About this property
Tremerlin. Unique and Magnificently Situated 8 acre Waterside Artists' Retreat

Change over day sat
Tremerlin sleeps up to 8, altogether4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms/shower rooms.
Secret woodland gardens glorious views and seclusion. The apartment, sleeping 6, comprises the lower ground floor of the house, and enjoys an elevated position with sublime views of the Helford river from all the windows, while a handsome Victorian railway carriage from the 1880's sleeps 2, in a grand position above the main property with spectacular views over Frenchmans Creek and the upper Helford.
The upper part of the property is undergoing refurbishment during the winter, however the associated 100 foot covered veranda and adjacent lawns are available, offering the possibility of outside barbecue and dining, and contemplation of glorious river sunsets. A quirky riverside studio is also available by arrangement.
The apartment accommodation includes a double bedroom, a family bath/shower room; a central living room with sofas, wood stove, dining area and open-plan kitchen; as well as a twin/double bedroom with roll top bath/shower room; and a cabin like twin bunkroom.
The eclectic, rambling and comfortable interior is being refurbished bit by bit with an abundance of old pine, blue slate and loose rugs, but Miele dish washer and washing machine help with practical chores. Night store and oil-filled radiators are available to top up heating if it is cold. Double doors open from the living area straight onto a covered balcony with outside dining table and chairs overlooking the river. From the apartment, rambling woodland garden paths lead down to the quay and foreshore through glades of magnolia, huge gunnera and tree ferns. Ancient oaks and holly, stone walls and paths cushioned with moss predominate the 4 acres of woods sloping down to the river. Ratty from Wind in the Willows would feel at home! Boats may be moored on the outhauls off the slipway with an anchorage beyond. Sailing, motor and rowing boats may be hired locally and fishing off the quay may procure; bass, wrasse, bream, mackerel etc. Tremerlin's grand position overlooking the tidal Helford river is also exceptional for bird watching. Hoopoo bird, perigrine falcon, egret, kingfisher and even pelican have been observed. Dolphins and seals and even otter are occasional visitors to the river as are deer, fox and badger to the woods.
The Lookout, a magical one room studio perched on the foreshore just up river below the house, may be rented for an additional £200 a week. Built as a painters studio and retreat it exudes peace and tranquility.
