First: Renovated, modern, bright, triple aspect kitchen, with access to private garden. Granite worktops, electric range cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and under-counter fridge and freezer. Dining area for six with wall mounted Smart TV.
Family bathroom/WC, plus very small additional shower room and second WC.
Second Floor: Spacious, luxurious, triple aspect lounge with five windows, making it light and airy. High quality furnishings with Samsung Smart Curved TV and Bose 'surround-sound' system. Remote-Control electric blinds. Third bedroom with double bed, built-in wardrobe and vanity unit. "Look-out" off landing, affording a great view of harbour .
Cobbled area to front of cottage has bench seating, and the rear private garden (access via kitchen, or through tunnel from front of property) has dining table for six and BBQ.
Some original features, including panelled walls, beams and door, have been retained in the property.
The owners are happy to welcome well-behaved, house-trained dogs.

HISTORICAL NOTE: Captain Upton's Cottages - named after the Mayor of Falmouth in 1708 - have been described by Falmouth Civic Society as "a vital link with Falmouth's first era of prosperity". They are the only remaining example of a host of houses and cottages which once crowded the waterfront. With the exception of Arwenack House, they are arguably the oldest residential buildings in the town".

Absolutely beautiful cottage that felt like home the minute we walked in. Well laid out giving everyone their own space but with lovely areas to gather together. Location perfect. Walking distance to everything, shops, pubs, restaurants etc. Exceeded expections. Thank you for having us as guests.

The cottage is beautifully decorated, a real home from home feel, high end facilities.Great location, central to Falmouth shops and harbour, but tucked away and quiet. Great view from the look out seating at the top of the cottage, beautiful harbour views. You can paddle board from the harbour, and the beach is a 15 min walk.Great restaurants near by.The host is a great communicator, prompt response and we only booked the day before arrival. Excellent value for money, cozy and comfortable stay, we will definitely return. Day trip to the Eden Project and to St Ives.

Really quirky, cosy and well equipped cottage in a fantastic location right in the heart of Falmouth. A really tasteful interior with every comfort and luxury you could hope for making it a home away from home. Would definitely stay again.

Great find

Had a lovely week staying here at 4 Captain Uptons. Lovely comfortable character property tucked away in the centre of town and has the bonus of an enclosed garden. Very well equipped with everything you need. Hopefully we will be back again next year.

Lovely house

Very well decorated house with everything you need for a perfect stay in Falmouth. The house doesn’t have sea view unless you step up to a bench in an upper cupboard. Disappointed about this. Very good stay

Very lovely cottage in lovely Falmouth

Very lovely house/ cottage which is well equipped and very good located next to Church Street Parking. Actually you don't need your car because both Tesco Metro and Tesco Express are in walking distance plus beach and castle are also reachable by feet. In addition the communication with Joyce & Brian Cooper before the stay was very good so in total perfect holiday from our point of view! If possible we'll come back!

Great quirky house that’s in the centre of Falmouth

We loved our stay. It was an impulsive booking to visit our daughter who’s studying at Falmouth university. Joyce was super quick to respond and we’ve shared a few messages before, during and after our stay. We were sent through lots of useful info before we arrived but we still drove around Falmouth a couple of times before we’re able to find Church Street Carpark to unload our bits. Don’t listen to Google maps, they take you to a different carpark. We felt right at home in the quirky upside down house as soon as we arrived. The kitchen is well equipped, with everything you could possibly need. The living room has the comfiest spacious couches we’ve ever found in a holiday rental property. I especially enjoyed my morning coffee sitting up in the look out. The garden is secure and our little dogs like exploring all of it! It’s secluded and quiet but once you head up the stairs on to Church Street you’re right in the middle of Falmouth with cafe’s, restaurants and pubs galore. A lovely little half term getaway! Thank you

A lovely ‘upside down’ cottage over three floors, tucked away just behind the harbourfront buildings. Great beds, great showers, quirky, genuinely old features and overall a very nice, quiet place to stay. Despite the peace and quiet, it’s only a few steps up to the high street with all the shops, cafes, restaurants, harbour and waterfront very easily walkable. As with a lot of old places in Falmouth, there are a lot of steps both inside and out, so it wouldn’t be suitable for people with limited mobility. We didn’t really use the kitchen as we ate out whilst we were there (there are so many excellent places to eat within a couple of minutes’ walk), but the kitchen is fully equipped and spacious enough for a few people to cook and socialise in.Communication from the owner was excellent throughout, and all directions and instructions very clear. We found it was worth paying the 27 fora week’s parking in Church Street car park, which is literally steps from the front door. If navigating to it via satnav make sure it’s taking you to the car park from the north (market street) not the south, otherwise it gets very confusing very quickly!A great stay and very comfortable for our family of four.

Situated in a courtyard with several other houses just off the high street it was however a very quiet location. Many restaurants, shops and bars within 5 mins walk. Sea view from the “lookout was limited but fun to have. The two upper floors were light and airy. The whole house was comfortable and very nicely decorated. The bedrooms on the ground floor were a little dark. We had a lovely week there inspite of the mixed weather. The central location was just great and the reserved parking space a real advantage. We had some problem finding the cottage to start with because the council had recently installed a bollard to stop people driving down church St till 16.00.

Quirky historic cottage in heart of old town Falmouth

Located down a little lane just off the main shopping street this holiday cottage is right in the centre of the historic part of town but tucked away in a private location. It’s set over three floors with bedrooms on the ground floor and top floor, and the kitchen and bathrooms on the middle floor. The lookout seat up in the roof gives you views over the neighbouring roof out over the estuary. It’s a very lovely view! The kitchen is well equipped for self catering for a family though the dishwasher was out of action but other than that all was great!

Why they chose this property

Captain Upton's Cottages are just a few steps away from all that Falmouth has to offer. At the top of Upton Slip is the main shopping street, with many main stream high street stores, as well as local independent craft shops. A great selection of restaurants and bars are also within easy walking distance. Church Street Car Park, on the harbourside is literally 10 paces from our front gate, at the bottom of the slip! . If you wish to keep the car there, the cost is currently circa £8 per day.

What makes this property unique

The cottage is one of two 17th Century buildings which are noted as the oldest residential properties (with the exception of Arnewack House) in Falmouth. The "Lookout" on the top floor, gives a spectacular view over the harbour.
