We have a fabulous week staying at Bijou Barn and Graham and Jane were fantastic hosts, greeting us when we arrived on the first day and seeing us off on the morning we left. The barn is beautifully laid out, furnished and tastefully decorated. It has everything you could need for a comfortable stay. We used the pool a couple of times but as it doesn't have a cover it was too cold for us to go in most days. Instead, we spent a lot of time down at the local lake which was lovely and warm and has a fantastic wibit adventure course which the children loved going on. I would highly recommend Bijou Barn to other holiday goers!

Amazing, sophisticated, spacial barn conversion!
From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for a treat! It's a beautiful property both inside and out, tranquil but not remote or isolated. There are 2 main seating areas, one where the gas BBQ is and the other looking out over the fields and beyond. The main room is visually stunning and the 2 main bedrooms have doors leading off of this space. The kitchen is perfectly situated and central to all outside areas. The 3rd bedroom is a little away from the main hub of the house, in the oldest part of the building, and as a result a very cool ambience resides. The pool is stunning and very private, set amongst lavender and grape vines. During our stay, at the end of August, the grapes - and the abundance of figs - were ripe and delicious! Montcuq is the nearest supplies village and it is a lovely place. The market on Sundays was inspirational for meal planning, and the friendly atmosphere was almost carnival-like. The nearest place to eat - "Nadines" in St Matre - provided an excellent lunch which was exceptionally good value for money. There really was nothing which did not meet and exceed our expectations and the icing on the cake were 2 of the loveliest people you could hope to meet who gave us their home for 2 weeks. Thank you so much Graham and Jane, we will see you next year!

Beautifully presented, comfortable, spacious barn in a lovely part of France
We were warmly welcomed by hosts Jane and Graham upon our arrival. They gave us a tour of their beautiful house ensuring that we knew where everything was and how to use appliances etc. They provided us with essentials such as local ham, bread and melon and beer and wine! This was much appreciated, thank you.
The barn is extremely comfortable for family living with plenty of space for our teenagers to have their own "me-time" The pool area is very private and offers both shade and sunny areas when lounging. The gardens of the barn are beautiful and again very spacious. The gas barbeque was used by us many times and again this is a lovely area to sit in the evening.
Our favourite seating area was to the rear of the property, where we sat most nights watching the sunset and then an excellent area for star gazing! We also saw deer in the fields beyond the barn here and birds of prey. The view is stunning and very peaceful.
The bedrooms of the barn are all very tastefully presented and very comfortable.
We enjoyed visits to many surrounding towns including Montcuq, Puy Leveque (you can hire kayaks from here - we did!), Cahors and if you fancy a longer drive Saint Cirq Lapopie is definitely worth a visit! The local markets are well worth a visit too with plenty of local produce to try!
We would love to return to Jane and Graham's beautiful house and would highly recommend it.

A wonderful relaxing holiday
We enjoyed a very relaxing fortnight at Jane and Graham's house.
The children really enjoyed the pool and we spent many a lazy evening sitting on the terrace watching the deer and sunset.
The Lot region was a real surprise to us. It was so quiet and beautiful. For the children the bonus was the lake with the giant inflatable.
Thank you to both Graham and Jane for sharing their home.

Fabulous!
The location was stunning, with friendly hosts and French neighbours. There is so much to do and interesting places to visit. Children loved the lake with the Aquazone and beach. Barn was gorgeous, and bigger than expected. It had all what we needed and more! Thank you to the owners, Jane and Graham.

Luxury, family friendly holiday property
Graham and Jane are hospitable hosts, and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in their beautiful barn. The house itself provide a fantastic base for exploring around the Dordogne and Lot regions, as well as providing various sitting areas, great for family time, as well as secluded areas for quiet reading times.
Instruction to find the house is easy to follow, and the surrounding fields are covered with beautiful sun flowers.
Our boys (age 12 and 9) throughly enjoyed the visits to a lake in nearby Montcuq, with floating Aquazone, and the water was beautiful emerald green and crystal clear for swimming.
And last but not least, the barbeque and pool areas are so well laid out and inviting, we all had a truly wonderful time, and left feeling truly refreshed.
Thank you again for your hospitality.

