honeysuckle Cottage for 1 week and absolutely loved our stay. It is a charming roomy cottage with a lovely back garden. Our host, Ginny, could not have been more helpful prior to our stay with detailed (lyrical) messages that made us feel so welcome and also ensured we were familiar with the area before we got there. When at the cottage, our hosts sister and her husband, that live next door, could not have been more helpful in providing local knowledge and supplying us with the best tasting veggies one can ever get. They all played a big part in ensuring that our family had a fantastic stay. We made memories we'll never forget (the nearby location for the river dip will not be forgotten). I'd highly recommend a stay at Honeysuckle Cottage. We hope to make it back in the not too distant future.
The cottage was delightful and a very relaxed placed to spend time. It was easy with our young family, and a great space for kids tiki play. We would definitely like to stay again
Fishing nearby and location was excellent, even for partners who visited local attractions. Very comfortable and well equipped. Nice welcoming pack of local bread, butter and shortbread! Highly recommended!

Many thanks Adrian. My sister next door does make excellent shortbread (and other things). It's beginning to be a thing - several recent visitors have been there to fish the Lochlane and Laggan beats which are so close to the property..
The cottage was a great find. Full of character, set in tranquil surroundings with great outdoor space. The cottage was really comfortable with everything that you could need provided. The village of Crieff is about 1 mile away with some very nice walks and eateries. Comrie Croft also really worth a visit for mountain bike hire and trails. The weather was also fabulous. Ginny, our host, was easily contactable and communication was great. Thanks so much.
Comfortable and Cosy Cottage in Beautiful Perthshire
This was a lucky find. There had been a cancellation and we were able to book on the Tuesday for the upcoming Friday. And how lucky we were...
The cottage is beautiful, cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. The extra special touches of a bottle of wine, fresh local eggs, butter and bread, and a basket full of logs made it even better.
The neighbours (family of the owner), had also dropped in a tin of homemade shortbread which our two girls (and we) loved.
The area is perfect for getting outdoors. We cycled to Loch Earn, climbed up past The Diel's Cauldron and walked along the river from Crieff.
We would definitely love to visit again.
Lovely property full of character. Perfect hosts and great location for cycling and birdwatching
My husband found the Honeysuckle cottage for our last minute holiday. What a gem, full of character and personal touches, spacious, well equipped and in very nice location. Delicious shortbread, beautiful flowers and lots of other goodies on arrival from our host Ginny and kind neighbours Lynne&Victor.
Birds nesting in the back garden provided us with daily entertainment. Massive dresser in the dining room
Great views over the pastures and fields, curious cows, lovely sunsets, nice cycle along the farmland and river all the way to Crieff and good weather were a treat. Plenty walks around, birds of prey, deer and other wildlife to be spotted.
Thank you for our lovely holiday.
Fabulous little cottage feels in the middle of nowhere but close to the village
Easy to book, very easy to deal with owner, Idea location for many tourist sites, also some beautiful little unknown places right on the doorstep. Would definitely use again.

Sehr schön ist in nächster Nähe (circa 2-3 km) Drummond Castle and Garden.

Angela Many thanks for the review - translation below.
In the cottage there is a map of walks direct from the door, circular walks via the river, or up to the top of Torleum - though most do include a very short section on a paved road. And of course there are lovely longer walks for which a car or bikes are needed to get to the start of off road routes.
"Nice, very well equipped accommodation in a beautiful and quiet location.
The cottage is cozy, very clean and above the normal expected very well equipped. The beautiful location was a bit clouded for us by the fact that there were not many opportunities for walking in the immediate vicinity, if you did not want to walk on paved roads, i. you absolutely need a car. Very nice is in close proximity (about 2-3 km) Drummond Castle and Garden. Very easy accessibility from Perth, Scone Palace, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Trossachs and Blair Castle as well as Dunkled and over the mountains on rustic road to Kenmore Loch Tay and Aberfeldy"
Cheers

Sorry that the lack of a microwave was missed.
There's not really an obvious space for one as the kitchen isn't large. Also the cooker is new so the oven heats up instantly, so hopefully not too much longer to prepare food.
Anyway glad you enjoyed the cottage and the countryside surrounding it.
Best wishes

A few days at honeysuckle cottage
The cottage was really nice. We were only there for a few days and it was perfect for our stay.
It was clean, the beds were comfortable. It had a lovely wood burning stove and plenty of dry logs available.
We were given a bag with bread, butter, milk, eggs and beautiful jam- even went to the bakery and bought some to take home.

