I am Richard Smith
I live in England and share the cottage with our grown up children. I spend most of our spare time & holidays at Buckland, where we enjoy developing our house & cottages to improve the holidaying experience for our guests. The large gardens are a joy to work in with some unusual plants which we are able to grow due to the very warm summers with mild winters.
We have really fallen in love with the South Hams, beaches & eating out.

Why they chose this property
Having holidayed here as a teenager, learning to sail and canoe on the river Dart my wife and I wanted to have a holiday base in the area for our young family. We looked to create a family friendly holiday home and first bought property at Buckland in 1988.
In 2001 we demolished some farm barns and built the new cottage -Cherry together with two others reclaiming much of the original barn materials.
The areas beauty and opportunities for youngsters to enjoy water sports together with the pace of life in the South Hams convinced us this was the right place.
It is a joy working to improve the grounds and develop the large gardens. Having plenty of experience in holidaying with young children and looking after guests
we can recommend the area for family holidays.
