About this property
From the Piero hill you can admire the Valtiberina where Tuscany and Umbria merge
The Piero hill is located in the most panoramic point of Sansepolcro, in the countryside but only one km from the historic center.
The restaurant has just been renovated and has 4 rooms with private bathroom equipped with mosquito nets.
At guests' disposal there are kitchen and living room with antique fireplace and there is also a hallway bathroom and the laundry area including iron and ironing board, washing machine, basin for hand washing and drying rack.
The place has ample free parking.
It is possible to rent the entire structure or individual rooms.
The building is located a few kilometers away (about 5) from the Franciscan hermitage of Montecasale, a favorite place for St. Francis during his travels from Assisi to Verna and which still retains the Saint's stone bed, together with the suggestiveness of the places. , remained in their original simplicity and beauty. From the Collina di Piero it is possible to take the "San Francesco in Toscana: from Verna to Sansepolcro" Trekking on foot or by bicycle, MBT of 37 km.
Famous places for their beauty and suggestion are easily reachable from Sansepolcro: Anghiari, only 9 km away, which preserves the medieval village intact in its oldest part. From Anghiari we can continue to Caprese Michelangelo, home of the great Renaissance genius. Always near Anghiari, but in Umbria, we meet Citerna which overlooks the beautiful natural amphitheater of Valtiberina. Nearby, but in a newly Tuscan territory, there is Monterchi with the famous Madonna del parto by Piero della Francesca, a World Heritage Site. Along the upper valley of the Umbrian Tiber, just 15 km from Sansepolcro, we meet Città di Castello, the ancient Tifernum, which preserves in its museums the works of one of the greatest contemporary painters: Alberto Burri. Continuing and going towards the Apennines of the Marche region, there is Gubbio with its majestic palaces (of the consuls and ducal) famous for the race of the candles that is run on May 15 and the crossbow that is held against Sansepolcro on the last Sunday of May while on the second Sunday of September the crossbowmen Eugubini (from Gubbio) and Biturgens (from Sansepolcro) face off in Piazza Torre di Berta in Sansepolcro. Just 70 km from Sansepolcro we can visit Perugia (E45 highway, 50 minutes travel time). Tuscan cities are easily accessible are Cortona (distance 40 Km) with its diocesan museum which preserves the Annunciation of Beato Angelico, Siena (100 Km), the city of the Palio, Arezzo (36 Km) which houses the Pierfrancescani frescoes of the legend of the true Cross in the Basilica of San Francesco and the crucifix of Cimabue in the Basilica of San Domenico, also famous for the antiques fair on the first Sunday of each month and the Giostra del Saracino in Piazza Grande in front of the Vasari Logge. Florence can be reached thanks to the expressway to Arezzo and then with the A1 motorway (138 km, 1h and 38). The Sanctuary of La Verna (E 45 exit Pieve Santo Stefano, Passo dello Spino) at 37 km and the Monastery and the Hermitage of Camaldoli (via della Libbia, via Umbro-Casentinese) at around 70 km are also easily accessible. Places, both rich in history, spirituality and capable of restoring every soul for their being authentically in contact with nature.
"To the friends of the Tiber Valley"
... The tired soul, to you, flourishing hills
Austere and happy flounces, it will come to you.
Famous river short floor showers;
Love the vine necks; and, to behold
Sweet, among green oaks here is the blonde
Ear at the top of the Alps aura sway.
De the old bullies up the spaldi
She feeds the cow and aims slowly at the floor;
And de le torri, ribaldi's hostel,
The useful house grew to the pious villan ...
