The Neighborhood:
Adventure awaits on Pleasure Island. Exploring the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, home to incredible coastal wildlife, or take the scenic car ferry across the Cape Fear River for a relaxing visit to the charming town of Southport where quaint streets are filled with unique antique shops and galleries. History lovers can walk the scenic, live‑oak‑lined trails of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, where Civil War bunkers still stand. Nature enthusiasts will love the island’s two state‑managed coastal preserves: Carolina Beach State Park, home to rare Venus flytraps found naturally only in this region, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, known for pristine beaches, marshes, and wildlife viewing. Both offer beautiful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, and spotting pelicans or even nesting loggerhead sea turtles.
After a day outdoors, unwind on your private balcony with a sunset cocktail, or head into town to explore the best of Carolina Beach. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, ranked one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S. by Food & Wine, features classic seaside fun—local restaurants, an arcade, ice cream shops, bars, and the famous Britt’s Donuts. In summer, enjoy weekly fireworks and live entertainment, carnival rides, family nights, and Flamingo BINGO. Off‑season brings signature island events like the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival. Pleasure Island offers something unforgettable for every traveler—adventure, relaxation, and the perfect coastal escape.
Getting Around:
Getting around Pleasure Island is a breeze! While parking can be limited in peak season, especially in popular spots, paid private or public parking is available. We recommend exploring Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on foot or by bike – they're super walkable and bike-friendly. You'll find safe pedestrian and bike routes, including the Island Greenway. Renting a golf cart or bike is easy, too, with several local rental companies. Golf carts are one of the easiest ways to cruise around the island. Rentals are simple to arrange, and once you're behind the wheel, you can zip along any road posted 35 mph or under.

The only thing that was inconvenient was not having direct beach access. While unit is on the beach, have to go out front, down steps, through parking lot and onto beach access walkway. Wasn’t easy for our adult special needs son, so we only had him out on the beach 3 times the entire week.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the beach access was inconvenient for your family, particularly for your adult special needs son. We understand how important easy access to the beach is for a relaxing stay. We hope that despite this inconvenience, you enjoyed your time at our property. If you decide to stay with us again, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Thank you for staying with Sea Coast Rentals!
We loved our stay at your condo. We spent the mornings at the beach using the nearby beach access and at Fort Fisher Beach. The community pool, both indoor and outdoor, provided a fun place for our two -year old to get safe swimming experience. Nearby Fort Fisher Aquarium (reservations required) and Carolina Beach State Park were a nice break from the water. We found carnivorous plants on the hiking trails. To cap it off, the local fire station welcomed our toddler, inviting him to sit inside of a fire truck. We would love to stay here again.

Ann, we're so happy to hear you guys enjoyed your trip, it sounds like you really took advantage of much our beautiful island has to offer! We hope to see you all again, thank you for the review!
We had a relaxing, wonderful stay at the beach. We also enjoyed the pool and sitting on the deck in the evenings.
There was an issue with the cleanliness of the unit- there were cigarette packs, underwear and other items left in drawers, and the dishes in the cupboards and the dishwasher were not clean. We did let management know. Overall, did not distract from the lovely ocean view and family time.

Hi Laura! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay in Ocean Dunes. We take our cleanliness very seriously and did report this to housekeeping management. Thank you so much for your kind review, and we hope to see you again soon!
The condo was very nice. The furnishings were great. The location was perfect for us. It was not as clean as we would've liked but it wasn't really dirty either other than the floor of the balcony which was very dirty (or possibly even moldy). One of the blankets had something gross on it. I'm not sure what the policy is for washing blankets but it seems like they should at least be checked if not washed every time. There were no cabinets to put food because they were filled with dishes. It would be nice to keep one cabinet free for food. We ended up with it all over the countertops.

There were numerous roaches which made my family very uncomfortable. The power also went out at 1:30 in the morning and the power company couldn't find the address. It would be good to post the address for the power account on the refrigerator if you plan to rent it out so that help can find the location.

Amazing
Me and my wife(newly weds) got married and honey moon'd at the ocean dunes. Had professional pictures done there as well (highly recommend Kam Goodrich photography). Loved our stay loved the view. Only thing I didn't like about the stay was we had to bring our own sheets and the check out was way to early. 10? 12 I could understand but other than that was a good trip and a bit to pricey.
