This property is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom furnished townhouse with roof terrace, in an excellent position on the luxury golf resort of Parque da Floresta, 15/20 minutes drive from Lagos. It has fabulous views over the resort and golf course to the ocean beyond. We are a 3 minutes walk from the spectacular championship 18 hole golf course - All guests receive discounted golf green fees. At the Golf Clubhouse there is a top class restaurant and snacks are served at the Spikebar overlooking the 18th green where there is also free internet access. The resort also has driving range and golf practice facilities, floodlit tennis courts, a bowling green and horse riding is nearby. 1-2 minutes walk away are the heated outdoor pools (including children's pool) with bar and snacks. A few minutes away by car you have the wonderful sandy beach of Salema and small family restaurants. The village of Budens with a fully stocked supermarket (Inter Marche) is only 5 minutes drive There is an excellent Italian restaurant next to the Inter Marche which also does a takeaway pizza service.

We live in Blandford Forum in a very lovely part of Dorset, within easy reach of the coast. Both my wife and I have taken early retirement from professional occupations with the intention of spending more time relaxing in Portugal. We have two daughters who have finished University and now in the working community. As a family we are very sporty and both daughters are single figure golfers.

Why they chose this property

We first started visiting the Algarve in 2010 when we stayed at a friends house ironically two doors along from where we are. We fell in love with the area, with beaches and restaurants extremely close by and lovely countryside to walk in. If we wanted to stay close to the house, the communal pool and spa/gym was literally a minutes walk. In addition, with two daughters who are golfers, having a golf course within two minutes walk was a big plus point.

In 2012 we started to look around the area with a view to buying a property and quickly came to the conclusion that PDF had everything we wanted. On a return visit in 2013 we quite by chance found this house was about to go on the market and it had everything we were looking for plus a balcony with a fantastic view - a quick family decision was made to purchase it.

We have made lots of friends out here - my wife joined a local pilates and yoga group and also joins in with the local dog walking community (even though we don't have one). I play walking football at a local club and a little golf. Apart from that, being able to spend time relaxing on the beach, and enjoying a glass wine and and a plate of seafood in the evening seems like a good way to spend our time here.

What makes this property unique

Our house is situated in a very quiet location and being able to sit and have breakfast on the balcony looking down through the 10th hole of the golf course with the sea in the horizon is just idilic.
