Cozy and Comfortable

Sally’s Cozy Cottage was just what we needed for our brief stay in Boyne City. Well equipped and a good value. We appreciated the covered outdoor space equipped with patio furniture.

Cozy Spot, Close to Local Attractions

This was our first trip to Boyne City, and it was nice to be close to the downtown area, as well as hiking/biking trails. We didn’t go to the Boyne resort, but it is also a short drive down the road. It was nice hanging out in the hot tub after a long day of hiking and swimming, and having a bonfire at night.

Great Overall Experience

Host was very friendly and gave great directions. For the price you pay, it is worth the value. During the winter the place got cold in some parts because there is only 1 heater. Besides that, everything else was great. Good ammenities, WiFi a little spotty, hot tub was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

Price appropriate

All as expected accept for the refrigerator malfunction, driveway probably should have been plowed. It was just my son and I so we didn't care. Good location. Would have paid alot more in town.

Quick trip to Boyne

Sally's Cozy Cottage is a nice quaint little place. The location to Boyne City and Boyne Mountain for sking is excellent. Worked for two people that each wanted their own bed. Hottube was a great joy. Figuring things out (light switches, thermostat) was confusing. Information on the listing is outdated (wifi password, having a snack basket upon arrival). However, host did reach out to help us with questions (mainly wifi) and allowed us to check-in early which was very nice.

Major issues!

While listing was good, the stay did come with unexpected issues during the stay. Location and proximity to what we were staying for was spot on. There were however a couple issues that came up. While I understand owners aren't to blame for unexpected weather events or unforeseen issues reacting tobthe property, I do believe that they are responsible for taking all appropriate actions to try and counter such events. With that said, a couple issues resulted during they stay and while they were addressed, I don't feel that as the one renting I should be held to paying full price as advertised due to the inconvenience of what issues transpired. First night there weather was 8 degrees and the one heater in the house didn't heat anything exceptd the one entrance room it was located in. I informed the owner and another space heater was brought in which did remedy that situation. The next issue that occurred was the morning after our first night the bathroom shower plumbing became backed up and wouldn't drain. The owner tried to remedy that situation without being able to until a plumber could fix it. Owner did try and remedy that situation by offering to use facilities in a place next door that I did not rent and did not pay for. While I appreciate the effort, I don't feel it was appropriate to trounce and walk through the snow and cold weather to go next door to shower and wash and come back through the weather. Al

Well stocked home with a quick drive to Boyne Mtn or downtown Boyne City

Pros: - Mostly clean home - Well stocked with dinner wear and cooking items - Cozy fire pit within walking distance - Comfortable beds - Reliable Wifi connection and speed - Board games and playing cards - Streaming services available - Large refrigerator and freezer - Good communication from owner Cons: - Ants, ants, ants...and beetles (most likely not an issue in winter though) - Electrical outlets and switches in odd places - Odd layout of home - Irony well water - Not completely child/kid friendly Neutral: - Stocked with different condiments, cooking oils etc; but was it from previous guests? - Hot tub (noted as a shared commodity with neighboring rental house on the rental information inside the home)

Booked for a ski trip at Boyne

Our experience during our stay was fair. One issue was the steep driveway which in snow and ice made it impossible to use with out four wheel drive. Because of this there was no easy way to get to the home except to park at the bottom of the driveway and to walk through the deep snow up the hill in the yard the access the front door. The driveway was also not plowed in a timely fashion after a measurable snow. . Another issue were carpenter ants. They were everywhere and became progressively worse during our stay. The owner was very responsive to the issue but there wasn’t much that could be done. Overall if you need a crash pad for skiing this may work. We were a little disappointed.

Good place minus the ants.

House was in good location, easy to find with the directions provided by host. The house was close to Boyne City and not that far of a drive to other locations we traveled to. The only downfall was the carpenter ants that had the run of the house. If you can get past the ants then this is a nice place to stay for a quick getaway.

Cute, cozy, nice location

This cottage is super cute. Small and cozy but big enough for two adults, a 16--yo-boy and 11-yo-boy. Great location; not remote, but within a 5-minute drive to anywhere you want to go. Sally was very nice and easy to work with.

