About this property

Seaside cottage with sea and harbour views: Sunday check in for 1 week stays

Bank Cottage is a cosy and sunny fisherman's cottage up a short flight of steps from the footpath. From the front of the house you look out over the harbour to Filey Brigg and Flanborough Head and at the back, up to the castle. Arranged over 3 floors, on the ground floor, the cottage has a small lounge(snug) with sea views, dining room which will seat up to 6 people, a small kitchen with pretty much everything you should need to rustle up meals, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. You will find a ground floor cloakroom off the kitchen. Up a flight of (quite steep stairs, common in these sorts of cottages) you will find a double bedroom with sea views and a large single or small twin bedroom plus a bathroom with walk in shower and bath. Up a further flight of quite steep stairs you will find another double bedroom which has a small en suite bathroom and the second lounge/ TV room with panoramic sea views right across to Flanborough. The property has a small rear yard and a shared terrace runs in front of the house where you can sit and admire the views. Whilst recently renovated, we have retained the character of the original cottage through the style of decoration and furnishings. There is gas central heating and two electric showers. Parking is on the street using the permits provided.

Guests are advised that the cottage has steps up to it with an unfenced terrace and then inside - steep stairs common in these properties and so is not suitable for people with mobility issues or small mobile children.

This is a great location for exploring Scarborough, the rest of the coastline and the North Yorkshire Moors. There is always lots to see and do in Scarborough including great festivals which are often held slightly out of season. We donate 5% of our annual net rental to Scarborough lifeboat fund raising.

We are a family of four with a grown up daughter and son. My sister moved to Scarborough Old Town some years ago and we all fell in love with Scarborough and North Yorkshire generally.

Why they chose this property

Having fallen in love with Scarbrough, we decided that this is where we would move to, once our final youngster had flown the nest. When we saw this cottage and the fantastic views, we took the plunge and bought it. The rest is history!
So before we move up we let it to guests.

What makes this property unique

We love the fabulous views, the ability to simply park the car and walk everywhere. There is always something going on, even out of season. We always visit the theatre which is fabulous, enjoy live music, many of the festivals where we can, the cricket up at scarborough cricket club (20 minutes walk away) and often eat out very inexpensively. We also like the coast walks both north ad south of Scarborough.
