The Old Croft House is a beautiful holiday cottage on the Isle of Skye. It is set in a stunning location in the crofting village of Aird, near Ardvasar on the Sleat Peninsula. The cottage boasts spectacular mountain views of Knoydart and the Hebridean islands of Eigg and Rum. The cottage has a large enclosed garden and is surrounded by fields. A secluded rocky beach is a 2 minute walk away & the beautiful sandy beach at the Point of Sleat is an hours walk from the village. The Old Croft House provides an excellent base to explore the natural beauty of Skye. So if you are looking for a traditional and well equipped self catering holiday cottage on Skye, we look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful corner of the island. We let all year round for weekly lets & short breaks October-March in our quieter season.

Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Please ensure all windows and roof lights are closed.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement,but ask that they are discouraged from going on furniture and upstairs.Please clean up dog mess in the garden.
The cottage will be clean and tidy on your arrival and we expect it to be in a similar state when you depart. Washing up done & put away & bins out.
Unfortunately the cottage is not fully accessible as old, there is a large step into the house, the stairs are steep and only an upstairs bathroom.

Everything about staying here was so easy. The drive out is beautiful. You feel like you are on the edge of the world. The kitchen is one of the most fully stocked kitchen's I've ever had the pleasure of using in a rental property. The wood burning fire stove is very straightforward to use. This is the perfect cozy cottage!

Amazing place

Superb location, amazing views, well stocked cottage. Extremely comfortable and welcoming home…..has absolutely everything…..plus dogs can run around in safety……with cows as neighbours. We loved it and want to visit again.

Very pleasant cottage in lovely setting. Well equipped and very dog friendly. Just a shame the final part of the road is so poor, pot holes and badly marked passing places for 3.5 miles not good in a low slung car!

Beautiful property in stunning location

The Old Croft House was just perfect, immaculately clean, comfortable and in a stunning location. The views from the property were amazing. It was everything we wanted from our visit to Skye. It really is a home from home property and we would definately stay there again. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog, he loved it as much as us.

Absolutely stunning views and lovely cottage

We were charmed by the beauty of The Old Croft House and it's views. It was very neatly appointed and had a small working fireplace that we used with delight. We are already plotting to return and will treasure our memories there for life.

The Croft was cosy and in a delightful location on the coast. Lovey well equipped kitchen, The woodburner was great on colder evenings. The isolation was wonderful . Truly a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet . Loved it ❤️

Nice Scottish bungalow

Very old house that has been fabulously updated. Kitchen is gorgeous with all amenities, aga wood burning stove was warm and toasty and added just the right touch to the ambiance . Beds were comfortable. House was warm and the view was to die for. A bit scary driving in, and quite far from amenities but thats what you get and thats what we paid for. Thanks Alison for all your help with medical issues. Made a big difference! Love stay! Allison, i wanted to let you know I found the Beiderlack blankets available stateside. Bought one and love it. Still searching for the cow with painted hair you had at your house. If you can let me know where to get one of him, id love it. So cute . Thanks agian for a lovely stay!!!

Perfect cottage with amazing sea views

We had a peaceful and relaxing stay.The cottage was warm and cosy and had everything we needed and more. Great host who kept us up to date every step of the holiday, including covid 19 information, which the cottage was more than ready for and we had no concerns. The welcome pack was much appreciated after our long drive. My partner was so excited to have a buzzard visit the garden, who even sat and posed for some amazing photos. The garden was all enclosed and dog friendly. Some great walks nearby and the private little beach was special. Would definitely recommend and if ever in Skye again I wouldnt hesitate to book The Old Croft House Again.

Peace and tranquillity in abundance

Simply stunning location and a lovely little house that had everything we needed. Much time was spend in the garden just looking at the views. Brilliant secure garden for the dogs and the cove was an added bonus for all of us. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants to get away from it all.

Großartiges Ferienhaus im ruhigeren Teil der Isle of Skye

Wir haben eine wunderschöne Woche in diesem gemütlichen Ferienhaus verbracht. Das Haus bietet sämtlichen Komfort und wunderschöne Ausblicke auf den Atlantik. Es ist nicht ganz so einsam gelegen wie die Fotos vermuten lassen, es sind ein paar Häuschen in der Umgebung. Sehr nette Nachbarn. Wir haben es immer sehr genossen vom Trubel der restlichen Insel wieder zurück in dieses entspannte Paradies zurückzukehren. Toll auch für die Kinder mit dem großen Garten und den angrenzenden Feldern mit Zugang zum Meer, wo wir Delfine, Roben und Otter gesehen haben. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

A trip to stay in a little piece of paradise

The Croft was wonderful, the scenery magnificent, the weather unbelievably warm and sunny. We wanted to get away from it all and recharge our batteries and we left after a week having had the most amazing time in our first trip to Skye. The peace, tranquility and scenery were just what we needed.Everything about the stay was perfect from booking, paying, directions, instructions for the croft. Everything we needed was there for us. Vixen our Patterdale Terrier had a wonderful time in the garden which is almost terrier proof. I can't recommend this property highly enough.

We loved our stay at the Old Croft House! Cottage was perfect and homely, very well equipped. The setting is wonderful -breathtaking sea views towards Eigg. Large garden perfect for our dogs, and short walk to a small beach where we enjoyed fishing, watching for wildlife and admiring the view towards the mainland. Can't wait to return!

A beautiful cottage, comfortable and very well equipped, in the most stunning location near the bay. We had a fantastic week, walking and sightseeing and eating meals in the garden overlooking the water. Can't wait to go back.

We have always loved holidaying in Scotland and bought The Old Croft House on a whim when we saw it (as a derelict cottage) and fell in love with it and its wonderful location!

Why they chose this property

Skye is a beautiful island and Sleat is 'the garden of Skye' and aptly named as the greenest part of the island. The cottage is located in Aird, a village on the southerly most tip of Skye and we have amazing views out to Eigg & Rhum & Ardnamurchan. It is a truly magical place to stay & we love it!

What makes this property unique

The cottage is a real home from home. It's a good mix of traditional on the outside, but with all you need inside for a cosy, comfortable stay. We pride ourselves on having a well equipped cottage which will hopefully have all you want in a holiday home.
We go for a rest from the world, peace and tranquility, wild storms, beautiful sunsets and great wildlife & walks.
