You could have a lovely holiday here but keep your party to 6 maximum and don't use the attic room in summer!!
The area is beautiful but the garden is surprisingly noisy as there is a lot of traffic through the village The three main bedrooms are super. The pool is well shaded and the outdoor dining area is good but cramped

I'm very disappointed to have only received a 3-star review from this guest as almost all of my previous reviews have been 5-star. It is unfortunate that this guest was visiting during an extreme heat wave and the portable air conditioning unit we had just put in the attic room was not fully plumbed in. It is working very well now. Being made of stone, the main part of the house stays very cool during the summer. Also, we have had up to 10 guests in the past, who have found the house very comfortable. I would agree that the house is probably best suited to 6 to 8 adults plus up to 2 to 4 children as the outside table can get a bit cramped with 10 adults but there are other tables available outside and ample room on the terrace to spread out. The traffic noise that the guests heard were farm vehicles going through the village because of the harvest. For the most part, the village is very quiet and peaceful.
We had an excellent stay. The rooms and beds are good, het kitchen well equiped and the location (on the town square) great.
The owner was very communicative and pleasant to us - even after we managed to accidentally destroy the kettle (sorry deborah!), so that is a big plus as well.
The only real drawback I can think of with this accomodation is that the nearest store / bakery are about 45 min walk (but a 6 min drive),
A charming and beautifully furnished historic property, set in the heart of a classic French village, and right next to the church and square. The garden is an oasis - filled with roses and lavender and is very special at night with all the fairy lights. The pool provided a lovely central point which was very well used by all. The spacious house and garden offered super opportunities for the children to play hide & seek and treasure hunts!Altogether a really super place for fun and relaxation

We are surprised and disappointed by this guest's review. It is true that we forgot to put on the hot water before he and his party arrived (a genuine oversight) but corrected that as soon as the problem came to our attention. We contacted the guest immediately and apologised, which he seemed to accept at the time. As far as we know, all the appliances were in working order. and believe this comment related to the fact that we provided a filter coffee warming plate, rather than an electric coffee maker. We do not understand why he says there were dirty dishes. My husband and I were the last ones to stay in the house before these guests arrived and we certainly did not leave dirty dishes or utensils in the kitchen. Our housekeeper always cleans before guests arrive. She puts clean linens on the beds, leaves fresh towels, vacuums and washes the tile floors. We are also confused about the caller he refers to whom he claims acted in bad faith. The guest and I exchanged a few text messages while he was at the house. We know he spoke to a friend of ours about the hot water and the coffee maker but we cannot imagine that she would have been anything other than polite.
We pride ourselves on being good and responsible hosts and are deeply saddened to think that any of our guests were unhappy with their stay. We have always received good reviews, the majority being at least 4 stars, but mainly 5 stars. This was not the usual response.

Lovely property with everything you need for a relaxing holiday
We couldn't fault this property. Spotlessly clean and with everything you need including spacious kitchen, lounge and outside seating areas. Lovely bedrooms too. We were a party of 8 and had plenty of space. There are a good number of bathrooms and toilets too. Garden is lovely and pool is a good size and well maintained. Vieux is a small pretty town which in August at least has a weekly evening market on a Wednesday where you can buy local produce, wine and food. There is a town with bakery, well stocked shop, pharmacy etc about 3 miles away. A supermarket about 20 minutes away. There are lots of beautiful hilltop towns and villages (many with markets on certain days) to visit and wander around and Albi with it's stunning Cathedral is only half an hour away. Everything about the house is bigger than it looks in the pictures. None of us wanted to leave. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thanks for letting us stay!!
Beautiful house and gardens in peaceful village, would love to stay again!
My husband and I stayed here for a week with our three children and my parents as we were in the area for a family wedding and wanted a peaceful base for inbetween events. It was perfect, the house is beautiful and the gardens were stunning. We felt like we were in a fairytale! The children loved playing outside and also in the attic which they used as a playroom as it had plently of board games and toys to keep them entertained. Everything was perfectly clean (which is no mean feat in such an old house!) and the pool was spotless on our arrival. Check in and check out were nice and simple with a lockbox system, and communication with the owner was great throughout our stay. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need and there were plenty of towels and extra bedding etc. It was also very hamdy to have a washing machine during our stay. No phone signal (which is to be expected in this area) but WiFi available and English TV channels if required. There is a supermarket a short drive away and lots of lovely villages/towns to visit (by car) nearby if you wish to eat out. The locals were very welcoming, offering helpful advice and friendly conversation. We would 100% recommend staying here and hope to do so ourselves in the future!
The house is beautiful and well equipped. It has a lot of characters and located about 15 minutes from Gaillac. Deborah was great with everything and very accommodating.

About the host

We have owned this wonderful house in France now for almost 9 years and whilst we plan to use the house ourselves, we are keen to rent it out as well. The owners are a couple who live in the UK and the sister of one of the owners who lives in New York City. We bought the house from a British couple who owned it for over 15 years. We hope to make the home as comfortable for you as it is for us and to provide you with everything you need while on holiday.
Why they chose this property
We were just sitting down to have breakfast one morning while staying with some friends who have a house in Cordes-sur-Ciel in July, 2014. Our friend had gone to pick up some croissants and came back, announcing that he had just seen a beautiful house advertised in an estate agent's window. Next thing we knew, we had arranged to see the house and two days later, we put in an offer. We absolutely love the house and the region, with its fields of sunflowers and vineyards. The people are so friendly and the markets are amazing. A truly wonderful part of France.
What makes this property unique
The house is very easy to get to, being just 45 minutes drive from Toulouse airport. It's in a beautiful, quiet little village but is only 3km from Cahuzac-sur-Vere where you can buy all necessities; only 15 minutes from Gaillac and 20 minutes from the historic city of Albi. There is so much to do in the region - walking, cycling, canoeing, sightseeing (historic cave paintings), browsing through the antique shops and wonderful markets. On the other hand, the house offers all of the comforts of home with a private pool, WiFi, Netflix and all the things you might feel you can't live without while on holiday.