Nicest and superhelpful owner

We messaged them on the way there, asking if there was ice on there, and she said she wasn't sure. I wasn't upset, just checking so I can buy a bag! But she messaged me that she made sure the ice trays were filled and a bag of ice was in the freezer! The hot tub was excellent and we had it to ourselves which was great! The mattresses were great too! Both are memory foam, one a little softer than the other, so you have some variety for your sleeping needs! You're close to all that Boyne city and the area has to Offer! Wonderful place to stay!

Upnorth get away

Sallys place is perfect for a northern Michigan escape. We went up end of October to see some fall colors and do some relaxing. Spend 2 days around the area. The hot tub outside was absolutely wonderful! Would recommend to anyone looking to stay at a cozy cottage!

Nice little place

We enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, and Sally was a very attentive host. Close to all the places we wanted to visit. We used the hot tub, gas grill, and fire cage, all of which were great! (Sally provided wood for the fire) Also there is a nice eating area outside surrounded by a well maintained garden. This cottage sits fairly close to a main road so we did have road noise that would start about 5 am but that was really the only issue. There is a white noise machine next to the bed but we didn’t notice it till our last night. It was pretty warm that night so we closed the windows and turned on the ac, which helped with the road noise.

More Rustic Than Expected, with Mice

This cottage is surrounded by beautiful flower gardens, includes a hot tub (which we didn't use), and has a dedicated fire pit area. We appreciated the outdoor picnic table and tent right outside the cottage, where we played cards on a rainy afternoon, as well as the yard games available to us. The kitchen was very well-supplied, the TV offerings were abundant, and the beds were very comfortable, with memory foam mattresses and pillows. Although the cottage is on a busy road, white noise machines easily covered up the noise from traffic. Unfortunately, there was a big problem during our stay: rodents. We started off seeing a mouse run across the cottage kitchen, at which point we notified the owner. She responded promptly, but simply acknowledged that it was an old cabin and pointed us to additional mouse traps. Within a 36-hour period, we ended up catching six rodents (mice and shrews) inside of the cottage. We did our best to endure this challenge, but ultimately, we were uneasy enough to cut our trip short by one night. Thankfully, the owner refunded a portion of our money.

Ants, mice, and hair

There were plenty on ants and a busy mouse in the house. Long hair on the soap dispenser and in the shower. FYI.... it is a 4/20 friendly house and has a weird smell.

Comfortably sleeps 4, very close to attractions and activities

The house was comfortable, clean and well stocked. Sally provided us with a lot of useful information about the area attractions and restaurants, which was appreciated. Two double beds and one couch are available for sleeping. Having a child sleep on the couch is reasonable, but am not sure how comfortable a full size adult would be. There is a large flat screen tv available, with various entertainment options provided for viewing. Our weekend was packed with activities in Boyne City, so the house was mostly used as a place to sleep and shower. A well-sized hot tub is available(which we didn't use), along with a gas grill and a large family-sized table under an awning just outside the door. Overall, a nice experience during our stay. The only drawback of the property is the steep driveway which is directly off of M 75, the busy main road leading into Boyne City. It took a lot of patience and awareness to be able to safely exit the driveway. The house is located in a mostly commercial area, so those of you looking for a place "away from it all" should consider this property as being close and convenient to Boyne City and the Boyne Mountain Resort.

Loved the hot tub! Bed was cozy with Memory foam mattress!

Unfortunately we went to Boyne Mountain resort on Saturday and couldn’t find a ride or Uber back because none were available. We were not able to enjoy Sally’s Cozy Cottage on Saturday and had to rent a hotel room at Boyne Mountain resort essentially paying for 2 hotel rooms in one night.

We really enjoyed staying here. Sandy was very welcoming and accommodating. They went out of their way to make kayaking happen with our kids (7/9). Our dogs loved our first vacation together too! The beds were very comfortable!!!!! The location is so easy to get to many places around it with a short drive. Thanks do much Sandy.
