Wantara Garden Suites” is a private condo, hidden behind an adobe wall from colonial times in the historical centre of Quito. A manor house dating back to 1900 and several adjoining buildings give home to 8 independent apartments. Your Suite is located in one of the adjoining buildings of the manor house, designed for a unique living experience. The mediterranean style independent apartment is carefully decorated and equipped with amenities. The private terrace overlooks mount Pichincha and the beautiful gardens. A breeze from the Panecillo hill provides fresh mountain air and you sit outside, surrounded by flowers and enjoy the sunny Ecuadorian climate.
An ample common area with gazebo, hammocks and BBQ invites to interact with the other guests in our condominium.
Studio Mariposa is the smallest (323 sqft or 30 sqmts) of our 8 apartments at Wantara Suites and has one room with a kitchen/dining area, a double bed (140 x 190 cm) and sitting area. Both sections are divided by a screen. The Suite also has a nice private terrace with mountain view. Free WiFi internet access, room service once a week for guests staying two weeks and longer is included and laundry service is available, 10U$ per load.

Great apartment near historic old town Quito

This apartment is great for stay near historic Quito. It is about a 10 minute walk to the main sites, and about a 5 minute walk from La Ronda. Well maintained, clean, and comfortable!

Wonderful stay in a beautiful studio

Everything was perfect. Wolfgang is a wonderful host. He kept in touch from the beginning and answered all questions we had. He arranged for his driver, Marcelo, to pick us up at the airport and had a nice breakfast for our first morning. Marcelo gave us a good orientation to the nearby places and also took us to Otavalo later in the week. The studio was perfect for my husband an I and the gardens are beautiful and peaceful. Location was excellent. 10 minutes walk to the main plaza (at a very slow pace) and centro historico. We felt very safe in the area but took taxis after dark. The appartment had everything you may need. They come and clean the appartment twice a week. They also can do laundry for a small extra charge. We stayed for 4 days and enjoyed every minute of it. Can't tecommend it enough! Beautiful views, amazing and peaceful gardens and studio.

Wantara is conveniently located near the historic center of Quito, yet, it feels like a world away. It is a peaceful sanctuary that feels more like living in a botanical garden than in a large city. Each unit has a patio to relax and enjoy the greenery. The unit called Mariposa was clean, comfortable and had all the essentials, to include: Plenty of hot water in the shower, a quaint kitchen area and a seating area with lovely views of the mountains. The owners and staff were attentive and very helpful. Everything was perfect!

Lush and very clean atmosphere

We had a wonderful stay at Mariposa. We arrived late and the owner arranged for Marcello to pick us up at the airport. It was super helpful for us. There was a yummy breakfast plate awaiting us in the fridge for the morning. There was also coffee and fresh water for our use while there. Both Marcello and Wolfgang helped us with where to go while in Quito. The room was perfect and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this for your stay! We loved it!!

Why they chose this property

Fascinated by the magic of the 'Old Town' where authentic Ecuadorian traditions are still alive and can be experienced in its streets and places, we decided that this is where we want to live. After a year of extensive search we finally found this treasure. It took us three years to carefully renovate the property. Within the 15.000 sqft of the old historical villa with its gardens we created eight independent units cautious of not loosing the colonial charm but adding all the contemporary comforts. Art objects in the lush garden and cozy living spaces gives 'Wantara' a very special flair. A breeze from the Panecillo hill provides fresh mountain air and you sit outside, surrounded by flowers and enjoy the sunny Ecuadorian climate.