Lovely place to stay in a lovely area
Bijou Barn was as nice as it looked on the website, it's spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The garden was lovely with a secluded pool which was very well maintained. If you can drag yourselves away there is beautiful scenery with hilltop villages to explore, vineyards and of course the river Lot. The owners Jane and Graham are very friendly, nothing being too much trouble. We can thoroughly recommend the barn and hope to return some day.

What an impressive home
We have had the most wonderful stay at Bijou Barn - what an impressive home, both stylishly quirky and stunning. The bedrooms were unique and very luxurious. The pool was fantastic and it was great to relax in the garden or on the terraces. We also enjoyed exploring the many places of interest the area had to offer, when we could tear ourselves away from the house. We will definitely be back.

Lovely home in a tranquil setting
We loved our holiday in Caux Haute. Its a beautiful converted farmhouse/barn. Its a great location too as you can be in Cahor in 30 minutes. The nearby village of Montcuq is big enough to have all the amenities but small enough to be charming!
The house has all the stuff you could possibly need with a pool and ample space outside to tire out bisterous children.
We would definitely recommend the lovely barn holiday to anyone.

A Fabulous Retreat!
On our arrival we were really warmly greeted by Jane and Graham with a cold beer and soft drinks (for the children) at their peaceful barn in the hamlet of Caux. Jane and Graham gave us a tour of the property to make sure we felt at home. A really nice start to two idyllic weeks.
The barn is absolutely beautiful. We were surprised by the size of the barn and bedrooms - huge! The barn is really light and airy and tastefully decorated. Think luxury! The bedrooms are also luxurious...lots of beams and natural stone all brought together with contemporary fixtures and fittings.
If you somehow fail to miss the wow factor inside the property just take a look at over the countryside from the terraces. Beautiful...peaceful...and relaxing. We regularly spotted deer and birds of prey.
The pool is perfect and manages to capture the sun from early morning until late evening. The pool was cleaned twice during our stay by Ruud who provided us with lots of local knowledge about what to see and do. Ruud's knowledge complimented the welcome pack that Jane had provided. A really nice guy.
There are some fantastic hilltop villages within a few km's of the barn. The Lot river is also on your doorstep. Travelling is a delight as traffic is virtually non-existent.
The barn was spotless on our arrival. Jane and Graham had also provided us with some essentials to see us through until the next day. A really nice surprise.
It was with a heavy heart that we left the barn after two weeks. We have spent 17 years holidaying in France and would love to visit the barn again as it really is very special.

Why they chose this property
We have just realised a life long dream of making our home in France. We spent much time finding the perfect place and believe we have found it here. We would like to share this jewel which is Bijou Barn with you.
We love this region because the tranquility of the area combines brilliantly with the hustle and bustle of the many hilltop towns and villages each with their own unique character and immense beauty.
There is so much to do. Saunter your cares away by the river, get inspired as you wander around a local market, sample the endless supply of local delicacies, meet the wine growers to learn about their craft and enjoy a tasting or cycle along quiet country roads which stitch together the multi coloured patchwork of the rolling hills.
What makes this property unique
We would describe Bijou Barn as sophisticated vintage with all the mod-cons oozing French style and a contemporary twist.
The spacious yet quirky bedrooms called Diamond and Sapphire, have double height ceilings with doors leading into the garden.
Diamond This delightful room is an oasis of calm with its super kingsize bed and rolltop bath. There's plenty of storage space for clothes and toiletries so you'll feel at home in no time at all.
Sapphire This double room with beautiful exposed stone offers tranquility at its best. Our guests just love the shower area made of stone - we bring the outdoors inside. Again plenty of storage for all your things.
The outdoor space is as important as the interior so there's an outdoor terrace for alfresco eating, a gas BBQ and a wonderful secluded pool area reached through a vine covered terrace.
We hope that we have created the perfect holiday retreat for you to come and visit year after year.