Lovely weekend away
Myself and five friends had a lovely time over a long weekend at Ginny's cottage. All communication before our arrival was clear and lots of information was provided about the house and the area. The cottage has a really nice feel to it and the location is very peaceful, whilst still very close to Crieff and all the shops/restaurants you might need. Would definitely recommend!

Brilliant October break
Just returned from Bluebell Cottage after a wonderful holiday. My family had the best time in this charming cosy home. We took our border collie with us who loved the beautiful walks and (lucky us) fantastic weather.we arrived to find a welcome pack which was great and I must say the attention to detail for the visitor is excellent. Crieff has great resteraunts which we tried and were really pleased with them. We would recommend Bluebell cottage to anyone who loves the beautiful Creiff countryside. We will be back.

Perfect Holiday Cottage
We stayed in Bluebell Cottage for a week in July and only wished we could have stayed for longer.
The Cottage was as described and the location was ideal, close enough to Crieff and yet surrounded by peaceful countryside. It was clean and comfortable, with a real homely feel. The Cottage had everything we needed and more. The owner had thought of everything and left a very generous welcome pack. We spent a lot of time in the garden as the weather was so good and enjoyed the great views. I can definitely recommend this property as an ideal base to explore he area.

Excellent Location
I had a really lovely week at Bluebell Cottage. The cottage is bright and fresh. I loved it in the morning time, especially. I had two dogs with me and I was able to feel at home with them with plenty of room for their space and mine! We had lots of great walks along the river between, and beyond, Crieff and Comrie and into the hills behind. We all went home fit and refreshed. I got to know the regular dog walkers in Crieff very quickly. Great café in the park for the end of a good walk. I loved the garden and had good weather to be able to enjoy it. Thank you for foody bits which made the start of the holiday even easier. Thank you. Loved it. Hope to be back.

About the host
Hosted by Virginia Halley
The cottage is on the farm where I grew up, and my family make up a high percentage of the neighbours. I visit frequently, but have lived down south for some years.
The property has been in the family since it was built for one of the dairymen on the farm, which at that time had a large dairy herd. The farm is now a mixed mainly arable farm.
Why they chose this property
The countryside is wonderful, with great walks, hills to climb, cycling, water-sports etc, and many attractions within 30 to 60 min drive. Gorgeous 2-3 hour drives to the West coast, Oban etc. under 2 hours to the beautiful Fife coast and seaside towns.
Red kite and buzzards circle overhead, frequent red squirrel sightings, many deer about the farm and beaver on the river - where there are dippers and you may be lucky and see a kingfisher.
As well as the usual garden birds - great tits, blue tits, coal tits and sometimes long-tailed tits, sparrows, robins, blackbirds, goldfinches, chaffinches, occasional bullfinches (there on 2nd May 22) dunnock, siskin, yellowhammer, wren, swifts in season, pied wagtails and frequently wood-pecker come to the feeders in the garden.
The road outside the cottage is busier than it used to be, but still a fairly quiet road.
What makes this property unique
The area is very beautiful and the cottage is well placed for visits with Stirling Castle and Bannockburn, and Scone Palace both around 1/2 hour drive away; Edinburgh and Glasgow just over 1 hour drive away, and the spectacular drive (especially early morning) through Glencoe to Fort William and the West Coast and Islands, or up the Great Glen takes around 2 to 2.5 hours - excluding stops and diversions. Also the pretty fishing villages of the Fife coast and St Andrews are around 1.5 hours drive away. The drive up the sma glen to the pretty small village of Dunkeld and on to Pitlochry with it's theatre and plentiful attractions takes about an hour, or there's a a 45 minute drive to Aberfeldy, for the Birks of Aberfeldy (not just a Rabbie Burns song!) but a majestic walk taking in the falls, followed by a visit to the re-invigorated Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy, or there is a monthly market Or on a trip to Callendar and/or Balquidder (Rob Roy country) visit Mhor 84 (restaurant, cafe etc open all day in Balquidder) or it's sister Mhor Bread - a cafe and bakery at 8 Main Street Callendar,
